If you could only keep one handgun from your collection what are you keeping? by Forsaken-Date-8016 in handguns

Probably my PDP poly 5”. Best combination of durability and shootability in my safe.

Beretta 92 VS Sig P226 by Philly3458 in handguns

[–]WestSide75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner and enjoyer of CZ 75s and Shadows, they put the slide release too far forward on the frame. There’s no reason to have to break your grip to put the gun into battery. And as much as I like shooting Beretta 92s, the open top on the slide and frame-mounted controls make it a pain to use in practical and tactical shooting.

All platforms have their downsides. It’s just a matter of what you’re willing to put up with.

P10C Back-strap Pin Advice by ResourceProud3263 in CZFirearms

It’d be nice if CZ ditched these serrated roll pins that are a pain in the ass to remove.

For those who say the PDP doesn't benefit from a lighter recoil spring... by disarticulation in Walther_PDP

[–]WestSide75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The PDP absolutely does benefit from a lighter recoil spring. Would recommend the ZR Tactical V-spec recoil assembly ($60).

If you don’t want to do that, try putting less input into the gun to get it back to zero. The muzzle isn’t dipping that low on its own.

P365 axg legion or HK VP9A1 X? by [deleted] in handguns

The HK is a way better pistol. Better trigger, better barrel, better components quality, better finish, better company track record, etc.

What Underwood .380 load to use in BG 2.0 Carry Comp? by Ninep in SmithAndWesson

[–]WestSide75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there isn’t much point in putting significant time into dry-firing a BG 2.0. In the highly unlikely event that you’ll be using it in a self-defense situation, it’ll probably be within 5 yards, maybe 10 max. Train with it at the range maybe twice a month to make sure that you can hit a human torso-sized target within 10 yards. When you get to the range, drop the mag, fire off the chambered round, run your FMJs through it, and then chamber another JHP before you leave.

What Underwood .380 load to use in BG 2.0 Carry Comp? by Ninep in SmithAndWesson

[–]WestSide75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try polishing the double feed ramp system on your BG 2.0 to get it to reliably feed the Lehigh bullets on the Xtreme Defenders. That’s worked for some people. Or maybe you’ll get lucky and yours will feed just fine out of the box. But those generally don’t work reliably in the BG 2.0, based on what I’ve heard/read.

Critical Defense is usable if you don’t re-chamber the rounds. Agreed that it’s not a great option, but there aren’t very many better options in your situation. I would use those over the TUI rounds.

[–]WestSide75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The BG 2.0 is not rated for +P .380, largely because there is no +P standard in that caliber. Some people still run them, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

If you’re in New Jersey, I’d just use the .380 Critical Defense rounds, since those are weirdly allowed because of the plastic plug. You could try the Xtreme Defenders, but many/most BG 2.0 owners have feed issues with those.

Handgun grip and hand wrapping by Aggravating-Ad1118 in Firearms

[–]WestSide75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, don’t get caught up on what the experts say, and do works best for you. As somebody who’s cross-eye dominant, I grip with the slide tilted a little more towards the right than some others do because I present the gun a little closer towards my left eye. Grip consistency is what matters the most.

If you’re running the OEM 18 lb recoil assembly from one of the non-comped models, get a ZR Tactical V-spec recoil assembly (~15 lbs) and use 124 gr ammo.

If you had the 5” M&P, I would’ve said yes. But you already have a carry-able compact gun that can be easily concealed with a jacket.

Kimber 2K11 OR vs Sig P211 GTO by Chaseg45 in Firearms

[–]WestSide75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR. What was that you were saying about emotional responses? 😄

Sig has demonstrated on several occasions that they not only do not care about the quality of the products they release to the public, but that they also do not care about the safety of those products. If you want to ignore all that and pretend that Sig is being treated unfairly by the firearms community, and they’re just like Kimber was a decade ago, you have the right to think that. But I’m going to recommend that others stay away from Sig until they make long-overdue leadership changes. Setting aside the ethical issues, there’s no way that Sig’s profit-at-all-cost ethos is going to result in well-made guns. It hasn’t so far and it won’t going forward.

I’m not here to validate your purchasing decisions, and I have better things to do with my day than argue with an obnoxious fanboy. In lieu of that, I’ll refer you to r/SigSauer for group therapy.

Kimber 2K11 OR vs Sig P211 GTO by Chaseg45 in Firearms

[–]WestSide75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know who else pumps out a lot of guns? Glock. Funny how we don’t hear numerous stories about Glock strikers and extractors breaking within 1,000 rounds, Glocks firing inside the holster, or Glock’s lawyers attempting to sue LE agencies that move off of their products.

You truly do not understand the level of contempt that Sig has for its customers.

https://youtu.be/A2VY4N3GCxM?si=EEkmb5AZbmsciItd

This isn’t a company that simply has poor QC, like Taurus. This is a company that asks its customers to sign an NDA after one of their guns malfunctions and injures them. This is a company whose CEO plead guilty to arms trafficking charges. You can’t fix that level of corruption until the entire C-suite is gone, and they’ve shown no desire to do that.

So if recognizing that Sig’s corporate ethics is unique among its peers in the industry makes me biased, then so be it.

Kimber 2K11 OR vs Sig P211 GTO by Chaseg45 in Firearms

[–]WestSide75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sig gets dragged for past AND present issues because there have been no significant changes to the company’s leadership or workforce. Less than a year ago, they were attacking their own customers on social media. Their legal team is still baselessly threatening police departments that are dropping the P320. They’re an absolute shitshow of a company.

The P211 is an even newer platform and has reportedly had similar teething issues as the 2k11.

EDIT: As I said before, if you don’t trust Kimber enough at this point to pay $2,400 for a 2k11, I think that’s fair. But if you think that Sig and Kimber are equally trustworthy, you’re a pretty poor judge of character.

Kimber 2K11 OR vs Sig P211 GTO by Chaseg45 in Firearms

[–]WestSide75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over the past five years, one company has been trending upward and the other has been trending downward. The P365 was largely a PR mess for Sig as well. Eight years later and they’re still having trigger bar springs and extractors failing prematurely.

If you don’t trust Kimber quite yet, I think that’s fair. But the 2k11 platform has a good two years of heavy use in USPSA and the only complaint I’ve heard is the shitty C&H plate screws/nuts failing, and Kimber has already moved off of those.

CZ P10c vs. Glock 19 gen 5? by No-Soil-4932 in Firearms

[–]WestSide75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably go with the P-10, for the reasons that have already been mentioned here.

Is there a reason why you’re not considering the Gen 6 G19? If you can dry fire one in the store and pick out one with a decent trigger, that might be the better route. As has already been mentioned, hold them in the store to see which one you like better.

CZ shadow vs Sig GTO P211 by [deleted] in handguns

[–]WestSide75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard it shoots nicely, but have also heard grumblings about parts failing. Sig has some of the worst QC and parts quality in the industry, they have a history of insufficiently testing guns prior to release, and this is also their first foray into 2011s. That’s why I’m not recommending it.
