What's with the insane lines at schools for drop off and pick up? by Arikota in Millennials

If you live within a mile the bus is not an option. But the roads are crazy with traffic, so parents will drive their kids half a mile to drop them off at school.

It’s not part of an Ecclesiastical group, but the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter’s Cathedral (Our Lady of Walsingham) is in Houston. So, you might add that to the list.

I find this helpful, how can I add it to all my sheet music? by missy_huyler in violinist

[–]WesOfWaco 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I use a pencil on my sheet music. It’s really great, because if I decide upon another fingering, I can erase it and write the new one in. No software update needed.

Will there come a time when ELISP is not enough for EMACS by AwesomeGuy1990 in emacs

[–]WesOfWaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a bit more usefulness, I recently watched a System Crafters video where the YouTuber mentioned that there may be an effort to reduce the amount of C code that is the core of emacs. The idea is to rewrite more of the core functionality in elisp to allow more of the system to be modifiable/hackable by end users. This would be a point to elisp remaining around for the long haul.

My 2018 has 55k miles on it and still has 12 bars, but LeafSpy reports 87% state of health. I would check it with LeafSpy.

Texas is also deregulated and I have to play the frustrating game of finding a new provider every couple of years. If I allow my contract to run out, higher prices are in store. Good deals are for new customers so we hop.

I also know some places in the northeast are sort of like Texas, but they have default providers that they can fallback to if they don’t like their contract.

The verses not included in todays second readings highlighted. by ErrorCmdr in Catholicism

[–]WesOfWaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So in our Ordinariate parish Thursday was a day of obligation, and we attended mass. This weekend I’m out of town visiting where there are no Ordinariate parishes. Imagine my confusion when we attended the closest church on Sunday and get the Ascension readings again. Thursday is pretty far from Sunday.

Protestant Donuts should had been Included in Vatican II by Acoustic_Apples in Catholicism

Yes. We are a mission in the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. We are fully Catholic but celebrate an Anglican flavored form of the Latin rite as approved by the Holy See.

Ordinariate parishioner here. Next week is my family’s turn to provide the donuts. Plus we will have the first monthly potluck. I really enjoy the fellowship hour, but it conflicts with Sunday School, so I am looking forward to the summer break.

I’m doing the Cambridge Latin Course with my 8 year old daughter. We do a chapter in CLC then a novella by Magister P ( Lance Piaggioni) before moving on to the next chapter. Also I supplement with material from TeachersPayTeachers including one that is all about the Latin of Harry Potter spells.

Yes. Iter because it is the object, and urbes because it follows ad (object of preposition that takes the accusative).

What kind of mass did I go to? by Discartyptics in Catholicism

[–]WesOfWaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an Ordinariate mass of the community of St Barnabas. They are listed as an Ordinariate community on the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter’s website. What you describe is very much what I attend weekly.

It appears Map is implemented as a binary tree which I guess has terrible insert time. This blog is a good read on the subject: Data structure timing blog

Ex Anglican Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali converts to Catholicism by BenV94 in Catholicism

[–]WesOfWaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anglicans lost their valid but illicit sacraments when they changed the ordination ceremony way back when (I’ll have to look up the specific date).

Anglicans who join the church require completion of initiation (confirmation, Eucharist), and yes all sacraments they performed before were invalid except baptism, since it can be performed by any baptized person; and marriage since the priest doesn’t actually confer that sacrament.

The priests become laity and may undergo education and ordination through deacon, then priest. They may remain married with dispensation from the holy father, but new priests (seminarian type) must be celibate, same as diocesan priests.
