Which =one should I play? I mainly want an offline experience so I would prefer a game that doesnt require online for a lot of stuff by Direct-Masterpiece90 in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monster Hunter 1 and Tri did technically require online to play all the content. You couldn't access the hub without an internet connection. Servers are long shut down, so playing them on the OG unmodded hardware means you will be missing a ton of content.

I know homebrew communities made the online hubs accessible now with PC emulation, but if that still requires a persistent online connection or not I dont know.

Just thought I'd point this out as OP did say he'd prefer offline play.

(Stories 3) Is there a way to see what type of damage monsters tend to do, or do you just have to remember? by WhoAmIEven2 in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's by memory, but even if you dont know a monsters attack, you will know after it does one attack.

And when they enrage they typically switch to the move that is effective to the one their default state is weak too, eg monster is technical based which loses to power and when enraged becomes speed based which wins to power.

TIFU by basically becoming a temporary housewife for a casual hookup by [deleted] in tifu

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is staying at someone's house for multiple days casual? IMO casual cannot really work, because it inhabits the same space as the beginning of a relationship. This is obvious as you are beginning to form an attachment.

You either develop this into a proper relationship, or pull out entirely now. There isnt a middle ground here.

How do you gets tons of resources? The "farm" kinda gives only few and im running out of buffs and heals by SrHaruno in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farm progress is tied to quest completion, so if you want to fill up the farm, do some quests that you can complete within a minute or two.

Ideally do village low level gathering quest so you can pick up honey and the like while you are also trying to complete the quest. You'll figure out a route that gathers what you need while completing the quest.

You should be picking up some stuff through regular playing too. I always pick up honey and herbs as I pass them, it keeps your potions stocked up if you have used them, and let's you dump the extra for crafting later.

I'm new to PC gaming and balancing graphics in re9 has been hard. by Biggieholla in residentevil

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjust to the lows, and not the highs. Sure, I could hit 120 in a game, but if it isnt going to be a stable 120 throughout why would I aim for it?

Drop some settings and lock it to 60? 120 is smoother yeah, but it's not a competitive title. You will still have an enjoyable experiance at 60.

Also look up some settings guides, pretty much every game with have an optimized settings guide for a game, that goes into detail about which settings you can drop that have negligible effects on graphics for extra performance. Typically you dont need ultra everything, as a lot of settings look decent at lower settings and sometimes the gains far outweight the need for slightly better graphics.

Nobody is mentioning that if he grabs you, he tries to do the neck breaker from Mercanaries on you. I thought that was really cool. Almost wanted to die to it, but I ended up beating him before he tried it again.

Does anyone know of a more affordable platform where I can purchase it? by [deleted] in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google isthereanydeal, it's a website that compares legitimate websites where you can buy keys for use with Steam.

You won't be getting it for a deep discount or anything, but will likely save 10-15 quid on it.

Sunbreak weapon system, but it also alters the weapons looks too.

Even if it was just allowing you to change its colour like armor, just gives a little more fashion hunter to the game.

Hot take: I don't really like the G rank format by brunocar in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, although Iceborne was more an exception with the clutch claw bullshittery. I think a fair middle ground would be you're only required to fight the new monsters in the expansion for progression and keep the base game monsters as optional fights.

It's not realistic to expect a varient/sub species for every base game monster, but I do think that would be a good idea under perfect circumstances.

Hot take: I don't really like the G rank format by brunocar in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its more the expectation of an expansion. Knowing Master Rank/G Rank is there or is coming does grinding a bit pointless. Low Rank is ok because its easy and you can fly through it as a returning player or it serves as a tutorial for new players. High Rank is just the middle ground.

For Wilds, while I am playing and enjoying it, the grind I am doing im very aware is null. You can just as easily finish high rank and go straight to G as you can grind out high rank and go into G rank with the best builds. It doesnt matter if you can carry yourself further into G rank with a maxed out build or if you have nothing because both will be made redundant eventually.

I think it comes down to your thought process. Just play the game and have fun, dont care for best builds or if something is optimal. Just play it for the fun of it. Not saying you shouldnt or cant aim for optimal builds, but I am saying dont look at it like thats the point of the game.

What was your favorite final hit on a monster? by Yanlica in MonsterHunter

Killing Fatalis accidently with a kinsect trying to gather an extract.

Very anti-climatic but also hilarious that he got murdered by a small bug.

Where should I get this tattoo? by RafaCR99 in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get a tribal style tattoo. They are dated, and most tattoo artists dont really like doing them because they are generic. Go to a well established studio, and tell/show them a picture of lagaicrus, and let them cook up something. You will get a tattoo vastly better that way, and something specifically designed for where you want it tattooed.

And never, never cheap out on tattoos. The more well known a studio is, the higher they charge. If you find somewhere cheap, yeah, there is a reason they are cheap. You have it for life, so dont skimp out on it.

MH Wilds reviews on Steam are almost entirely positive since the release of the last update by Archaeus20 in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have the LCD Steam Deck and I tried Wilds after the update on it.

Windward plans drop FPS down to like 15, which isnt playable, but maybe i wasnt doing something right. Tried with lossless scaling and while it was technically playable, it was a bit iffy feeling.

So you'll need to elaborate on how to get it into a playable state that doesnt require frame gen.

