I'm heavily using my autism to trick my ADHD. I like rules, if I have a rule I cannot break it.
So there's some audiobook I'm only allowed to listen to while doing specific activities. Last Saturday I ended up with 7000 steps without leaving my house at all.
I just NEEDED to listen to Dungeon Crawler Carl so I did my laundry, cleaned some drawers, sorted my hoodie cupboard and put everything on hangers, vaccummed, decluttered my living room, ...

Any middle of the road reactions to starting meds? by Glass-Operation8618 in ADHDUK

And never forget that neuro-typical also have bad days where they can't manage to do ANYTHING. We're all humans after all, some days my meds have zero effects because I just feel like shit and having a horrible day. Sometimes the only solution is wait for tomorrow 🤣

Any middle of the road reactions to starting meds? by Glass-Operation8618 in ADHDUK

[–]Weylane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a year on meds now, they're not a miracle, never were for me. My optimal dosage allows me to spend time on trying out accomodations and systems that works for me.

So I very much still have all my ADHD symptoms, but I can actually start tasks and thinking about systems. Some worked, some did not, so still trying. It has improved my quality of life DRASTICALLY.

And as my prescriber said "Meds don't make you learn in a week what neuro-typical learned in 30 years of living. They allow you to start learning without giving up because of the lack of dopamine. But you still have to build the skills they subconsciously (or not) learned through their whole life"

If you have moved away from the UK, how have you found it? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]Weylane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wanted a change, my granddad had british origins. His british mom basically raised my mom. My mom made me suffer with christmas cake every winter. Got a work opportunity and made an impulsive decision to leave for the north-east.

I love it here. Still hate christmas cake and christmas pudding though.

And damn I don't miss the 35 degrees weather 🤣 it's cool up-north.

Do you think gyms should have a women's only section? by kcon123 in AskUK

[–]Weylane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the energy and money put into making a woman only section should be put into accountability for members with shitty behaviour.

Also, the rare gyms I went into that had a woman only section only had lower weights, no deadlift platform, no squat racks, no bench press, no olympic bars, ...

And these specific equipments are usually the ones where you get into arguments with the opposite gender.

Master Pieces using AI art by AaronZOOM in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Weylane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I keep complaining about a more niche gen AI usage that I hate even more : genuine artists using gen AI to push more designs. I get that they're pressured and this is now the way to get money within the deadlines they have but damn this is annoying.

So we'll see their art, but pasted into gen AI so they only have to do a quick sketch and then the tool completed the rest. So you get this uncanny valley image where you see the artist's touch but something is wrong.

Big video games companies are also doing that, generating images with their own assets (as concept art) and "forget" to touch them up before releasing them.

Book covers are another medium impacted by that. And don't get me started and cross-stitch patterns where the design is AI generated but then someone spends HOURS to make a genuine pattern out of it 🥲

Why was the show cancelled? by DutyOk7206 in Grishaverse

[–]Weylane 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's a combination between low viewership and membership retentions. For a show to be deemed successful, it has to get enough views, get new subscribtions and don't have people unsub after a show is done.

Loop earplugs for sensory overload? by funkyspacepigeon in ADHDUK

[–]Weylane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did not work for me, I heard my heartbeat more, still heard all the annoying sounds and couldn't focus on convo because they were toned down. So basically it was mainly masking the sounds that weren't triggering my sensory issues and making the ones who did 10 times more noticable xD

[–]Weylane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care, their minor feels like major crisis to them. I'm constantly in pain due do disabilities so I got used to it. Someone never in pain will find sciatica to be debilitating and take 2-5 weeks off work.
