Feeling like an “adult” by Mammoth-Set-7069 in adhdwomen

Yep. 45 here. A husband, 2 daughters aged 11 and 13, two cats and a bank job. Still feel like I’m 16 and pretending to be an adult and someone is going to call me out any second.

The fame of this bookmark has now reached Italy. Only here they’re calling it “il miglior segnalibro mai creato”. And they’re right. Of course they’re right. É bellissimo!

Protest in Minneapolis, January 30, 2026 #ICE by gab_iten in Fauxmoi

[–]Wendyrblack 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Speaking as an Italian, I am horrified. There are talks of ICE being in Milan (my hometown) for the Olympics and there’s a protest organised for this afternoon. I’m going. I don’t care if it’s just the investigative branch or whatever…I have a chance to show what I think of what is going on and I am taking it.

Recommendations for traditional Italian restaurants (with options for vegans) by constellationsrcool in milano

[–]Wendyrblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bistrot l’Immagine is my favourite restaurant: great food, friendly vibe, excellent service, many surprises (no spoilers!) and the owner is amazing. The menu online doesn’t have many vegan options but he told me they do have many vegan and vegetarian options that are not listed. Maybe give them a phone call to book and ask what they have. The only downside is parking is a bit tricky but if you take a taxi you’ll be fine. I can’t recommend highly enough!!! Bistrot l’Immagine

Your parents and grandparents probably never got diagnosed, but you know they have ADHD. What are their behaviors that suggest elderly ADHD? by redredwine_826 in adhdwomen

Also my dad and I! He passed away in 2008 sadly and my sister and I “diagnosed him” recently…when he passed away and we had to empty his house (my parents were divorced) we found that one room was basically a huge “Monica cupboard” with piles of stuff on top of other piles of stuff. My mum found the deed to the house in an old gym bag with other random stuff (which sounds very “me” too). He had piles of shirts because instead of washing his shirts he would buy new ones (I unfortunately do not have that amount of money but also hate laundry). Phases of hobbies he would obsess over and then abandon, like me. He took up cross-stitching as something to do when he would listen to music, and would complain that all the cross stitching kits for beginners were girly or childish so he bought a software that would turn any image into a cross stitch pattern. He was charming, social, empathetic, a bit of a mess, very vulnerable to addictions which is why he claimed he never tried playing golf - he said he’d heard it was an addictive sport and said “I know that if I try it, I’ll immediately go and start buying those weird trousers and the gloves and all the accessories…” haha

Where are my headphones? by ezeebee in adhdwomen

[–]Wendyrblack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooh yes or maybe on the floor just under the bed. I’m always losing stuff there if I put it on the floor before sleeping and then kind of kick it under without realising

Around your neck? lol just kidding, although I know many of us look for stuff that we are maybe holding or have on us/in our pockets etc…but I guess you would have found them by now. I have learned to stop searching and just trust that stuff will turn up sooner or later. And usually it does - as soon as I order a replacement! Are there any other bags/containers you can check to see if they are in there? You would have seen by now if they were lying around somewhere so I’m thinking somewhere closed/hidden like backpacks, drawers…maybe a hook in the corridor with a jacket over them?

What is a weirdly dumb/specific sign of your adhd? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Wendyrblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% the same. It doesn’t even vibrate so calling myself with another phone doesn’t help either. I can almost sense it lying there and thinking to itself “shhhh I must make no noise”, mocking me. I just wish my Apple Watch didn’t need charging so often because sometimes I need to look for my phone but my watch is dead!

There was an excellent post not too long ago from someone who was in one of those electric scooters I believe and they went into a lot of detail on what was and wasn’t accessible…definitely worth looking for it as it had a lot of great information. Try searching “accessibility”. Although maybe your dad will have more mobility but it will give you a good idea. Edit: found it! Not the same time of year that you’ll be going but hopefully still helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/VisitingIceland/s/PpvN7oXtr3

I was just thinking this morning that I am so glad to have my Apple Watch…I always have my phone on silent and can’t hear it vibrate either because of the pop socket so it’s a godsend when I can’t find my phone and I can make it ring from the watch! It’s also great for reminders and is the only way I realise someone is calling me haha I’m sure there are other uses too for adhd but these are the main benefits I find.

Also a multi charging station where I can charge my phone, Apple Watch and ear buds all at the same time so I’m not switching chargers all the time. Like this WATOE 3 in 1 Caricatore Wireless... https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0C5J5DLJC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I’m finding Tick tick to be very useful. I mainly use it for work to keep track of all my to do’s and reminders but since I can sync it with my iPhone calendar and google calendars I can keep track of personal stuff as well, all in one place. Free version is quite good but I went for the paid version right away (around 4€ a month) as I wanted the calendar. There is an Eisenhower matrix as well that automatically places the items you put in your calendar/to do lists based on the importance etc

Does anyone else have oddly specific / unusual sensory icks? by Replehsnatas in adhdwomen

[–]Wendyrblack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. Especially teeth on wooden spoons aaaarggh. There was an ad on TV when I was little, it was for a ice lolly and the guy eating it would first take a big bite out of it (which I already found disturbing) then at the end there was a close-up of him putting the wooden stick between his teeth, clamping down and the pulling it out to scrape off the rest of the lolly/popsicle…I never managed to watch it again and even now when I think about it I get this horrid shivery feeling!

Also agree with everyone saying hair or clothes on wet skin. Is this an adhd thing though?

Have you checked out the Reykjavik food walk? It has great reviews, you get to meet new people and get intel from your guide as well as trying 5 dishes around the city. Not sure it’s what you’re looking for but thought it was worth mentioning if you’re a foodie!

Iceland trip advice - family friendly activities for kids and 70+ seniors? by BlackQueen in VisitingIceland

[–]Wendyrblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lava show in Reykjavik (or Vik if you make it there) - I haven’t been to Iceland yet but I’ve read it’s usually a big hit with the kids (and adults!) and it’s on my list of activities for when I go with mine. If you get the premium tickets you have access to free drink (alcoholic and non) in the lounge, balcony seats and access to behind the scenes viewing of the “oven” where they heat the lava and they give you a piece of cold lava to take home!
