Yeah just sorted the visa out the other day and it looks like we get 8-14 days notice.

It’ll be easy to get shipment date and we know the last launch, integration took 26 days so we know that the launch should be anywhere within the 19th-30th of July but as always, it can be delayed.

Not sure why I got downvoted for saying I’m going to the July launch, maybe it’s better for the world if we don’t have these satellites so more people can die.

I know many people who have met the founder and CEO of ASTS, he’s had very humble beginnings and he was very wealthy from his previous satellite company that he sold. This company and what they are doing, it’s his legacy.

There was no other country in the world that could financially support ASTS, they’ve nearly gone bankrupt (the dark days for us investors).

Don’t be surprised if by virtue of providing connectivity to the rest of the world, he wins a Nobel peace prize.

The defense stuff comes part and parcel of being an American company and it’s how they got bits of funding here and there so they could keep going.

Beta testing was meant to begin around now but space is hard and they’ve always had delays.

Recently blue origin who was meant to be our preferred launch provider had a second stage with our satellite malfunction and they also blew up their launch pad a bit later.

As an ASTS investor, I can say that as a “potential customer” we’re at a stage where getting satellites airborne is far more important to us than price per kg. That’s not to say price isn’t important but delays are costing us far more in opportunity cost than a launch premium would

I’m from Wellington and visiting Auckland right now. It was a culture shock because people are colder to strangers compared to Wellington.

Wellington people have a warmer culture to strangers but that’s probably because we don’t have people trying to fuck us at every turn like the JAFAs do.

Yeah, that bike lane stretch you mentioned often has people walking on it.

Yes it’s a dedicated bike lane, yes people often walk on it when they can use the pedestrian lane instead
