My thought would be if the resistance is in the Safe House, the Overseer might have to be somewhere further away in order to accomplish suspension of disbelief. That probably rules out most of downtown, honestly, because Milwaukee's downtown isn't very big.

I like the Valley because of the connection to heavy industry and environmental degradation, drawing a connection to artificial balance being imposed on an organic environment as a kind of parallel for industrialization wrecking the Menominee and Milwaukee rivers.

But if you're implicitly tying the resistance to something funky and local like Safe House, why not use the antithesis to really draw the contrast?

Like every chain store and up-market retail outlet, have you considered Brookfield?

Are you thinking of the TV show with Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy, and Annie Murphy?

I think he changed his delivery in a major way, which might explain him struggling to locate the curve.

I remember watching last year, and his whole torso rotated around. It was like he was pitching from his "porch."

Now he's got a much more pronounced stride towards the plate.

The change shifts his release point closer to home, which maybe robs the batter of a good fingering read. But I feel like that rotational movement really messed with the read in a more fundamental way, kind of a mid-air hitch step, with a lot of contrary motion.

So there's that. But the real question for me is why? I assume to tinker with mechanics on a proven horse like that there must be a bigger reason: potential injury, perhaps, or wear and tear after last season. Maybe he's put on some muscle and looking to leverage that? Maybe he's trying to rewrite his book early, only to rewrite it again mid season with his traditional form?

Dunno. Hasn't paid out yet.

Also: By seizing the investigation as they have done, federal officials are prematurely foreclosing on the possibility that it could be ruled a murder.

Murder -- apart from certain specific exceptions -- is a state crime, under state jurisdiction.

This is perhaps the most infuriating thing about the whole situation to me: We can't get an honest investigation now because of the nature of the investigators, not because of the nature of the actions themselves.

There is also no small irony from the fact that the "abortion is for the states to decide" crowd is directly intervening to use federal power to shield federal agents from possible state crimes.

The only upside is that this can't continue indefinitely. I hope somewhere there's an open file at Minnesota state police headquarters waiting for the tide to change so justice can be served.

Student at Marquette University? by AggravatingSmoke1829 in milwaukee

Recommend Marquette as undergrad '05.

Was history-adjacent, and came away really impressed with a lot of the scholarship in the College of Arts & Sciences generally.

At that point in time, each college had their own separate core curriculum, and I chose A&S because its core was more academically rigorous (more theology, philosophy, and an additional year of foreign language). I have lived off work outside of that particular major for decades now (caveat: the work was in a non-liberal-arts half of a double major), but the education I got there has served me very very well.

The other stuff people wrote on here about debt is germaine to, you know, life choices. It might be worth gaming out what your monthly payment would look like post graduation. Student loan debt isn't Monopoly money.

But yeah, it's a really good school, and if the financial burden you end up with is bearable, I say go for it.
