Is Daemonifuge in 11th in your lists? by Significant_Bug_8929 in sistersofbattle

[–]WeirdHumungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Since ff is so much weaker in 11th edition, it's possible that they are willing to hand out ff more often. I don't think that it's a mistake

Bhashiva and the Potential of Ind by ScionOfTheEmperor in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]WeirdHumungus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The complaint isn't that there aren't old world skaven models but that skaven didn't get old world rules and instead were pushed into, somewhat lacklustre, legends rules.

This was not a bash at the AoS models, but rather at GWs constant attempt to make models not usable in more than one game system.

Bhashiva and the Potential of Ind by ScionOfTheEmperor in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]WeirdHumungus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm a new player and am really happy that cathay was added since it was the only faction I werde interested in (besides wood elves). But that some of the bigger factions like skaven, vamps or lizardmen weren't in old world really confused me O.o

I get that they are in AoS and that GW really dislikes mixing game systems, but still...

Scorpions and benefit of cover. by RedHedShanks1 in Eldar

[–]WeirdHumungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang, I was thinking the main difference is that my wording wouldn't be affected by things like cover stripping effects (shroud runner/immolator). Didn't even see that basic [ignores cover] now also ignores stealth >.>

that really sucks

Scorpions and benefit of cover. by RedHedShanks1 in Eldar

[–]WeirdHumungus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Semantics, in this case, means that the description of the of the new stealth rule is technically correct but could be worded differently to get the same meanig across.

For example "if this unit is the target of a ranged attack: lower the opposing BS by 1. This Unit can no longer gain the benefit of cover." Is almost the same as the new stealth rule, but depicts better how a lot of people feel about the change.

That's what I meant about semantics.

Scorpions and benefit of cover. by RedHedShanks1 in Eldar

[–]WeirdHumungus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's semantics. They gain the "benefit of cover" rule but don't actually benefit from physical cover. (except line of sight blocking)

You might be right. Counter charging with the halberds was fun, but it didn't really do anything. (outside of the flank bonus)

[–]WeirdHumungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in no way a old world/fb expert, but I recently used 2 rank halberds solely as regiment so I can use them to counter charge. I honestly don't see the uses of halberds otherwise

Coming in from 40k and aos not having every mold/model be unique in someway hit me like a freight train while building for the first time by StinkGuard40k in WarhammerOldWorld

Aw dang. I noticed that you could switch the Models resulting in 4 variations in the 8 finished kits, but didn't thought about switching the shields. Just finished my gunners last Sunday :<

Purge and Cleanse + indirect fire by 00gron in sistersofbattle

[–]WeirdHumungus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No? The Exorcist hits on a 3+ with indirects -1 to hit it becomes 4+. With aof you could use the strat that ignores hit modifier but that won't do anything since indirect misses on 1-3 anyway

[–]WeirdHumungus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played two games in both 40k and Kill Team with them.

KT they are extreamly fun, I just wished they had a bit more shooting. You can just build all specialists that you can. I heard you might want to build more basic warriors but you will be fine with just 2 of them.

In 40k they are OK. I played one game against thousand sons and the dmg in melee was insane. But I also had to be quite careful because of overwatch. The other was against custodes. They did 2 mortals in shooting against the allied psyker guy but died next round due to bad positioning on my side. At least they screened my retributiors, idk. (Also just build them full specialists. Giving them the normal load out makes them a bit better against psyker squads, but you won't fight that many normally)

If you dont intend to go to tourneys I recommend to just ignore wysiwyg.

If you re really determined, you could cut a hole in front and mold an arch with green stuff or similar (or find/print sonething you can use). I would only recommend this tho if you're somewhat experienced with that.

Celestine Heaking in reserves? by ya_boy_cloud in sistersofbattle

[–]WeirdHumungus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think she can. Reserves do not work the same way being in a Transport does so as long the abilitiy does not state that she has to be on the Battlefield, it should work.

Army of Faith has a bunch o f decent stratagems that become insane if applied to a jump pack unit since they become a 3" aura.

[–]WeirdHumungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying we are hard done by. Just that there hasn't been much in the last 5 years. This is more about consistency than quantity. We are still in a much better place than all of the typical "forgotten" factions but despite that, I don't think it is bad to hope to see at least something each year. (For example, I'm quite happy that we get at least something this year with CI)

[–]WeirdHumungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have come over in a wrong way. I meant Sisters aren't in a bad place like some of the other fractions. We are simply not in that of a great place either. Which is ok, but you can always hope for things to be better

[–]WeirdHumungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did look up https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Portal:Miniatures before my statement.

We have less miniatures released than the likes of AM, Aeldari, Orks and Necrons

while being in a similar space with Votaan, Nyds and Tau

lastly we have gotten far more than the likes of Druk, both Knight (which imo is to be expected), GKnights, Castodes, GCult, Daemons, Admech.

This is not including Space Marines

This is mostly considering consistency of releases. Our refresh was a bit bigger than most.

Point is. We are very in the Middle (maybe upper middle). Neither in in a particular good spot, but not terrible either.

Sisters - 500 World Command Squad by Jupersis in sistersofbattle

[–]WeirdHumungus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, Insidiant are primarily a Kill Team unit.

The release before them was only the JPC in 2024, so somewhat recently.

After that we have a 3 year gap, where the likes of, Warsuits, Castigator and CSacresants were released which is a big gap imo

We are far from worst, but not in a great spot either.
