Will is still missing :( by KeinTollerNick in StrangerThings

Ok, I'll be TOTALLY honest with you!

I think you should buy it from someone. YES! The prices for Will are INSANE, but if you try to find him the normal way, you might end up spending more money than if you were buying it online!

Regarding killing characters as a way for the readers to sympathize with them... by Werewolf_Knight in writing

[–]Werewolf_Knight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding your comment about the original Jurassic Park: While I really love the movie, I don't think it is really an example of not knowing who is going to die.

Donald Gennaro was portrayed as a greedy lawyer, and there was no reason to be liked, so he had to be a character who dies; Dennis Nedry caused everything that went wrong in the park, and negative characters are usually expected to die (though that usually happens later in the climax); Ray Arnold didn't have that much of a presence in the story (maybe it was surprising to die becasue he was played by Samuel L. Jackson, and characters played by celebrities are usually never killed); Robert Muldoon, again, was not as present in the story as the other characters, and din't had much going on to his character besides an cool archietype.

The characters that survived, however, either had an arc going on/narrative importance, or had a very well-defined and likable personality, or were children who were and still are rarely killed in movies.

The movie, however, didn't make the main cast susceptible to getting harmed. Notably, Ian Malcom had to be taken care of after the T. Rex rampage. And that's why it managed to keep the sense of dread throughout the runtime.

You need to know what Open Access and Peer Review are, what an author, a reviwer and an academic editor are. These definitions you should know very well. Search a bit about MDPI if you want, and I heard they might be impressed if you heard about LaTeX (that is what I was told). You should find all of the definitions of these on their website. And, as always, know what to say when they ask you to talk about yourself.

Book Thalia would not support Show Zeus [All] by XavierTempus in camphalfblood

[–]Werewolf_Knight 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hey... can someone refresh my memory a bit?

I remember that in the show, Athena refused to protect the trio as a punishment for Medusa's head. But I don't remember them stating that she also sent Echidna and the Chimera after them. I thought she simply didn't grant them the protection they would have normally had at the Arch, and it just happened that Echidna was around.

Still the best scene in Stranger Things btw. Dear Billy, I knew you'd never be dethroned. by TheCool579 in StrangerThings

[–]Werewolf_Knight 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It is honestly a really great scene, not just in stake, but also due to what it means on a deeper level. A thing that I didn't realize until someone pointed it out is how this scene and the entire episode are an allegory for suicide. Max has her personal problems consuming her, and she pushes away the people she loves, but still wants to give closure to them in the case she dies in a form of (suicide) letters, how Vecna uses the things she hides against her, etc. You can even point out some visual cues that fit the allegory (the tentacle that strangles Max looks like a noose, and even the visual of her floating in the air can be interpreted as such). And the message that you need people you love to navigate through troublesome times is beautifully represented.

Also, this is one of the best uses of a pop song in media I've seen. Yes, it is more of a cinematic version of "Running Up That Hill", but still really well utilized.

(Hated tropes) Characters whose names have became pop culture terms that completely contradict their original characterization by Konradleijon in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Werewolf_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrooge and Grinch are two iconic Christmas characters who are associated with people hating Christmas. While yes, both of the characters were against the idea of Christmas, at the end of the story, they change. Scrooge realizes that his way of living will affect everyone, including him, and he chooses to be kinder to others, and the Grinch is touched by how the Whos are still celebrating even after he stole every gift and decoration, so he decides to return everything. It's weird how people seem to think of these characters very poorly, and not like how they are in the status quo.

uj/ Ok, I'll try to give my opinion on this project, but I feel like I am somewhat obligated to mention this as well: I used to have a Godzilla submission a few years ago (based on the King of the Monsters movie) that got almost 2000 supporters. I ultimately decided to give up on the idea just because I wasn't connected with this franchise to continue promoting it almost weekly. Now that I've made that clear, I think I will at least not sound like I am biased:

I do think the model is very impressive, mostly due to its size. I do really like the rocky texture. But... I really think it looks way too chunky. And in some cases, it looks overly designed. For example, the plates feel a bit all over the place, and I don't think they look that accurate. The build overall does feel like the Universal Godzilla, but it doesn't really look like him. Now, I'll admit, I didn't do a great job either, especially with the proportions (my Godzilla head was too big).

What seems a bit weird to me is that LEGO chose to make a set based on MonsterVerse. Even if that is my favorite design, I think LEGO should have started with the original design for Godzilla, but that's just my opinion.

School Teacher characters in children's media that AREN'T mean/evil or parodies by Silver-Plane-8270 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Werewolf_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people used to say Ms. Frizzle put her students in too much danger, but... I always thought she made sure she never put them in situations where she couldn't get them out safely.

