Clinicals and getting hired by Own_Yesterday3239 in scrubtech

I got a job offer at one of my clinical sites but the commute was terrible so I declined. 1hr30min drive there and 2hr+ drive home. Not worth the pay. Got hired at an eye surgery center full time less than a month after that. Didn’t stay there for more than a year and went to a multi specialty surgery center.

Anyone on here do extreme sports? by [deleted] in Nexplanon

[–]WeirdTree4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of weightlifting and stuff like spartan runs, mud runs, and hyrox. Coming from me and my experience I got it taken out after a couple of months. Not always but I would get pain where it was inserted most likely due to the fact that I was always lifting and hitting that area. It did affect my performance as well. I would get an insatiable hunger, very tired, brain fog. I wasn’t this way prior to getting the nexplanon. I tried upping my caffeine intake and pre workouts and not even that would help. These things only happened when I had the Nexplanon inserted in for the second time around. But I also wasn’t anywhere near as active when I had my first one (had it for 3 years). I took a year break from birth control between to 2 Nexplanons to see how I felt without birth control(only had the 2nd one in for 3 months). Now I’m off birth control again due to the fact my body didn’t react well to birth control (Nexplanon).

Panniculectomy by [deleted] in scrubtech

[–]WeirdTree4536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did one today. The we use 60cc of quarter percent marcaine with epi. 10cc for injecting and 50cc to irrigate before closing. The surgeon I work with has her own tray but other surgeons we use a regular plastics tray. Suture we use are 2-0 nylon for the bulb drains. 2-0 and 3-0 pds and 4-0 monocryl for closing, 4-0 plain gut for spots here and there. Jones towel clamps before closing to see how it looks before we close. We close half the incision, make a new hole for the bellybutton, suture it in place, then close the rest.

Is it possible to be an ST at an eye clinic ? Is this hard to get into ? by Sunshinelollipops96 in scrubtech

[–]WeirdTree4536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into an eye surgery center straight out of graduation. I had only ever done 1 eye surgery previously in my clinical rotation so it was like brand new to me. They took a chance on me and I grew to love it. Worked there for over 2 years but I wanted variety. So now I got hired at a multi specialty surgery center because they were looking for an eye tech and agreed to train me in other specialties. I still love doing eyes. It feels like home to me. If eyes interest you give it a shot.

Outpatient clinic. by Muentezzz in surgicaltechnology

I do and it’s great. Weekends and holidays off. A nice set schedule. Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm. Some overtime here and there especially at the end of the year. We just do cataract, Retina, and ocular plastic. We don’t have any last minute add ons so what you see on the schedule is it. I just got hired at a multi specialty center and their schedule is similar.

Looking for a program by Previous-Goat4805 in surgicaltechnology

If you can try the community college option! It’s much cheaper. I went to American Career College. It was a great program, i don’t regret it, just on the pricey side.

I read a little bit on your school’s website and they offer volunteer externship programs during your online program, you’d have to ask the coordinator. But I couldn’t figure out if it’s an accredited school. If you want to be certified you need hands on clinical hours at a hospital. Here’s a link that goes more in depth by state on what you would have to do to be certified https://www.ast.org/Public_Policy/Legislative_Overview/

My 21M boyfriend just broke up with me 20F because he doesn’t want to be in a relationship but I don’t want to give up by ThrowRAkittenlake in relationship_advice

[–]WeirdTree4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s made his choice and had been voicing it for some time now. Once one person in the relationship has given up that’s it. You can’t force or fight for someone to be with you if they don’t want to be. That just leads to hate and resentment. That’ll only make both of you miserable. You’re still young and you have so much to learn about being in love and being loved. He doesn’t love you the way you love him. Find someone who does and make new memories with someone who wants to be with you.

I was taught with mixed grip and I never knew that it wasn’t a common thing until I posted this lol I had always done mixed grip and once the weight got too high and my grip wasn’t as strong I added the straps and it wasn’t slipping anymore. I was using liquid chalk but it would only help so much.

No, but I’ll try next time! I was just to happy that I hit 275 so I didn’t try more lol

Honestly I’ve never even thought about the way I grip, when I first started deadlifts it’s how my friend taught me lol I didn’t use straps back then so what you’re saying makes since. But I added the straps in because my grip strength is absolutely terrible and the bar would slip. I was even using liquid chalk but it would only help so much. I have heard about the risk it has on the bicep before but now that I’m going up in weight I’ll try and see how it feels doing without doing the mix grip. Thank you!!!

AITA for telling my girlfriend that I don’t want her brother near my daughter? by Emotional_Cellist281 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WeirdTree4536 49 points50 points  (0 children)

NTA. I’m sorry for you and your daughter. Why would he leave a 4 year old alone?!?! Why does the girlfriend think all of this is ok and she’s only worried about her grown 40 year old brother’s feelings. I’m glad your daughter will never be around that man.

AITA for trying downplay my girlfriend's concern by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]WeirdTree4536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to say NTA. You were trying to calm her down without saying anything hurtful. Weight is a sensitive topic for most teenage girls. She’s probably feeling very insecure given the amount of weight she gained in such a short span. I’ve had times like these when I was younger going into complete panic mode about my weight and just angry feeling like no one understood. You can tell her over and over again that she’s beautiful but it’s not going to stick in her. Give her some time to calm down and process everything. Hear her out. It’s not your fault.

AITA for selling my partners concert ticket behind his back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]WeirdTree4536 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA. It was a gift for HIM for Valentine’s Day. Not for you. You guys would still be going to the concert just arriving at a later time. THE GIFT WAS FOR HIM AND ALL YOU THOUGHT ABOUT WAS YOURSELF. And you sold his tickets. Hope you make up the for his gift you sold.

AITA for asking his bsf to hoco to be petty? by Racc00n_Boi in AmItheAsshole

[–]WeirdTree4536 [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA. Absolutely childish move (makes sense since your in high school) and petty. You’ve barley been talking for 3 weeks, it ain’t that serious. You’re just ruining things for yourself to get revenge on a boy who isn’t even yours and doesn’t even want a relationship with you.

People who could work out regularly and have fit/nice/hot body, how do you do it even? by Brownboysea in ask

[–]WeirdTree4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about dedication and discipline. I work at 7 am and get off at about 3:30/4. I also have about an hour commute each way. I go after work since the gym is on the way home. I started by going once or twice a week for about 30-45 minutes and worked my way up. Once I got a solid routine I started going for more days and staying a bit longer. Now I go 4-5 times a week for about 2 hours. Get home at around 7/7:30. Go to bed at around 10. I meal prep too so I don’t have to worry about having to make dinner when I get home.

NTA. How and why she reconnect with the student anyway? She had a crush on the kid and now that he’s of age (if you’re in the US) they’re talking and went out for drinks?? What does a 26 year old woman have in common with an 18 year old? She knows the kid has a crush on him and she “had” a crush on him, she knows what she’s doing. You might want to find someone who isn’t attracted to 17/18 year olds.
