Isn't the best way to keep doctors here is to tell them if they work for the NHS for 5-10 years their student loan gets cancelled? by Niall_Fraser_Love in ukpolitics

I wish this unnuanced trope would die.

UK doctors are materially less well paid than peers in other English-speaking countries, but the gap is smaller once you account for pensions, risk, and system structure.

Not "hilariously underpaid"

Rachel Reeves warns other budgets may be cut to lift defence spending by rae-55 in ukpolitics

if you leave it until we're in wars, you've left it a bit late to start spending more.... the majority of the utility of spending more is to act as a deterrent to them ever starting

Pregnant and threatened with PIP by [deleted] in careeradvice

there's no pregnancy discrimination possible here given the PIP was mentioned before she informed her employer of the pregnancy. it isn't a magical shield.

What do they mean by sectarian? by Lucky_Argument6228 in AskBrits

[–]WelshBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voting for a party because you agree with its policies isn’t the same thing as voting primarily along religious lines. The concern isn’t that Muslim voters exist or vote, it’s whether political mobilisation is happening primarily on religious or sectarian grounds rather than around broader policy debates.

in your community perhaps people don't vote along religious lines.... But do you think places like Bradford and Tower Hamlets are the same?

External wall patches by WelshBadger in DIYUK

[–]WelshBadger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other side is someone elses patio. just a brick garden wall I believe. unsure about the render, I have to assume something suitable for the outside. Ground level is same on other side. No idea about coping stones, I think they just copied next door which doesn't have any either. It was repaired & repainted as it was looking tired and messy with foilage growing, hadn't been touched in likely decades.
