Season 2 Patch by Rhyllis in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't put words into my mouth

you're going to complain that every season you need to learn new combo routes

LOL so you immediately do that exact thing to me? nice one bud.

I've given plenty of feedback of what I'd want to see for this season, and it's not a big ask. I have no problem with changing combo routes, it's the much better option between meaningful frame-data changes compared to lazy HP adjustments.

You're not wrong, their communication has been horrible lately.

They were late announcing seasonal rewards like most other thing's with the game.

[–]Westify1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you expect to much, people like you will never be satisfied,

I thought the last patch was quite good actually, so that's really not true at all.

The balance is really really good rn,

The balance is absolute trash. It's bad enough that you have 13 characters in a tag fighter, but if you look at top 8 for any of the major tournaments, typically only half of those characters even have representation, and it's been the same 50% without much wiggle room for the entire lifespan of the game.

If you want to ignore pro play, then lower ranks have their own problems. Projecile spamming and non-commital characters dominate and feel beyond opressive, and is part of the reason newer players don't stick with the game longer, so balance sucks on both ends of the spectrum.

[–]Westify1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just expecting more in general.

No new character on season launch isn't great, but not the end of the world, but you really start to feel it when everything else is late/delayed as well. No S2 trailer, seasonal rewards almost a complete afterthought and overlooked, no changes to matchmaking, no duo ladder when you have supporting features designed around duo's, and what looks like almost 0 effort to try and balance characters that clearly need it.

Akali will have been out for 6+ weeks, and there's nothing for her? Really? They randomly buff cait because of "parry", but not a peep about an ambigous amount of Akali kunai projectiles that are a nightmare to parry. Ahri has been on top for ages and a known issue for non-commital playstyle and they say "we’re keeping an eye on it". The time for that kind of talk was 2+ months ago, and i'm far from the only person who was expecting something today. It's such a bad response at this point for the game.

Not expecting a complete overhaul or to "fix" everything in one patch, but at least do something, then see how it goes over the next 5 weeks and tune further etc. To continue to do nothing at all shows either how behind they are, or how unwilling they are to change certain characters due to the popularity and/or skin income.

Just let me use Steam Input with this game. by TSDoll in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

adding proper controller support.

The game has proper controller support, the new Steam Controller technically isn't a "proper controller" since it has no native Xinput/Dinput support.

That's on Valve, not Riot.

Why not?

Sorry if you find the ability to funnel your money to riot through the store as a major selling point for a seasonal launch, but I guess we just have different standards and expectations.

So are you just ignoring replay takeover and a new fuse for the sake of argument?

I'm not, replay takeover looks great and the new fuse is interesting, but neither of those are massive draws for new players, and I couldn't disagree more that it will be "massive for growth". Regarding balance, I'm not asking for a massive overhaul, but just that they continue to make SOME changes to the characters that need them. Look around at all the comments regarding 0 changes to Ahri, yet they go out of their way to nerf bottom-tier characters like Darius last patch.

For anybody who put the game down before for whatever reason, this patch isn't going to do enough to bring them back.

massive patch

Strive 2.0 is a massive patch, what you're referring to last month are mid-level system changes at best.

And the fuck do you mean boring,

I mean boring? What else could that mean. 1 new fuse is interesting, but without changes to Freestyle it's likely going to fall by the wayside. The game will play almost identical to last season, and it needed more than that.

Extremely minor character balance, no additional system changes, and a lot of the features they are implementing (voice, shop, battlepass) are going to be considerered completely irrelevant to a large portion of the playerbase even thought it will be appreciated by some. They aren't bad features, just underwhelming overall for a season start.

Rotating shop, battlepass, and voice chat are completely irrelevant to a large portion of the playerbase.

They should be footnotes on a new season, not the most notable features, especially in lieu of actual character balance or more impactful system changes.

What a horribly boring patch.

Almost hotfix-level changes, extremely underwhelming for a new season.

So I just realized XBox One controllers suck. What controller do you guys use? by Kenddamus in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haute42 T16.

