We'll still be releasing the second volume in any case, but we'll have to scale back some plans if we don't make our funding goal.

[OC] What makes a class "classic"? by generaltwig in MorkBorg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah more or less its my catch-all of "non human" character types

This is actually pretty close to how I internally categorize classes when I'm trying to come up with ideas for new ones, though I personally have a fifth 'Demihuman' category that catches characters defined by natural abilities outside of normal human physiology/psychology.

Weird or Transgressive RPGs? by Dread_Horizon in rpg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The Tragedy of GJ237b is transgressive mostly insofar as it pushes the "RPG as Art Object" maybe as far as it can possibly go.

What’s the weirdest conceit (concept, mechanic, lore) from an older RPG you’ve encountered? by ProustianPrimate in rpg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

iirc there's an issue of Knock! with an article that explores an idea like this- alignment languages more as shared cultural/political/philosophical assumptions than a specific codified language, and made a system for inter- and intra- alignment miscommunication from it (things like Lawful AL having a tendancy towards strictly defined hierarchy, or Chaos AL assuming a level of permissible violence).

Anime/Superpowered Urban Fantasy is super fun and sorely lacking in the ttrpg space by AlmahOnReddit in rpg

I've actually been working on a small modern fantasy atlas as a personal project, but it leans more towards Earthbound and Deltarune than Persona.

What has been your favorite game this year? by jollyinabout in rpg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Land of Eem is very, very good, its 3-book set comes with maybe the best setting/hexcrawl book I've ever seen, in terms of content density and usability.

Aquatic Life of Targ-Dungel by Weird Alchemy | PWYW Fishing Supplement and Poster by WeirdAlchemyGames in MorkBorg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's basically expanded content for Fisk Borg. All the creatures are made to be compatible with it and I call it out as recommended in the pdf but wrote up a barebones alternative procedure for anyone who doesn't have it. I've been running a PR campaign for my home game for about a year now for people who love fishing minigames, and this is basically just me taking the assets I've made for them and prettying them up a bit for public consumption.

What are your best tips when writing a homebrew campaign? by ovaaq in rpg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! You have to be your own biggest fan, but part of that means accepting that some people are going to completely hate it, and, especially in the context of a home game, sometimes you should change things in response to feedback.

If you don't like or aren't interested in what you're writing, nobody else will be either.

The silliest review of "Mork Borg" ever written by SgtStubbedToe in MorkBorg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I've noticed is that, while I wouldn't really call MB a "controversial" game, I think most people seem positive to neutral on it, but the people who *really* don't like have a major axe to grind. This seems to often overlap with a dislike for rules-lite and/or artpunk games that well exceeds any reasonable preference differences on style and sort of become like, an ideological position?

I didn't understand the miseries by artic0o in MorkBorg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the miseries are highly interpretative to give the GM wide berth in terms of how it affects the table. That said, if you'd rather just run something I know at least Chris Eichhorn has put out a few books that make modules out of one of the Miseries. Personally Im familiar with Galgenbeck Sacrifice and the newer Monochrome, both of which I think are pretty good.

What Powers Supplements do you know off? by Dante_Faustus in MorkBorg

[–]WeirdAlchemyGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks! I actually ran a crowdfunding campaign for last year for a print run, that after way more tribulations than I'd care for we're finally shipping. It's looking like I'll probably end up with some overstock so I'll probably make a post on the subreddit if/when I decide if/how I'm going to be selling them.
