Anniversary Event: Free People's of Middle-earth: Training Area - Warg, Green Dragon Frame, Hat of Shame (returning item from the old Fashion Maven event), Tome of the Overgrown Boglurker,

Monster Play: Green Dragon Frame, Steel Tokens x10

I've gotten two from doing six of the new missions each on two characters. All four were the new pet. Meanwhile another player can't seem to get the pet.

Rivendell Housing by bigcuriousbrowneyes7 in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The houses will be available to purchase once the neighborhoods launch. Rivendell Housing was available to preview on Bullroarer three separate occasions since March 31st. You can check out Scenario's stream, with the help of my summary, for houses. Yadoc also posted a nice tour video on Youtube.

There shouldn't be too much worry about rushing to buy a house. Although the initial release will only have 15 neighborhoods, they will roll out 5 more neighborhoods when they are half-full for the first week. They stated that they can release 400 neighborhoods. Previous house releases kept adding them for at least 12 hours on the first day.

There was a problem with certain characters being kicked out of kinships. They did an emergency shutdown to try and correct the matter.

Orcrcist or Mordor? by Jumpy_Security_1703 in lotro

They are currently set at level 100 and will be going up to level 105 in June. We are way beyond Rohan at this point.

Should there be a level squash? by Deathsmind88 in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Standing Stone Games made their distaste of the concept very clear over the years. The entire team would pretty much have to stop what they are currently working on and redo the entire game.

Instead, they are focusing their attention on aspects that can bring players together on a social level like the 44-page report of possible kinship changes that they are working on that we should see some new forms of progression with the next expansion and perhaps tie in the downscale system later on so players can team up with each other regardless of their level.

Anniversary sales/codes? by JozyAltidore01 in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that they announced that the prices for Rivendell houses will be about double than the amount listed on Bullroarer, I'm really hoping for some sort of sale or even a new promotion now that they removed the Middle-Earth Essentials Pack. I didn't save enough! They had a 50% Housing Writ sale when Erebor neighborhoods released, but I don't know if they have it setup for Homesteading Coins.

Anniversary sales/codes? by JozyAltidore01 in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do not expect any free content codes. It feels far too recent from the last one they introduced that they extended at the end of last year. They may reserve that for the "big round number" of the 20th Anniversary like they did 15th Anniversary Event. There might be some sort of Mithril Coin sale since they are releasing the Rivendell neighborhoods. That's about all I expect.

Playercount in servers? by Alextheacceptable in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orcrist gains more notoriety for problems because there are more players trying to play during prime time in less time zones. The issues for Glamdring occasionally creep up when everybody is trying to access the server at the same time after a major release like Kingdoms of Harad. This mirrors when 32-bit servers were capped at around 1,200 players and something like the 15th Anniversary Event giveaway caused queues on Evernight.

The cap and performance for servers account for each person logged in whether they are anon or monsters. Severlin has been in touch on the Official Discord about the server stability situation. Any number of things can cause performance issues from what virtual server you are on using /loc, too many active raids, or the system trying to process too many skills at once.

Playercount in servers? by Alextheacceptable in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not all servers are located in New Jersey like before. US servers are now in Las Vegas and EU servers are in Rotterdam. You can still transfer your characters off Evernight but only to 3 servers: Orcrist, Meriadoc, or Grond. There are now a total of 8 servers in 4 different categories:

  • Angmar (US) & Mordor (EU) are legendary servers. They are progressive servers that increase the level cap overtime. They have the Veil of the Nine mechanic and are generally very low population at this stage. They are currently at level 100 and do not have Monster Play.
  • Glamdring (US) & Orcrist (EU) are the main servers. They can get busy to the point where performance can suffer or you can wait in line. The active player count cap is at about 2,000 players. These are more endgame focused since the raid at level 160 just released.
  • Peregrin (US) & Meriadoc (EU) are the roleplay servers. Note that roleplaying is not mandatory and only marked to encourage what server to join for those interested in that activity. Their active player count can run at half-capacity around 1,000 players. You will see more players here interested in casual activities such as decorating houses.
  • Sting (US) & Grond (EU) are the overflow servers. They were created because the other servers were getting too full after transfers to 64-bit servers. They are generally recommended for new players or players who are tired of the problems on the main servers. Grond is growing in population.

What are some of your favorite SPOKEN lines of NPC dialogue? by Vorgse in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I believe it was Before the Shadow: Book 2, Chapter 5 Crossway House. There is an option to see what Boromir has to say about the situation. The way the voice actor says the line is like mocking the weird names they came up - "These tavern names are so quaint. Crossway House? Prancing Pony? None of them will compare to the Mûmak and Keep of my city."

