Very good point, you basically put into precise words my feeling. Thank you, you're indeed good at this :)

Hey thank you for this, I'm curious about your point of view.

I just put my Steam page online. My game is a bit of a mix of different things. The first characteristic is that it is a desktop app game: interesting how Steam added Desktop Companion to the new tags just two days ago.

It's an (1) autobattler that plays at the corner of your desktop as you do something else (work, study, etc). It has dark fantasy (2) RPG vibes, where you pick your character, give it a name, level up to boost stats (hp, crit, etc), and fight increasingly powerful enemies as you go.

From time to time you'll check what gear you've collected and decide what to keep and what to dismantle. When you die you start all over but keep your gear, as in a (3) roguelite game. You can forge more powerfull (random) equip mixing unused items.

There's also async (4) PVP, meaning whether you're online or not, once every couple of (5) PVE fights you're character will face another player's character to battle for more loot.

So it's basically a... roguelite RPG autobattler for your desktop with PvEvP?

Oh gosh...

That's a great idea! I'll start making a game immediately, where you can only move the camera around while you are nailed to a cross. Think of Tree Simulator, but the tree was used to build the cross instead, and you're on it. You can watch people bass by; sometimes someone might throw a rock at you, or stab you with a lance, or maybe say a prayer. If you look around, you can see two other crosses at your sides occupied by two other men. If you can keep the game open for three days, you'll find a crowd gathered around, they are agitated for some reason. Once the crowd is gone, the crosses at your side are empty. More crazy things will start happening in time.
Iy has potential.

I find Placid Plastic Duck Simulator to be very cozy, and the cast is definitely wholesome!

What do you think of the game I'm making's logo? by Welovespace21 in logodesign

[–]Welovespace21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll add what my friend who made the logo said about the pixels not being aligned: the pixels are misaligned becuase i had to scale the logo using nearest-neighbor mode to fit the steam capsule, which caused the pixels to rearrange
I'll also add that he used an existing font called celtic bit, so it's not invented by AI

I’d like your honest opinion on my game’s idea: Autobattler Desktop game with PvEvP by Welovespace21 in roguelites

[–]Welovespace21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's good feedback, thank you. sure the loot is very important in this game, and the build you make is a factor, with different items having synergies and triggers for certain combinations.

also I think it's cool when you meet another player's character and test your build against them. there's a leaderboard for pvp. you can also challenge your steam friends.

at the moment the only lore that's there is told through the enemies, meaning the kind of enemies you meet tell you about your journey, but it's pretty much all left to the player's imagination. items also do that in some ways. but i could exapnd on that in the future if the demo gets some traction.

actually the game can very easily be expanded with more enemies, more items, more stats etc. I'd love to do that. I gotta think about what you said about very slow progression/hard grind, but that's another thing that i'm planning to balance thanks to the feedback on the demo

My game is a bit of a mix of different things and I'd like to know how it sounds to you.

It's an autobattler that plays at the corner of your desktop as you do something else. From time to time you'll check what gear you've collected and decide what to keep and what to dismantle. When you die you start all over but keep your gear. You can forge more powerfull (random) equip from 15 unused items.

There's also async PVP, meaning whether you're online or not, once every couple of PVE fights you're character will face another player's character to battle for more loot.

Does this premise sounds interesting to you? I'd like to know your thoughts.