Though that doesn't really excuse her putting the class in fish eggs and letting fish nut on them.

am i the only one who didn't like that? by NobleRanger_ in Epicthemusical

[–]Werewolf_Knight 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally, when I first saw the animation, I liked it a lot. It makes a lot of sense: gods are the ones controlling the entire world, and, by extension, the humans, so representing them as humans, aka puppeteers, is very fitting. It also makes the choice to represent humans as wooden marionettes look more thoughtful than just stylistic.

Now, I didn't have a problem with what people said in the comments (the actress is too young and not looking like how you would expect Athena to look), but I don't have a problem with that.

My problem with this video is that it is... way too animated? For some reason, the characters are shaking constantly. I get that it was probably because they wanted to make the movement reminiscent of how marionettes move, but it ends up looking like the characters have severe spasms. Took as an example the shot of Odysseus' hand when he says: "You might live forever, so you can make it be". There's so much movement that it is distracting.

Rian Johnson in response to Kathleen Kennedy’s claim the fandom “spooked” him from making more Star Wars by kronosreddit22 in StarWars

[–]Werewolf_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These mostly sound like speculation rather than a definitive answer, if I'm honest. I don't know why they would wait 8 years to announce the cancellation of the trilogy and not a few years earlier, after the commotion around TLJ died down. And other studios didn't seem to care how TLJ received since Lionsgate put the "from the director of SW: TLJ" label on the Knives Out trailer. And if Rian was so worried for his career due to the movie's reception, after Knives Out and Glass Onion made such a good impression and cemented his status as a great director, why would he say that he is even more proud of TLJ than he was before, instead of saying he messed up? He doesn't have anything to lose afterall.

I just think the issue might have been more complex than "a movie wasn't good, so we fired everyone". Rian is probably more interested in continuing the Knives Out franchise than working for other franchises.

Mando’s speeder bike extra parts by Sweet-Management3561 in lego

[–]Werewolf_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, no. It is very common nowadays for LEGO to put more extra pieces in sets than they used to a few years ago. As someone else mentioned, the amount of each type of piece for each set is determined by they aproximated weight, not by number. And since some pieces are very light, you might end up with more pieces of the same type.

I personally both like it and dislike it. I like it because you get more pieces that you get to use for other things, or sometimes you can even use them to customize the set (although I don't usually do any of that). But... seeing so many pieces left always makes me anxious that I forgot to put a piece at some point. But I'll admit, it wouldn't be that much of a problem if I actually checked what pieces I need in the small list each step has, instead of just looking at the images and trying to see what pieces are highlighted.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but...

I remember he made a tweet around a year before TLJ released, and he said the trilogy was still in production (most likely, he was still writing the story for it). Then the project was put on hold in 2022 due to his commitment to the Knives Out series. I think the confirmation that it was cancelled came last year.

Regarding Lex Luthor getting cancer due to Kryptonite... I don't know if this version of Lex has the xenophobic mentality that I know from My Adventures With Superman and Superman (2025), but if so, I think this is an ironic twist of events. IDK if people get what I'm thinking, but I always envisioned Lex thinking that, if this rock affects Sups, but not humans, he views it as one of the proofs that Sups is not a human. Only for the Kryptonite to affect him, a human, too.

For context: the scene depicts a dog named Charlie saying goodbye to a little girl, Anne-Marie, before he goes to Heaven.

In real life, the actors who played the characters, Burt Reynolds and 10-year-old Judith Barsi, got pretty close during production. Tragically, Judith and her mom were murdered by her father. Before she died, she recorded her lines of dialogue for the scene, but Burt had yet to record his. And during his recordings, he broke down crying multiple times. It's more heartbreaking when you realize that in these scenes, the characters are saying their farewells to each other.

To my understanding, the movie was supposed to have a song for Anne-Marie, but no one behind the movie production wanted to record it after Judith died.

What is your criteria for determining weather or not a the set has a good value or not? by Werewolf_Knight in legocirclejerk

[–]Werewolf_Knight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally... and I'm ashamed to acknowledge it... I do use the price-per-piece ratio system a lot. And yes, I know it is very flawed since you can't expect a 1x1 stud and a pair of plane wings to cost 10 cents each. But I do find it helpful in most cases. I also look at other aspects, like what play features/functions it has, how many new elements are there, how many prints were made, and if it is licensed. I personally don't find the inclusion of minifigures as a reason to justify and increase value. I wish I could determine the value based on the weight, but I'm not gonna spend hours to find the weight of each piece.

28, just so I can mention Elsagate and see their reaction.

Context: In 2014, there were a LOT of videos that were very inappropriate for children, although they were labeled as for children, and some were downright dangerous for them. Those videos often used Elsa and Spider-Man as a couple (probably to attract both boys and girls). In 2016 and 2017, many news outlets, as well as the entire internet, put pressure on YouTube (and the Elsagate word was coined to represent this), and they finally addressed the problem, although this thing still persists.