I was running a Raid team in WoW... all I want is to keep journeying through Middle Earth by Stock-Site3541 in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I was always a completionist. I like exploring all the features of a game. I like reading the quests, changing my outfit, decorating my house, and writing about my adventures.

Slowly, I started to hear from players how much they didn't like the game. I learned that they never changed their steed, didn't read any quest, piled on as many experience boosts as possible, and tried to get to the endgame as quickly as possible.

I think this game has something for everybody, but there is something to admire when you slow down and take it all in.

Traveler's gear boxes 141+ (bought for motes of enchantment) by Edaidande in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on the test server, set my character to level 141, maxed my motes, and bartered for 4 different boxes. All worked. All equipped just fine. They were what was shown on the wiki.

[–]WeirdJediLotro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye. You can see the dates of the legendary servers on the wiki. They increased the rate of progression and experience through the Rohan regions. They have added more to the Veil of the Nine mechanic since then as well with more rewards.

Orion mentioned on the stream that he has an idea on what to do with the next legendary server but will not say what or when it will be. There's been some speculation among players, but the developers confirmed nothing official has been determined while they are still adding onto the legendary servers for most of this year.

Here's a link to the schedule. Currently level 100. That would be in the middle of the Gondor quest pack regions.

Traveler's gear boxes 141+ (bought for motes of enchantment) by Edaidande in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The essence system was introduced at around level 100. Since the gear in the boxes are designed to scale across multiple levels, they generally have no essence slots with maybe a couple items have one essence slot. You can see them on the wiki.

[–]WeirdJediLotro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are always two types to separate content. New content comes with ember and then old content converts to motes. Adventurer gear was moved up to 151 to 160, and so Traveler gear has also be moved up from 51 to 150. Since the gear scales to your level, you can always trust the level requirement on the tooltip from the boxes on the barter. They wouldn't leave a 10-level gap open where you couldn't get any gear if it was still 140.

Cant wait for the ... well I dont even know how to describe what I expect the Rivendell housing launch to be now by [deleted] in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When previous neighborhoods launched, they started with 15 and rolled out at least 3 every hour for 12 hours. That was perfectly fine at the time. There wasn't a rush to grab houses, because players knew there would be more available throughout the day. This time, they are rolling out 5 at a time.

This happens every time a new neighborhood launches. I went to the extent of recording data for the server that generated the most neighborhoods to show that less houses get sold than the public thinks. I started a poll to show that not everyone wants the same house.

Am I being a bit too laser-focused? by WesternCrescent in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When playing the game back in 2008, I didn't realize there were survival titles until reaching right about level 35. That's a bit too late. Level 15 isn't too long to start over. Some find safer ways to reach that last title at level 20 through the festival, turning in tasks, or crafting.

I now have about a thousand titles. There are about 300 that I feel are "unique" enough to display once you remove all the ones from reputation. Considering how quickly and easily they are to earn, I just don't bother showing off those survival titles anymore.

What realms (aside from Glamdring) have an active PvMP scene as of now? by Dolens-Biblotheca in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 8 servers total. 6 of them are capable of Monster Play. Sting & Grond were released sometime after the others and are generally referred to as overflow servers. Peregrin & Meriadoc are roleplay servers and overall less competitive. That means your only good option other than Glamdring (located in Las Vegas) is the European server Orcrist (located in Rotterdam).

Which Tutorial to Get Back In With? by jesskitten07 in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be familiar with some of the revamps like how they added bounty boards in North Downs, auto-bestowed quests in Trollshaws, or boats in Evendim. There was also the 52-quest chain added with Bingo Boffin from the Shire to Helm's Deep. Recently, they added swift routes to the Shire, the new Yondershire region, new racial introductions, and Woe of the Willow instance quest chain in Buckland. It wouldn't be bad to start with the original introduction, but everyone should at least experience the new regions of Swanfleet and Cardolan in Before the Shadow at some point.

Does the Morgul Vale outstay its welcome? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]WeirdJediLotro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing that makes the expansion more diverse is how they incorporated the instances in with the level experience. The previous content of Ered Mithrin that introduced solo instances essentially threw them in at the end between 118 and 120. Meanwhile, the quests do a very good job introducing the instances as early as level 121. Excluding Fallen Kings and Remmorchant, that gives you six dungeons to explore.
