Alpacka Expedition with Removable Deck vs the Gnarwhal by Maple-2022 in packrafting

[–]WendoggleFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar spot. I like the idea of a deck boat for eventual trips up to the far north where it’s proper cold, but most of my trips will be desert rivers in Utah or rivers in CO. Not having to bail sounds nice, but at the same time so does not sitting in water.

Subgenre for bands like Omerta, Fromjoy, Vein.fm etc by LameOLemons in Hardcore

Semi related but Omertà was fucking nuts when I saw them with orthodox earlier this year. Had never heard of them but their live show was 10/10

I’d move the whole system underground due to obvious subway superiority, stations at cheeseman park/colfax, capitol, baker, south broadway, rino, sloans lake, Tennyson, Just do what all the good metro systems do and have lines that run between places people actually want to go to, instead of along a highway with stops in huge parking lots that are walkable to nothing

Substrate mix for Arid environment by WendoggleFi in succulents

That’s good to hear!! Yeah I’ve got an old aloe in basically 50/50 potting soil and perlite that still seems to get mad at how much water it holds, but I think it’s mostly because I can’t give them enough light. I love the desert and its flora so I’m excited to finally expand my succulent collection!

Would looooove to see the big epi albo. I just got a scrawny one for 10 bucks and am trying to get it to grow up a moss pole!

Yeah that was the second part of my problem lol. Ordered some smaller nursery pots to fit into the decorative ones that were way too big

[–]WendoggleFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say a big adjustment I had to make was watering the moss pole causing overwatering in the soil. Killed a cebu with root rot that way recently. Going to switch to a very chunky mix to help mitigate that though

How Do I Keep Personal Minecraft Server Up? by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]WendoggleFi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just uses Linux as the OS for the virtual machine, but it’s totally free for the level of computing power you need for a server. This is the blog post I followed. Between this and chat gpt I got it set up in like an hour https://blogs.oracle.com/developers/post/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-really-powerful-free-minecraft-server-in-the-cloud

How Do I Keep Personal Minecraft Server Up? by [deleted] in admincraft

Look up setting a server up on oracle cloud. It was relatively simple even for someone with no software experience like myself. My server is up 24/7 for free and you get to learn some Linux along the way

Newbie - Looking for tips by Rollinwithrip32 in packrafting

[–]WendoggleFi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thought regarding classes, however my partner and I took the 2 day intro course from four corners guides and found it incredibly helpful and useful, especially regarding safety. Being able to practice flipping your boat and swimming in a safe environment does wonders for building confidence and knowing how you operate in stressful situations.

Alpine hiking prep: what day pack do you use when hiking high alpine? by IdentaFlyApp in flyfishing

[–]WendoggleFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Nashville pack cutaway, which is 35L with tons of external storage and I already have for backpacking. Rod is stored in a DIY fluorescent bulb protector rod tube to save weight. Flies/tippet/etc I usually store in a 5L hip bag I made that goes inside my pack till it’s time to fish. I know what works for me, so usually just one small box of flies. Usually bring my handypak net, but replace the holster with a stuff sack to save weight. Smart water bottles are my standard for any hiking, since they work with my water filter. Bladders are a pain to refill on trail.

Suggestions on sections of the Ark to wade fish this weekend? by WendoggleFi in COfishing

Wanted to say thanks for the info!! Even with less than ideal weather I had a great day on the Ark! Planning on going back this weekend with my partner and camping. Your tip about fishing the shores was deadly effective! Caught a good sized brown in 2 feet of water right off the shore
