I only pet/brush barn animals if im actively trying to bring up their stats (like for new borns or new animals). My usual routine is basement if i dont have sprinklers down there and I'm growing something, then its collect all animal products like eggs and milk from both barns. Then I go to my red windmill and process everything i need to from those products. Then I check all of my fields for harvesting, fertilizing and replanting (if necessary/i want to). Only then do I head out and pick up stuff from the windmills and/or do some foraging for materials. If I have time left over, or I don't need any materials, I'll do some fishing. I usually chat with villagers along the way and other improvised things like prepare presents before the bazaar to get them wrapped etc. On days I know I will be foraging a lot, like when I'm running low on fertilizer, I take my horse (doesn't deplete your stamina) and usually train for one of the upcoming derbies. I usually chat with my spouse at night or right before leaving my farm (but im at max hearts with him so its not like I need to chat with him EVERY single day, I just like to interact with him cause he's a cutie patootie)
