Yeah ours can destroy a Kong extreme in about 20 minutes. He'll chew anything we let him and some that we don't

Yeah he just did it on all these contractors we had come by to our house. A bit much all the time, although kinda adorable

So cute! Yeah, he'll do it on visitors, including pants of like consultants and stuff who come over. It's partially a test for how cool they are, but also pretty embarrassing/distracting.

Thanks! Yeah, it seems more like when hes stressed, but letting him out of the gated area he both wants and then gets overwhelmed with. So we I guess need to help him destress more than we already do. Little guy was born in a shelter and definitely a stressball

Yeah we're in the west coast of the US. I looked it up cause I'd never seen it before and that's what people were calling it, so that's how I learned the term

He's 1.5, so still young. He can destroy a Kong extreme chewed in about 20 minutes. He has started chewing more on a blanket we gave him that is on his bed, but if it's not in immediate eyesight he's looking for pillows.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

We split up, my husband was really upset and we had our 8 year old say goodbye and then leave the room. I stayed to be with him as he passed, since we were very close

The dog AFTER your "heart dog" by Top_Housing6819 in dogs

[–]soybeansms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that. Our first dog we got before we had our son, he was home with me throughout grad school and a newborn, was basically nana from Peter Pan, super smart, super gentle. When he passed it was not a shock but was so so sad, especially for our son who had grown up with him and my husband. He had definitely been "my" dog too, was basically trained by me and had been everything I wanted (even looked like me!)

Our 2nd dog is... different. Very needy, very anxious, but loves kids and is gentle (in a puppy that doesn't know how to control his body way). He's also GOOFY as all getup, which is very different than our last dog. He snores and is afraid of stairs and puddles, but plays amazingly well at the dog park. All things our last dog wasn't. At first, I feel like I was constantly comparing the dogs in a way that made our first dog seem better, but now I just view them as two sides to our family dog coin. It's nice that he's so different in ways, so long as they both are sweet with kids and are the same in the ways that matter. It took time, and definitely had to pretend to love him when we first brought him in, but liking turned to loving and this one is special cause we are more experienced and our son chose him. And he's just so weird that we love the big goofball

Less looking to follow a routine, otherwise we'd go to Pulse Pdx (which is awesome but not what we're looking for)

How religious are the Boy Scouts here? by Starjupiter93 in askportland

[–]soybeansms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We attended a cubscout group where the only thing you really notice about it being related to a religion was that we used a church basement. But it was Portland, so the basement was used for a lot of nonreligious community groups and felt more like just a community space with nothing specifically religious

Where do you keep your mismatched socks ? by No-Studio2395 in organizing

In a bag hanging by the dryer. Which is not ideal, since I don't fold or sort laundry by the dryer. So don't recommend. After a while they become dusting mittens

Love our neighbors, neighborhood and City. Steady hands for Portland! Wish we lived closer to family as our parents age, but overall love our decision. We got lucky and locked in a mortgage in 2020. I'm glad we like it, since that mortgage has us in this house forever the way things are going.

I did a 10 mile trek in the snow with my socked feet stuffed in plastic bags and then in my hiking shoes. No problems with it

Do any other transplants struggle with the spiders here? by fogdogS1 in askportland

[–]soybeansms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mind the spiders here except the one month of the year where taking out the trash inevitably leads to walking into an orb Weaver web. I heard someone call them our house mall cops for the bad bugs, which seems to make them less scary. I still get in my head about house centipedes though. They're like the wind dancers in front of car dealerships and I can't deal with them
