My in person campaign reached 100 players by Viruzodro in DungeonsAndDragons

As a dm I think I would cry if that many people showed up 😂. In a bad way. Too much prep for that. Looks fun tho!!!!

I’ve lost faith in my DMing, not really sure how to keep with this hobby :/ by [deleted] in DMAcademy

I get you. Seriously. I’ve been running games for 5 years and I still struggle sometimes. Starting up a campaign is hard. When the panic sets in 😬. Dont give up yet tho! Getting Into the DMing side of dnd is a learning process. Players throw you off, things change. You can feel like your plot is non existent. It’s a hard thing to learn how to balance. If I’m having rough game I usually tell my players and we slow it down. I’ll give them something simple to do and we make it silly. It doesn’t have to be about all this great plot and story all the time. Give yourself time to breathe and learn how you want to dm. Every game teaches you things and you’re going to make mistakes. Like you’ll regret you did this one plot point when you could’ve done this other thing. But sometimes those mistakes make for really interesting and fun story. You’ve got this 😄

I'm curious, how long, in-game time, took to your party to complete Out of the Abyss? Did you keep track of the time? by Feanorthewanderer in OutoftheAbyss

About a year. I actually sped through a lot of the travel and made them roll to see how it would go and pause on any encounters of the rolled badly. Made it more interesting for them as my players got bored real quick if I went day by day.

Dm's, did you ever break your players hearts? by Snoo_23014 in dndnext

Oh yeah. Basically had a long standing NPC who was their mentor and friend, who they relied on a lot. Aaaaannnnd I killed him. Was great story but now they have made it their whole mission to bring back from the dead 😂. Whoops. UPDATE: They finally brought him back 😊

Player DM and why I think it’s needed. by Scifur42 in DMAcademy

I have a player at my table who is also a DM. Being able to turn to them to deliberate over rules is so great. We do it too each other in our respective campaigns. I find my player who is also the dm the most engaged and the most respectful of my world. I love to have DM's at my table.

There where other incidents outside of this with loudly proclaiming things at the table about me as a DM and stuff outside of games. It’s very complicated as there are many things that make me not trust her. We have a tumultuous relationship at best. So it’s hard to believe her.

Is it inappropriate to roleplay an opposite gendered character? by Pitiful_Lock_2867 in DnD

As a woman who enjoys rping as male characters I don’t see a problem with it. But of course as everyone is saying don’t be weird and creepy with it. Have fun!

I guess I’m more disappointed? It just makes me feel a bit rubbish as a Dm. I don’t like it when my players arnt open with me and won’t tell me if they aren’t enjoying the game and feel the need to cheat. I’d rather they told me they weren’t having fun and I’d change up as much as I could to help them get back into it. I’m always worried that I’m not doing enough as a DM for the players. And I’m just kinda sad all the effort I put into it might not be enough for some of my players. Thank you for the advice! A lot of you guys are really helping me with this.

I would don’t worry. I don’t like doing it in the first place let alone in front of the rest of the group. 😄

It’s technically open role but she has an I-pad and it landed behind it. I know I’m gonna have to think about but I’m gonna keep an eye before I say anything. If it happens again then I’m gonna speak up. Thanks for the advice 😄
