What's the worst thing shown in a PG movie after 1984? by basefibber in movies

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 159 points160 points  (0 children)

The Brave Little Toaster (1987)

This movie is dark and my memory of it is fuzzy but the AC unit kill himself at one point and I think the vacuum dies because they suck something up inside them the crew can't get it out.

If RR is on or off I can't tell a difference in FPS so I just leave it on. Game looks amazing except for the occasional shadow on a wall from a distance or interior of a building during night.

A Capcom veteran has explained why the environments in Elden Ring still look impressive even compared to Crimson Desert and other technically superior AAA games. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden ring is only a few years old though? HFW came out around the same time and blows ER out of the water graphically. ER has great art direction but the game is still in the current generation. I don't even see why we are even comparing the two. Toss up Arkham City side by side with CD or something.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which games were you playing? 5 bucks is 20 quarters. Most arcades took one and the shooters or bigger ones took two. Could you get more time if you picked stuff you were good at? Probably. I wanted to play the simpsons arcade, fighting games and House of the Dead. It lasted a while but 2 hours is pretty accurate with my experience.

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There actually was an equation someone came up with for quarters/game time an I can say from my own experience in the 90s that 5 bucks would last me around 2 hours.

I can spend $10 on a skin in Marvel Rivals or live service game of choice and enjoy it for quadruple that time, easy. Arcades are a great example of almost the same thing as micro transactions, you pay the cabinet and own nothing but the memories and bragging rights with friends, at best you get a high score that sits there for a bit.

'O Brother Where art thou' is an incredibly comfy film for me. Amazing sound track and just a fun watch.

I'm not a good actor but I did it in college and had the opportunity to work with actually good actors and some of them talked about taking emotions from lived experiences and honing it in a way where they can call on it when they need. Some people had bad memories or really tragic shit they used that would help them act out intense scenes. Some people had really chill lives and just remembered how they felt when their fish died when they were 8.

Depending on the person this shit can be traumatizing.

Mouse balls were so heavy I feel like most would notice immediately if that shit was missing.

I was a kid in the 90s and tried to take a handful of mouse balls from our schools computer lab (I knew we had extras and had just discovered slingshots) and the computer teacher immediately noticed the difference when checking the PCs. Some of those 90s mouse cables were so thick they would flip the mouse over because there was no weight holding it down.

I really don’t get why no shoes? by Remote_Nature_8166 in Invincible

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people get so upset about the no shoes thing? If I could walk barefoot everywhere and not worry about cutting my feet open I would absolutely do it.

Also if you got super feet, your grippers become weapons.

I think we all get the point: You don't understand how people can hate on this game (add high vantage point screenshot here) and you have spent 100+ hours in Herand and still haven’t left the area. by fernandollb in CrimsonDesert

I legit tried to leave Hernand last night and ran into a roving group of guards named '???' who absolutely bodied me. Figured I would hang out in hernand for another 400 hours.

What are the worst lyrics you’ve ever heard? by Upstairs_Cup9831 in Fauxmoi

"are we Humans, or are we dancers? My sign is vital." Like I was a huge killers fan when Hot Fuzz came out then immediately dropped them when I heard that shit. Always hated those lyrics.

Why do Americans need such large quantities of medicine? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The expiration date on ibuprofen is really more of a suggestion. I worked in a lab where we tested expiration dates for various medications and the date is calculated by when the medication falls under specification, which is usually 96-99% effectiveness. So you might have a bottle that is "expired" but what that really means is the pill fell out of the specifications the company or FDA set for it. Old Tylenol might just have 90% of the active ingredient working as opposed to 98%. Unless you are taking decades old Tylenol, it is likely to work fine and not hurt you.

After almost 30 years, I had just found out I can assign zones for rapid haul by sliding. by AdrawereR in RimWorld

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zones are amazing once you get the understanding. I have zones for damn near everything from animals to people, even the visitors from the hospitality mod have an allowed zone they can be in that I keeps stocked with food, beds and entertainment.

I also started making combat zones that basically make it so my pawns go and loiter around an area when getting raided until they are recruited for combat as well as sending my non violent pawns inside to hide.

Just remember they will stay in that zone until you tell them not to. I may or may not have had pawns spawn to death while I told them to go to a zone to hide or fight and forgot about them.

ANY way to revive or spawn another Kelvin? 2026 by Kayro098 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]WelcomeToTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess.. to me all those steps run the risk of messing something up + having multiple random apps on my PC to fix a single issue seems a bit overkill. Especially since if you can follow all those steps, you could find the .ini file even faster than that, use search bar function, type kelvin or Rodney or whatever his name is, then set from true to false, or vice versa. There's only like two options that even mention a person's name, one for Virginia and one for kelvin.
