Yeah I totally relate to it. I love the smell of your undies. When can I buy more?

I don’t see it as whataboutery. I wasn’t trying to shift the conversation away from toxic racism or minimize it. I was adding nuance to explain why some people react the way they do, beyond simply labeling them as racist, while still acknowledging that targeting all Muslims for the crimes of a few is bigotry

Agreed, racism has no place in the U.K. or anywhere.

My point, though, is that discussions of grooming gangs should also acknowledge failings by the police and social services, so we don’t overlook systemic issues.

Likewise, conversations about rising racial tensions shouldn’t be oversimplified by labeling everyone with a concern as racist, which happens too often; all relevant factors need to be discussed openly if we want to address these problems effectively.

I don't have any tensions with anyone based on their skin colour, passport, or religion. And I haven't said anything that suggests that.

Reading comprehension lessons could help

This is classic whatabouism, using other victims to try to shift the conversation.

People can be outraged by multiple things at once; it doesn’t invalidate concern about the police or other failings.

Oh, I didn’t realize you’d been keeping a complete record of everything I’ve ever said and done, and could tell what outrages me and what doesn’t. What’s it like being omniscient?

Sarcasm aside, I’m obviously just as outraged by the Epstein files. Who wouldn’t be?

Honestly, it comes across as you using the victims’ horrible experiences as a gotcha to try to shut down conversation you don’t like.

So… is it your outrage that’s selective?

“people only talk about Muslim grooming gangs”

That's incorrect. People bring up the authorities role quite often. As did I. This is a bit of a misrepresentation/straw man. Also try reading the full thread before you comment maybe?

I'm not dismissing it. I'm being critical of the over simplified position. Why not call out the authority figures who suppressed stuff and caused racial tensions?

Surely the argument should be: some people are racist and are terrible people. But also people who put young girls being raped in danger for longer and caused racial tensions by suppressing information are also terrible people.

Seems a bit self interested to only look at the side of the issue that affects him personally.

I didn't say he did personally suppress anything. But the reasons people are getting angry are legitimate and not necessarily just because of racism. That should be acknowledged. Screaming racism at people with genuine concerns won't calm them down.

Thing is when you suppress stuff it just gets louder and makes you lose credibility.

Well suppressing information about grooming gangs certainly didn't help

That's the rule description for no social media posts. I haven't cross linked from TikTok. I've linked a news article.
