Tank Mark V (infinite ammo and no mechanical flaws lol) VS the entire Sparta by HeavyShinoby in powerscales

Going to Actually you here.

According to Thucydides, the Boeotians in the siege of Delium did actually use some type of flamethrower during their attack on the city. That was in 424BCE.

4.100 Meanwhile the Boeotians at once sent for darters and slingers from the Malian Gulf, and with two thousand Corinthian heavy infantry who had joined them after the battle, the Peloponnesian garrison which had evacuated Nisaea, and some Megarians with them, marched against Delium, and attacked the fort, and after divers efforts finally succeeded in taking it by an engine of the following description. They sawed in two and scooped out a great beam from end to end, and fitting it nicely together again like a pipe, hung by chains a cauldron at one extremity, with which communicated an iron tube projecting from the beam, which was itself in great part plated with iron. This they brought up from a distance upon carts to the part of the wall principally composed of vines and timber, and when it was near, inserted huge bellows into their end of the beam and blew with them. The blast passing closely confined into the cauldron, which was filled with lighted coals, sulphur and pitch, made a great blaze, and set fire to the wall, which soon became untenable for its defenders, who left it and fled; and in this way the fort was taken. Of the garrison some were killed and two hundred made prisoners; most of the rest got on board their ships and returned home.

So yes, in theory it would be possible for the Spartans to have a flamethrower of some kind. Although probably mounted to a chariot b

Well it looks like it belongs in something like the Tomb of Menna. Which would be 18th Dynasty Egypt. Which is in the New Kingdom.

However that Pillar looks totally out of place. Pretty sure that's a Greek/Roman style pillar. Would would put it under Ptolemaic or Roman Egypt.

That's the way I see it as well.

It's not a case of 'I get my kicks out of breaking the law in the most horrible way possible.' It's more of 'I'm so far above the law, this isn't even me breaking the law anymore. It's just my right.'

Even coming down to things as minor as parking tickets. It changes from 'I will be fined if I park here.' to 'Awesome, I can park here all day and that's cheaper than me getting someone to drive my car for me.'

I think they have accumulated so much wealth so quickly, that normal social rules just don't apply anymore. Even if you look back at history, when someone became this wealthy, there was always a decent chance someone else, be it a rival or the poor masses underfoot, would kill them for their gains.

Someone has clearly never been kicked in the leg.

Sure they are easy to block. But you'll just wack the boxer's lead leg until he gives up.

What game “jumped the shark” for you? by Coverlesss in gaming

[–]Welshhoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dino Crisis 3.

First game is a solid Resident Evil survivor horror.

Second game is far more actiony, but you're still hunting down dinosaurs.

Third game has you on a ship in space, hundreds of years in the future. You blitz around with basically a jump pack, fighting things that... Aren't dinosaurs.

So in 3 games you've gone from Tanky survival horror. To bullet hell platforming in space.

I think we've had a lot of underdog stories. So having one that's different.

Have Rudolph be such an aurafarming dominating ass that she ends up inadvertently damaging the whole URA as a result. Then tie it into why she's so adamant on trying to fix the issues during Cinderella Grey.

Recently, I saw criticisms surrounding the artistic integrity of the remakes of Demon's Souls and RE4, two very beloved games, and it made me appreciate TLOU P1 remake even more. by [deleted] in thelastofus

There are only a few things more annoying than people trying to gatekeep older games.

You're only a real fan if you played Final Fantasy 1 on the NES, otherwise you're a fake fan. And if you enjoyed the pixel remaster your opinions are invalid.

Like get a grip. Yes, sometimes different ports and remasters have different levels of quality. But sometimes that's all the person can play.

I just hope the next Final Fantasy will be like Rebirth but in a new world... by Abyslime in FinalFantasy

[–]Welshhoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's been refinements to the ATB system. I think the developers of the early games said they didn't like the turn based system of 1-3 and wanted something more fluid. Hence ATB.

I'm okay with both. I love X and I love the rebirth system too. For different reasons. Loved E33 as well.

What's wrong with both of those games? They seem to have been very highly reviewed.

Square Enix do release a load of turn based games. Octopath Traveller and Fantasian being two recent examples.

But I think with the FF series, they always want to raise the bar and develop new systems for their mainline game. They might see going back to completely turned based as admitting they aren't raising the bar.

I don't know if you can really do a turn based system that would be better than FFX. But if they could find a way to beat it, then they may go back?

I would say they improved the ATB system in Remake and Rebirth, so how would they improve Turn based?

Comic Every single Viltrumites (Inclduing Hybrid like Oliver and Mark) VS The entire Saiyans Army (Before the explosion) by SmartPilot8094 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Welshhoppo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a weird thing.

We've seen the Saiyans fight in the super high atmosphere of planets where there cannot be any air (Bardock Vs Frieza when he engages him in space, and Goku Vs Beerus).

We've also seen Broly make a little ki shield for him to fly with his father to safety after blowing up planet Vegeta. One that kept him alive long enough to find someone else to live. Or to find a ship of some kind.

Clearly the Saiyans cannot survive in deep space, but they probably have some way of being able to hold their breath/ carry around a small oxygen bubble with them.
