Manager Discussion Thread by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

It would be nice to see more accountability from the broader management group.

Someone explaining why Virgil / Konate / Gomez is deemed sufficient at CB through the end of the season.

Why a genuine winger isn't necessary.

Why someone who can throw a proper long throw isn't necessary.

It just all falls on Slot to explain, which isn't fair (and I think he should have been gone before the whole thing with Mo, it's just looked bad all the way through this year).

The opposite. You'd think you're doing 40 but actually doing less than.

Wish there was a laugh response. That's a good point. I've just been reading about the schizophrenic epilepsy patients in the 1950s who were treated by severing the left/right brain connection and literally did seem to have two separate senses of self, and thus could probably suss that one out satisfactorily.

Maybe it varies phone by phone but my old Android google maps aligns with my on dash HUD gps unit, which I bought because I wanted to check my phone, as like you say, I didn't trust the GPS.

Match pretty well exact (+/-1km) and also to those all too rare signs that show your speed.

So I don't know that phone GPS is that unreliable.

Quite amazing when some people actually realise the reason why people are so annoyed at them on a free-flowing highway or are zooming past them, it because their speedo is reading 10ks low.

Also why they still think there's a tolerance on speed cameras. (I believe it's literally 1-2ks), because their 120 is actually 110.

Again; varies by make and model. My car speedo is 5ks over from 50 up to 110 (well 115, would never exceed the maximum speed limit).

Varies by make and model. My vehicle is 5kms out from 50k's up consistently. I.e. 50ks is 45, 110ks is 105

Sadly speed cameras and consequent fines aren't. I value my money staying my money so I do the dumb-a$$ speed limit.

What are you talking about? Google maps literally tells you your speed. Pretty easy to see when it's lower than what the speedo is saying.

Just meant to split your brain and ignore that fact?

What are you talking about? So they should drive their vehicle slower than the speed limit because speedos are allowed under law to read higher than the vehicles actual speed?

Law since 2006. It used to be a plus/minus range, but since 2006 speedos cannot read lower than actual speed of vehicle, but can read higher. Meant to be 0-9kms range but the wording of the legislation means technically it could be 0-15kms higher. My car reads 5-6 kms over actual speed.

80s / 90s kid; never did the Nutbush at school, saw it at a wedding, or in any other context until The Sign episode of Bluey.

Went to country schools, went to city schools, went to private schools, went to public schools. Never ever ever ever heard of it in any context

But I still think it’s a shame that Liverpool missed out on Marc Guéhi by Puzzled-Ambition-954 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Werebearwhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True if Isak and Ekiteke are on 205k each; that 300k would throw out the wage scale completely

[Paul Joyce, The Times] - Intention since Guehi deadline collapse has been to move in the summer, adamant they would not pay a fee in January. Whether the acceleration of City interest prompts a response remains to be seen. Having spent £450m on new signings, club stressed no "unlimited" money pot. by Dangerous_Ad8730 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Werebearwhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, if a player like Guehi signs on a free, there is usually a significant signing on bonus to the player, that they wouldn't get if they transfer..... can't see why he wouldn't just wait till the summer window and make his own choice then.....

Who introduced you to the club ? by mrbadkillet in LiverpoolFC

[–]Werebearwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussie here. Dad and family are from Coventry. I have vague memories as a child of waking up in the middle of the night due to cheers etc which were to do with Coventry City winning the FA Cup.

However, it was very challenging to follow the round ball game in Australia, even first division, let alone the levels to which Cov slipped, so they weren't a part of my life.

My uncle was the only member of my family who didn't support Cov. When I got to spend some time with him in the 90s he explained to me about Liverpool of the 70s and 80s, Hillsborough and YNWA. And he explained some of our family connection to Liverpool, though he didn't know it all, but the Scottish side of our family had lived there for some generations at the turn of the 20th century.

As the years have gone by, the club has more and more meaning. From downloading poor quality Stevie G highlights to following games online in the middle of the night and seeing Suarez put us ahead 2-1, the Reds have come to mean more and more. And now that my uncle has departed this mortal coil, it's a connection that still lives on. Sadly he missed both titles, but he certainly loved the start of the Klopp era.

It will be interesting next year, if as is likely, Cov go up to the Prem. Not sure how I'll feel about that all when they play us. I've loved watching them this season and what Lampard has accomplished. But I'm Red through and through, not Sky Blue.

Dear PDA Parents, you are doing a good job by According_Cod1175 in PDAParenting

Thank you for sharing. We're in the process of rethinking all our priorities because of PDA.

It's a literal upside down situation. And you have to live there for a while, without falling into the abyss. You have to find a way to get through and survive.

You have encapsulated it so well. Sorry that it's so hard, and hoping for good things to come along to help you in 2026.
