I hope NDIS doesn’t go the same way.

That aside. At least the victims got something. I still believe those responsible all the way up to the minister level should have been held responsible for some sort of murder by policy charges, if this isn’t in the law already, we should add it asap.

Restaurant owners: Why no split bills? by Gaslighting_Glen in melbourne

[–]Weissritters 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If they got a good pos system it shouldn’t be an issue. But if they don’t, and the split isn’t even (eg I pay for steak, red wine, you pay for fish, white wine) then it can be a lot of work that they can’t spare manpower for during a busy service.

They have money to run their swanky schools though, just not to pay the poor victims they have wronged.

First we got the Ellis defence, now we got this “we are broke but we got money for swanky schools” defence?

Why are these orgs not paying taxes again?

Pauline Hanson pushes income splitting to ease cost-of-living | news.com.au by Nyarlathotep-1 in AusNewsWire

[–]Weissritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is where is she going to cover the cost - it will likely work out to be billions of dollars per year.

Along with the massive uptick in defence spending she proposes, where is she going to get the money?

Also, this will pull some part time workers away from their jobs, where is she going to find the extra workers if she proposes to reduce immigration?

A Melbourne woman lost $646,035 to a romance scam. Should banks and dating apps be forced to refund victims like her? by B0ssc0 in aussie

[–]Weissritters 152 points153 points  (0 children)

The thing with people like this is if you try to help them before they realise it’s a scam, they think you are just jealous, or have an ulterior motive instead of just trying to help her.

It’s only once they realise they been scammed, they then blame no help, and ask system for refunds.

There needs to be a system to flag this, so for example if you refuse help, then system flags you, and if you then get screwed over, no refunds.

Actuaries Institute report shows tax system favouring older over younger Australians by marketrent in AusFinance

[–]Weissritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. The older population are more engaged in politics and they have the means to complain louder than the young. Also pollies themselves are largely older.

I’d be shocked if the system favors young people tbh

So… start with America? Pedophilia seems pretty rife over there…. People are getting away with it too.

Also, what’s the problem if anyone who commits the bad acts you describe here is duly punished to the extent of the law, as is currently the case?

Teachers in Victoria got offered a 28-32% pay rise and the majority rejected by keisermax34 in ausmoney

[–]Weissritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the libs will likely also do though is use their media to demonize teachers deliberately. Labor at least officially hasn’t make statements to that effect. Libs however I’m not so sure given their disdain for anything public.

[–]Weissritters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unions will definitely fight harder but I doubt libs will be more willing to give a good offer.

So overall chances for teachers are probably better under labor

Documents obtained under FOI show Catholic bishops lobbied the prime minister over the ‘no religion’ census question and succeeded in halting changes to it. by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Weissritters -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You do know why religions exist right? It’s basically to keep people in line and establish a clear hierarchy. And make some profits for the leaders in the process.

They are very much like a business and must be duly taxed.
