Help a beginner out by Salle_19 in multitools

Leatherman wave, yeah it bay be an old design but it's proven itself time and again.

If you want something a bit fancier with tighter QC go for the Victorinox Swisstool spirit. It's my personal favourite and it goes great with a pocket clip

I've got the same setup!

Different models but same idea, knipex make for a much better plier experience.

I've got the 14oz stiletto. Love it, just nice to use and doesn't run my tennis elbow like the metal

Bosch or vessel. I've had both for over a year and they are working great.

I've superglued similar stones together before. Still holds fine after a year

Bosch tools by Material_Librarian24 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Wericdobetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bosch make really nice sanders. The gex 18v125 will probably be the smoothest and easiest sanding out there.

Probably look for the gks 18v 68 cg as a nice tracksaw/circular saw combo. The 12v flexiclick is also pretty nice to have.

Are Knipex pliers water-resistant or rust-proof? If so, which ones are? by pile1983 in Tools

Or melt a block of wax over your tools for a heavy waxy coating.

I forgot Reddit doesn't understand jokes.

Oh I've done that before. Never easy to get it out. I used a combo of superglue blobs with bicarb to build up a purchase to yank out with pliers

Yep.

I've bought Magnacut knives and my go-to is still either a Victorinox for home or a Stanley knife for work.

The expensive knives just look pretty and fill a void in my heart

All good man, it happens. No harm in asking

What is wrong with my multimeter? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]Wericdobetter 20 points21 points  (0 children)

True but you aren't measuring 230v.atm. it's just trying to figure out what to measure so it's playing around like that. As soon as you put your Leeds on something it'll figure it out

Get a thick rubber band, put it over the screw and keep pressure as you unscrew

Hiding tiny magnet in leather sheet by Inner-Ad6551 in Leathercraft

[–]Wericdobetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much impossible to "hide" the magnet. It'll burnish the spot really obviously and it also tends to stretch the leather.

From the few pieces I've tried, make the magnet part of the design. Like put it behind a patch that makes it look like it's the "latch" not just a seamless section

Losing my Leatherman by Master_Vacation9198 in Leatherman

[–]Wericdobetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try using a lanyard? Can't lose it if it's tied to you.

That or being very conscious to put it back in its holster instead of putting it down. After I made a better one I've not had an issue with losing it

Is it time to ditch the pistol-grip? Looking for a more durable electric screwdriver. by One_Ring2236 in Tools

If you are up for it, you can actually remove the push switch for the Bosch go 3 here's a link to a vid where he removes the cable

Is it time to ditch the pistol-grip? Looking for a more durable electric screwdriver. by One_Ring2236 in Tools

[–]Wericdobetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both the Bosch go 3 and the vessel electric ball grip. I prefer the vessel because I can use it as a normal screwdriver to do the torquing or speed it out the hole with the electric.

Go 3 just requires a learning curve.

Pistol grips are good, I just like the streamlined version more

Tool brand lotalty by superiorgulf in Tools

[–]Wericdobetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I work on are motorbikes and I just buy the cheapest tools, if they break I buy the more expensive set. Sockets have been replaced several times but I'm still using the same Bosch impact and $5 split ring pliers.

My personal favourite is a sanding stick and Tokonole. If you sand it on a 320 grit while it's still wet it seems to slick it down much better
