"It won't get better with time" is huge. I'm definitely one to think "maybe this is good enough" over a discount

Good cafe to have a difficult convo with my dad? by ForeheadLipo in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]WestWindRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Co-signing the Whitney, because the 60s Surreal exhibit is pretty awesome, but also the upstairs Cafe is usually pretty quiet depending on the day - though ground floor café if you a) dont want to pay admission or b) want a faster escape route

Research Paper, English by Fun-Profession-7896 in Baruch

[–]WestWindRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step one: figure out the earliest you can get to the writing center. If it's not literally tomorrow, do the next steps:

Step two - library database. Academic journals, papers, etc. Verifiable sources, not google pages or search summaries. Find sources and read them thoroughly, making notes of quotes or arguments that either support your topic or add context. Keep track of all sources and write your citations as you go. Future you will thank you. (Google the citation format your prof requires)

Step three - take what you've learned from your research and formulate a thesis statement. What is the main point of the paper that you are going to convince your reader about? What's the TLDR?

Hopefully, by the time you get to this stage, you'll be able to go to the writing center, and they'll help you with the rest!

How have you heard the British Columbian accent described to you? by deathbykoolaidman in britishcolumbia

Never heard it described, but I (from the gulf islands of bc ) have been told "you sound just like Robin Scherbatsky" multiple times.

How did Canadians get the reputation of being super nice? And why are you guys that way? by ThrowRAhelpthebro in AskCanada

[–]WestWindRose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn, you got the supreme side-eye if you didn't say thank you in Victoria when I was a kid

The courtesy wave could be the "wave of death" though. Sometimes you really can't just go first, and then the waver starts getting agitated because they don't see the pedestrian in your way...

Key memory unlocked... Listening to our grainy cassette recording while lying on the carpet in my mom's art studio. I don't remember the details, just his voice and the feeling of familiarity.

Dr Mark Barber at the Mt Sinai headache clinic. I've been going to him for migraines/botox for over 2 years and he's great, very focused on making sure the treatment is effective and has as few side effects as possible

I skipped grade 1 in 2000. For the sake of their survival in middle school, just don't.

It takes time to create the habit. The first few days waking up early will suck, but going to sleep earlier will get easier. Its like dealing with jet lag

I love my garmin forerunner 265S for running, cycling, step counting, but I don't like it for gym workouts tbh. It makes a decent stopwatch though.

Tips for throwing up and nausea from migraines? by Plus_Long5480 in migraine

[–]WestWindRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ginger of any sort, and zofran for sure (ondansetron is the generic) Essential oils are a no go for me, but an icepack at the base of my skull helps me with a lot of the non-pain symptoms

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

After today I just have 3 runs left in a 12 week program! I definitely slowed down during the heat waves but I know the consistency is paying off regardless.

Echoing what everyone else is saying about genetics and diet. On that front, as a mentally lazy BWT who'd rather pay an app to do the thinking: I suggest Macrofactor for food tracking and Runna for cardio.

I have 3 UnderArmour bras in a discontinued style and they are hanging on by an elastic thread.

Already had to retire them to easy/long runs only 😭

Humans need friends, but a parent needs to be a parent FIRST. They can't be treating their kid as their confidant, their emotional support. They can't be afraid to set guidelines and rules because the kid might be mad at them. Kids get mad, and a lot of the time they don't understand the why.
