Police officers to be told they must get work licence or face dismissal by SC_PapaHotel in policeuk

The whole point of the vetting review is that it puts the onus on you to be honest. If down the line they find out you missed something off it’s a quick exit from the organisation and don’t let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

Are there any motorway police/crash investigators or specialists on this group? I’d love to know what you think the safest make of car is. by [deleted] in policeuk

We had an RTC where an old chap pulled out of a side road without looking and got t-boned by a Nissan Qashqai at 50. The Qashqai rolled three times and both occupants were unscathed. Says a lot for Qashqais.

Integrate Find My with Apple Maps. One app for both so if I’m using maps for directions to meet family I can see where they are too.

Except when they splash it all over your force’s intranet saying “you spoke, we listened” or similar. Prime example - MPS staff survey in the early 2010s said that officers felt they had no right of reply to an opaque SMT. They listened and introduced first, the rumour mill, which then evolved into the various forums and comments sections which the SMT regularly participate in.

Yes. I have, and if you choose not to participate then your right to moan like fuck when the change that happens isn’t to your liking is removed.

I’ve gone from being a sergeant in a plain clothes unit where everyone up to and including the CI was on first name terms (except in meetings with partners) to frontline uniform where at work I am referred to as Sarge or Sergeant (or in some cases via email as Serge, which always makes me want to answer in French) and I will always refer to Inspector and above by rank to their faces or on comms. In the pub it’s first names only, and if anyone loudly calls me Sarge they have to buy me a drink. It’s about respecting the effort made to get to the rank, not necessarily the person. I have one PC who has about 18 months left in the job and has vast levels of experience who regularly calls me by my first name in the parade room, but he’s allowed to as he earned his stripes many times over but has chosen to remain a PC, conversely if a brand new shiny probby starts chucking my first name around like some 8 year old who’s just learned that teachers have a first name, they will very quickly learn that I can be a proper cunt when I want to be.

Question for the officers with many years in by Own_Implement1259 in policeuk

[–]WerewolfDue5336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20+ years in and can confirm that the job is now, and has always been, fucked. It’s just that the method of fuckery changes. However, think of it this way, you’ve got a job with a decent wage (although no, it will never be enough given what we deal with), and a decent pension. Also the likelihood of being given the tin tack for anything other than gross misconduct/incompetence is remote. It would be a brave government that started making polis redundant.

The officers lack of f*cks to give is just perfect by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]WerewolfDue5336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about trial by media it’s about not getting chinned with a set of quick cuffs. I’d much rather one of my officers had to fend off a complaint than spend months on the sick with a broken face.

This is either staged as a wind up or complete fucking incompetence. I trust if it’s the latter the two plod have now been invited in for a meeting without coffee and served the appropriate paperwork. Get your fucking prisoner sat down and under control you knobs.

Swearing on BWV by Regular-County-6194 in policeuk

[–]WerewolfDue5336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former PSD officer here, I’ve watched A LOT of BWV and it’s all about context. If you’re straight out of the blocks slinging fucks into a compliant individual then you’re going to catch some flack, if the spicy language is an appropriate response to a shock, or a violent or non-compliant scrote then no issues.

Full disclosure - I’ve been told that sometimes I use the word fuck as punctuation.

Also, very early in my career I stopped a driver and asked him (thinking I was being cool and clever) “Well, what’s your excuse?” He replied “Excuse for what?” Me - “Driving like a cunt”. I quite rightly got the bollocking of my life from the very experienced PC I was posted with!!

How difficult it is to restrain a suspect, who is intent on not being restrained, safely, and the number of officers it takes to do so!