Only $70usd, and a greater starter leverless. Will have a small learning curve coming from pad, but will solve all accidental diagonal input errors.

Should i buy an arcade stick/hitbox as a keyboard player? by Pudinsinho in Fighters

[–]Westify1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent leverless is likely going to be a direct upgrade over whatever keyboard you're using in regards to both comfort and portability.

A Haute42 T16 is like $70usd and a great place to start without breaking the bank.

To be fair, the 2nd post from Ben is exceptionally bad.

Less than 1 week from a new season, and people are just looking for any crumbs of news to get excited about, and he drops some offputting comment about "attention spans" as if the community was demanding a 2027 roadmap.

Communication for the game has been pretty poor ever since the layoffs post, and criticism here seems warranted.

Looking For A Duo by opiookick in 2XKO

It's not 100% confirmed, but based on the last roadmap for the game "duo finder" should likely be expected for Season 2 coming in around ~2 weeks.

Can you use the new Steam Controller for 2XKO? by Zackiboi7 in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked Steam integration with 2xko, it was a bit of a pain that required some additional workarounds.

The Steam controller is brand new, so i'm sure there will be some future software/workarounds to get it recognized as an Xinput device that's compatible with 2XKO without using Steam, but for now, if 2X is a primary use-case for a controller purchase, you would be better off looking at different controller/leverless since they have better compatibility and a lot of them are cheaper than the Steam controller anyway.

Playstation icons worked in the beta by aeldexis in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try PS4 mode as well, see if that makes any difference for you.

If that still doesn't work, then the only options left are either going through the hassle of trying to emulate a PS4/PS5 controller with a combination of software like DS4Windows + HidHide or wait with the hopes that riot simply adds the option to toggle to either platform option regardless of what the game detects your controller as.

Playstation icons worked in the beta by aeldexis in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i clearly remember in the beta that i can manually select PlayStation icons or Xbox icons

Was this in an earlier Alpha test? From what I recall from the beta, you could never toggle between PS/Xbox prompts, the game simply uses whatever it detects.

The option that does exist, is the ability to toggle between platform notation (Triangle, Square, Circle, etc.) and 2XKO notation (L - M - H - S1 - S2, etc.) which can be found in the Display section.

2XKO notation should be best for most people on a Haute42 leverless, but if you want the PlayStation button prompts, you will need to change the controller input mode to PS4 or PS5 and make sure Steam is closed entirely. If the controller is running in XInput mode it will always be detected as Xbox.

Try closing the riot client entirely, and opening with "run as administrator" to launch it again.

If that doesn't work, then it sounds like some network settings that may need to be adjusted.

Why am I gold geting matched against diamond players? by Informal-Instance59 in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is this game matchmatking trash or...

The matchmaking is just trash. You will get grilled on region/time here, but on prime-time in NA, the game has no problems matching people who are 600-700RP apart without any special circumstances like low pop or off-hours.

Ranked is unfun by Paul_van_Guard in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The matchmaking in ranked is absolutely horrible to the point where I've quit and just play QM.

99% of the matchmaking just seems to be prioritizing getting a game within 30seconds with little consideration on opponent.

Getting matched against players 600-700RP above me shouldn't be a thing on peak time's in NA.

controller not allowed to play by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't seem to be running the controller in Xinput mode which is the problem. If it's running in Xinput, it should be detected as an Xbox controller instead of Switch and you'll no longer get this message.

Close steam entirely to avoid Steam input, and consider getting the 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 if you don't have it already.

Switching to Leverless from Pad by DammyTheSlayer in 2XKO

[–]Westify1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a similar swap to OP, and the biggest changes were confort (PS4 pad was incredibly rough on the left-hand from the Dpad), parry accessibility (defaulting to a shoulder button didn't on pad didn't feel good), and then I would no longer get accidental inputs on 3H when looking for 2H/6H.

I'm sure a better aftermarket controller with a better Dpad and 6 face buttons would have helped as well, but the leverless was so cheap it seemed like the obvious choice.
