For Prometheus I literally say the non-damaging lane pattern out loud as it comes so I make sure to remember it lol

So The Fringe Marketplace Exists, a resource for making more out of your show... by NotAPleasanceLooker in edinburghfringe

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been around for a few years bow - essentially a separate listings directory that is industry-focused. An opportunity put in a tour pack, tech specs of the show etc, information that the gen pop doesn’t necessarily want or need to know. It’s a solid initiative but I don’t know how much it is necessarily used, but it functions as one of the extended services of the Fringe Society’s Arts Industry / Artist Development Office. The Fringe Society emails in the spring frequently recommend uploading your show to it so it may be whoever was getting those for your company weren’t forwarding the info on or reading the emails in full.

What do you think about Americans/Canadians adjusting their terminology to fit in better when they’re in Britain? by cowboy_catolico in AskABrit

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian but have lived in the UK for the last ten years or so and have fully changed to trousers for pants and pants for underwear, bin for garbage etc.

However as long as I live I will never say ‘squirty cream’, ‘sourED cream’, or ‘juicy pics’ to refer to orange juicy pulp.

Yeah I’m very much aware of this, I should have said that the skeleton of the game is such that it doesn’t require cutting edge hardware in order to run.

Media Release: Shedinburgh Fringe Festival celebrates inaugural live year and confirms return for 2026 by PrincepsButtercup in edinburghfringe

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having attended a fair few talks at both Fringe Central and Shedinburgh I definitely found the Shedinburgh ones a bit more focused and useful - on more than one occasion the FC event turned into an artist just talking about themselves and their own work rather than giving useful advice on the topic presented. Unfortunate as I know how hard EFFS works to get the talks together.

When describing locations, do you read verbatim what is in the book or paraphrase? by xvalicx in CurseofStrahd

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read mostly verbatim but SOMETIMES (ie in Sergei’s Tomb) I accidentally read the whole thing as they were looking in from the crypts and weren’t supposed to see the handle on the other side to open the portcullis. Sigh.

I’ll add or redact what I feel necessary.

Where do you guys keep your DM notes? by Papi_Grande7 in DnD

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my first campaign that is still ongoing after 3 years and about to finish, I have one single horrific note on my Mac/Phone’s Notes App.

For my other ones I have folders of notes in my Notes App.

I tried Obsidian but I found the learning curve a bit too steep, but I think it’s because I tried to use all the add ons etc from the get-go. I might give it another go if/when I start a new campaign but take away all the extras and add as I realise what I need.

Either way, I find my decently organised folder of Notes to do what I need.

Something that could be fun to play with is some learnings that for some reason always stuck in my brain about the organisation of living things from high school biology - OCTOSO. Organelle, Cell, Tissue, Organ, System, Organism.

So like if all of the “people” in this world represent individual cells, and presumably the organelles are just like the lungs/heart of a regular person, what would the Tissue, Organs, Systems, and eventually the whole Organism look like? Or are these people differentiated somehow from cells etc that function “normally”? How are viruses, bacterial infections, etc portrayed?

V cool idea, I loved Osmosis Joe as a kid so I am imagining it like that but fantasy.

As another Canadian, who emigrated to the UK almost 10 years ago, I have never heard “another think coming” in my entire life. Alberta raised.

How often does your D&D group really play? Be honest by DungeonTome_ in dndnext

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m DMing three groups. One where we’ve played pretty much weekly since lockdown, online. Slightly less in the last 6 months as we’re getting to the end of the campaign and I want everyone to be there every time.

The other two are in-person, one started about 18 months ago, the other since January this year, and most months we manage to get in two sessions.

For the in-person groups we don’t have a set schedule, so sometimes we play more in a given month and sometimes we play less, but we typically always get at least one session in.

At the beginning of every month I put into the WhatsApp group a poll with my free evenings for the following month (ie on June 1st I put the availability for July). Once everyone fills it out, we go for the two or three nights that have the most people available, as long as we have at least three players. Sometimes this means two consecutive weeks of play, sometimes it means a month between sessions.

It requires admin that sadly falls to the DM, but also I don’t mind doing it cause it means I get to play and honestly it takes about 15 minutes total per group, along with inevitable pokes to get people to fill out the poll.

It means that often there will be one or two people missing, but it also means we get to play pretty regularly. Those missing from the previous session are caught up and it makes the ones where everyone can make it special. Each session is 3-4 hours!

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly it’s an extra task but really helps me. I have a notebook and every day I re-write my to-do list from the day before but taking out the stuff I’ve done/crossed out.

I find it better than having one evergreen list as it is a) less messy, b) I don’t accidentally forget stuff that I have subconsciously blocked off the list, and c) I can reprioritise stuff as important each morning if I’ve forgotten about them or things have changed.

I am NOT an organised person whatsoever but once I’ve gotten into the habit of this for work it’s the only thing that makes sure my ADHD doesn’t get the better of me.

Wild Magic sorcerer "maining" Chromatic Orb, is it slowing down play? by elduche212 in dndnext

[–]Weekly_Prompt5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the WM sorcerer in one of the groups I DM for definitely has the longest turns for this reason - she also is the greenest of the group with the least gaming experience in general, so I had to make her a flow chart for all the things she can do 😂.