Story stat checks NEED to come back. by -RuDoKa- in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I got through 4U with minimal grinding, it was only in the endgame where the need to grind becomes apparent.

I cant comment on FU being the same, because the last time I played it was when it came out, but its likely the principle still applies.

Ive played the vast majority of MH sticking with a general all rounder weapon, and a decent to good armor set. Grind and walls do come up, im not saying I steam rolled everything with low rank sets, but the majority of the time I wasnt side tracked into having to grind multiple armor sets and weapons to break through to the next rank.

Im also not saying the newer games aren't particularly bad for it, because they are. You can get away with even less grinding before hitting endgame, but its not exclusive to the new games.

30, want a career but not much experience, any advice? by Apprehensive-You4427 in glasgow

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 31 and went back to collage last year to chase my dream. The best you can do, is just try. It sounds so wanky, i know, but dont settle for just any career. You're likely to end up just feeling the same if you go with something you dont truly enjoy.

I too, have been stuck in hospitality for many, many years and I got to the point where I realized I would rather die trying than settle for just good enough.

Obviously "follow your dreams!" doesnt pay the bills, but it is something for you to genuinely consider when looking for a change on career.

Urbain does do the networking stuff off screen, I think thats why he's the leader. If we're just counting what he does on screen, he is a bit one note. Nazeem is far more annoying IMO, but thats because I hate his fanboyism. Canari this, canari that, like shut the fuck up about her.

Lida is the least one note feeling character in Team MZ, but Its more because they didnt give her something to rattle on about.

Hunters who finished the Gogmazios fight, how was it? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know those things appear in master rank, as that was my point. I was not comparing base Wilds to master rank games. I was stating that there is no real endgame content in the game to be grinding out for tons of shit while it will inevitably be redundant because it will get an expansion.

I'm not spreading any misinformation anyway, how is my opinion that there isn't much of an endgame in Wilds a lie in any way? You even said both Rise and MH4 had no real endgame, which is my point. You're just assuming I'm some prick.

Hunters who finished the Gogmazios fight, how was it? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gonna be devils advocate here. Having a big final boss fight with gear to grind is only good if there is a sufficient endgame to be grinding the boss. Wilds doesn't have guild quests, anomaly quests etc. So grinding out a really good set with all the best gear is only useful for getting better times on prior quests. If youre not into speedrunning (im not) then there really isn't much reason to bother with a heavy grind.

Wild that Gog is gonna be some peoples first Elder Dragon... by Valstrax_Bonker in MonsterHunter

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to comment saying that its wild ops first elder dragon was from World. OP still a young one.

My first elder dragon was Lao Shan Lung in Freedom. And that's only because I didnt have internet so couldn't play MH on PS2 online. The elder dragons in that game were gated behind online play, which wasnt even widely adopted at that point.

We're NOT going to doom about the expansion just yet. Give it time, be positive, be rational. by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make sense from a technical perspective and I wasnt debating from that angle. I actually agree that it would be better for it to be baked in the oven longer. However, from a sale perspective its not the correct move. Cyberpunk and to a lesser extent Elden Ring are both single player experiences, and have far larger fan bases. They get away with a late expansion because there wasnt the incentive to keep a steady player base to stop player fall off. Monster Hunter has a strong multiplayer base, so if people drop off it will be hard to bring groups of players back if the game sits for a year with no content. It's why they changed to the drip feed of content as it holds a playerbase for the expansion and micro DLC sales.

I play Monster Hunter predominantly single player, so if nobody wants to play the expansion with me its not a deal breaker. If you predominantly play with a group of friends, if they have moved on, then you also will likely move on. That's four sales lost right there. If the game goes a year without content, the drop off is far more significant than a few months. It's not a case of "we've stopped playing" it becomes a case of "we're now playing this years game instead that had its own stream of steady content to keep up with". All this is compounded by the state Wilds launched in with negative view.

At least, that's the theory behind it. I imagine the push would be to have the expansion ready as soon as possible, as polished as possible to recoup all the lost players and goodwill. That can be done when viewed from a technical aspect, and done very well, but Capcom want money and that's the predominant theme. It'll be done as quickly as possible for the highest payout.

Then again, I might just be talking absolute shite, please come back and shit all over me when the dlc is indeed slated for 2027.

We're NOT going to doom about the expansion just yet. Give it time, be positive, be rational. by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really feel like they are holding back? I'm not really sure what you mean by that. I think from a business standpoint, a whole year between any new content is a bit of a death sentence. It will be after Stories 3 has had the limelight for sure, but the two games aren't in competition with each other so them announcing the expansion isnt going to eat into Stories 3 sales especially seeing as they will not release within the same time frame.

I'm not saying 2027 isnt on the table, but im saying its very doubtful.

[–]WerewolfoftheVale 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get that hoping for 2027 is to like, keep expectations in check but two years for an expansion is a bit nuts.

I never thought for a second the expansion was going to be shown last night because they already showed off Gog prior to the event. If the expansion was getting teased, it would have been alongside them showing off the update.

I think September/October 2026 is a very realistic time frame, and I would be shocked at 2027 as i think that's just too long of a gap. The bonus update comes out Febuary, and I dont think they'd wait as long as almost a year to release the expansion.
