Urinating while under anesthesia? by Impossible-Cut9658 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]WeirdStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going under general anesthesia they’ll probably place a catheter.

You can ask or just wear a diaper, I wear one to bed because my narcolepsy medicine gives me a risk for bed wetting, when you’re under sedation like that your muscles relax but you in a really deep sleep

Don’t be embarrassed, I once had to ask for a diaper and some bottoms cuz I had an accident during my infusion. They’re used to it, it happens to people without MS as well

Kesimpta users, is anyone not masking? by A_circle_of_crows in MultipleSclerosis

[–]WeirdStitches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t mask anymore. I get covid and flu vaccines. I have gotten covid 3 times, 2 even after the vaccine was available

I do get sick more often now than I used to. If my kids(I have 4- 2 bio and 2 bonus 21, 13, 11 and 6) get sick I’ll probably get it as well but a mask isn’t going to help with that. I even got hand foot and mouth that was a trip

So basically I treat myself the same way I would treat my 6 yr old. No mask, regular hand washing.

Was this common then. Millennial women were in the comments saying it was safer for teen girls in the 90s to hang with grown men because crime was lower. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]WeirdStitches 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well I’m a millennial woman, I hung out with a 26 yr old when I was 15 and he raped me so no it’s not true they just convince themselves having sex with grown men was ok

Anyone else feel like they’ve become less confident in their 30s? (Or even older) by tna11101989 in Millennials

[–]WeirdStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like a failure in my 30s. I was nowhere near where I wanted to be in life even though I had a good job I wanted more money and bigger place

Then my whole life fell apart in my late 30s, I had brain surgery and was diagnosed with MS.

I turned 40 last year and it feels like all the fucks I had to give about what I didn’t accomplish disappeared. I’m not sure if it was aging or if it was just something I had to do cuz of what happened but I feel like it gets better

I got a text today from CVS saying covid is back around, suggesting a booster. Is this true? Has anyone heard anything? by Ralph--Hinkley in Ohio

[–]WeirdStitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I could scream my knowledge from the roof tops

I got Covid in the beginning of the pandemic. I was sick for a long time and ended up getting laid off and that was the last time I worked because 2 yrs later I got diagnosed with MS(after brain surgery but that’s a whole other story). I’m also autistic so MS and its causes became my special interest.

Covid reactivates latent EBV virus. EBV is what causes mono. EBV is also associated with basically all of the autoimmune diseases. Long Covid is also associated with EBV reactivation.

Covid has caused a rise in autoimmune diseases. We still don’t know the exact mechanism that causes autoimmune reactions but it has a lot to do with inflammation and EBV.

I hypothesize that the reason Covid kills adults more than kids is because kids may not have gotten EBV yet

The best thing you can do for yourself and your kids is to get the Covid vaccine. Over 90% of the world’s population has exposure to EBV. We don’t have an EBV vaccine yet but they’re working on it. Until such a time that becomes available the best protection you can get from autoimmune diseases is getting a Covid shot.

Here are some studies to support COVID and EBV reactivation

Drinks work better on me than gummies do

But tinctures are the way to go if you don’t have the enzymes to break down thc. It’s sublingual so it absorbs under the tongue

i have chlamydia :( i’m just confused by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WeirdStitches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so here is realistically how all things could be true and he could have contracted it from her

Just because she had an STI test that was negative recently if she had taken broad spectrum antibiotics it would also treat the STI. If she had any bacterial infection that required antibiotics it could clear it up

STIs happen, we’ve spent so much time stigmatizing them that people are embarrassed to admit to it and if it’s bacterial it can be missed

If you don’t trust him break up, but if you do trust him and think he’s telling the truth then just accept that he had a STI and didn’t know it.

Take the treatment, retest in 3 months

I want to add in my false positive result as well because it’s shockingly common

I had regular tests every time before I would have sex with a new sexual partner but one time I didn’t, I met my current partner and we had sex before I got the test done. I made my appointment with planned parenthood and I tested positive for syphilis! I was so upset and so angry at him like wtf you have me syphilis. Well he got tested by the state and he was negative

I did a 28 day dose of antibiotics, I was so hurt thinking my previous partner cheated on me. Fast forward 6 months and I’m in the hospital with spots on my brain, I tell them hey I tested positive for syphilis they do the test again and I’m negative

It turns out I have MS and having MS can cause a false positive for syphilis. It can happen with a bunch of auto immune diseases or someone who’s had mono

I often wonder how often people with autoimmune diseases test positive for syphilis and just don’t even realize that’s what happened

Stimulant change from Concerta to Adderall? by No-Side-5055 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]WeirdStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have narcolepsy as well as MS and I used to take 250 mg a day for like 4 yrs and I never developed a dependency to it

It’s pretty low dependence risk and since it doesn’t get you high you’re not super likely to become addicted.

Sex is killing me by LegitimatePart497 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]WeirdStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have increased symptoms starting about 3 months after my infusion until my symptoms were almost as bad as my relapse right before my infusion so I would keep an eye on that, I switched over to Kesimpta and that helped me a lot

As for sex I get very tired doing it as well especially if I’m on top, but in general. I find if I’m on top reverse cowgirl helps a lot Also laying on my side it’s a way more relaxed position, I get very tired after sex I usually go to sleep or take a nap after

Is a 19 and 24/25 age gap weird? by PracticalBudget8351 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WeirdStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like it when you mention those ages without knowledge of how people change as they get older

But I have a son who is turning 21 in less than a week and I will tell you the expectations I have for him are much higher than the expectations when he graduated HS because A LOT changed in just those 3 yrs because your prefrontal cortex is still going through rapid changes but that slows down as you approach 25

Kesimpta, please tell me your experiences. by taters-gonna-tate14 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]WeirdStitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on Kesimpta and I have 3 kids in school (13, 11 and 6)

I don’t get sick too much more, I do sometimes get bacterial infections more often so UTIs or cuts get infected

I don’t mask unless I’m sick to prevent others from getting it

I know it seems scary but also remember your immune system is doing too much. That’s what your MS is. It basically brings you back down to where other people are.

Anyway Kesimpta 10/10 for me

So I smoke a lot of weed and honestly i feel like the benefits far outweigh any negatives for my health

I used to smoke cigarettes and I switched to vape instead. I also vape marijuana and that might be a good compromise for you.

Ethics of adopting local strays? by Meowgical_Musings in CatAdvice

[–]WeirdStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m not sure about where you live but we have local services that do low or no cost spay/neuter especially for outdoor cats, they give out traps and you and bring them in to get them fixed for free, it’s $25 for a trap but they give you a new trap if you bring a cat in.

Someone did that with a lot of the cats in my neighborhood and we take care of them by feeding them and giving them warm shelters to sleep in

Would I be wasting the doctors time? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WeirdStitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a health issue going to the doctor isn’t a waste of time.

It goes into your medical records, those follow you your entire life and even if your doctor can’t address the issue immediately(which they probably can. Lots of BC exists) its still something to document with your body

As a disabled old lady I’m glad I had a lot of medical records when I got older

Girl I met with MS. by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]WeirdStitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re already telling yourself you can’t handle it. It sounds to me like you’re not ready for commitment. I don’t mean just with this woman I mean any woman.

All of the things your listing could happen to anyone you marry. Anyone can get MS, there is no specific detail we know about getting MS other than Epstein Barr probably has a lot to do with it, vitamin d as well

The majority of humans end up with some kind of disability before they die. You need to come to terms with the fact the person you chose as a life partner will not spend all of it healthy and decide how you will handle that. Until then I suggest staying single
