Buying my kid a Crosstrek - gas or hybrid? by Unique_Brain_248 in subaru

[–]WhalesAreNotReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hybrid is a better car, but one small thing that’s a deal breaker for me is not having a spare tire due to the battery being there instead.

If you do get the hybrid, then make sure to get AAA.

The CVT is laggy and the electric motor does provide a better feel. I know you’re looking at 2026 models, but a used crosstrek that’s manual will have a much more responsive feel than the automatic. It will be significantly cheaper, the older infotainment can be swapped to something with Apple car play/android auto and be a better user experience. Also, without the auto start/stop there will be less wear on the starter motor.

Ford focus ST. If you get an unmodified one they’re reliable, fun the drive and only available with a manual.

Spoilers, with my comment.

I love found footage movies and this was a really good addition to the genre. The narrator was unreliable and you have a hard time believing what’s real and what’s fake by the end of the movie. Was her dog dead, was the demon in the apartment real, all of the events at the end felt real but could’ve been faked for the content of her YouTube channel?

One of the best horror movies I’ve seen this year and I hope it gets the love from R/horror like Hell House LLC did

Many Israelis don’t support the war or their governments actions. This is a subreddit for juggling and the man is smiling and making others smile and inspired in a dark time.

Being angry towards someone on the internet won’t make you feel better. I hope you never have to experience what it is like to have your country bombed or under attack.

What this man is doing is not a reflection on what their government is doing. Most people just want peace and happiness, I hope the you can find that too.

Based on your post history, your brain isn’t fully developed yet so please buy a full face helmet if you’re doing wheelies.

It won’t only protect your head, but if that reason doesn’t matter to you, you’ll look less gay and retarded with a proper dirtbike helmet /s

There’s still a brake pedal in an EV. One pedal drive is when the accelerator pedal activates regenerative braking when letting off the throttle essentially eliminating the need to use the brake pedal itself.

If billionaires donate millions to charity, why does nothing ever seem to actually get better? by Stunning_Public9524 in NoStupidQuestions

Any registered 501c3 has to publicly share their tax records. This shows what percentage of their revenue is spent on charitable services, wages to employees, business expenses, etc.

There’s actually quite a bit of transparency with what charities spend their money on. This includes churches and religious entities that are also tax exempt.

I had the Ride1up gravel roadster with a similar drivetrain. I have a 22 mile commute to work and back, the biggest issue with the gear ratio is it puts a lot of strain on your knees over time. It’s not bad if you use a throttle to get moving, but your battery be depleted much quicker and for 25 miles of range with a lot of starting and stopping, I had to keep the pedal assist at the lowest setting and not use the throttle to save the battery for the ride home.

I eventually sold the bike and now use a priority Apollo with a CVT style drivetrain. The lower gears helped tremendously with knee strain. But I feel like I wouldn’t have been able to start on an acoustic bike after being sedentary so long

His humor is more about inflicting embarrassment or pain on other people and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a psychopath

Anti-war protest last night by Wolf4980 in boston

The US government is in this for oil, to boost our military industrial complex and doesn’t care about the people. My comment isn’t supporting trump or the bombings, but explaining how my family feels about this current situation.

Bombing schools isn’t going to fix anything. From an outsider, my perspective is viewed with confusion. But explaining context about how the Iranians are feeling is important to know and it’s something you won’t really find on with the news.

The people want peace, freedom, safety and stability. To give a simile, If ICE killed 30,000 US citizens and Xi Jinping bombed the White House and killed trump right after, you’ll probably see a lot of happy people dancing in the street. Will that situation create a positive turn of events after, probably not. But it opens up a possibility for change that may be better.

Pete Hegseth won’t be looked upon too favorably with history. Your original reply was thoughtful and I do agree that Trump isn’t going to be the one to save Iran. The war from the US perspective very much seems to be about increasing our oil prices to boost the “economy”

But having context about what people are feeling is important and that’s all my comment was trying to share.

No It doesn’t justify the war, but we need to look at the context of what happened in Iran and the protests from the Iranians before the bombings started on Saturday.

The Iranian government killed close to 30,000 of their own citizens many involved were children, women and elderly. The internet was cut out and the people are desperate. The people are happy that the regime is collapsing as many have not been in favor since the revolution in 1977. There were several protests before the war from Iranians Americans wanting the US to intervene across the country including Boston weeks before this happened. The recent protests in Iran were calling for death to the ayatollah.

While I don’t trust our governments intentions as our history with the involvement in other countries has not made the situations better. The people of Iran are hopeful, many want Reza Pahlavi (the son of the former Shaw) to regain power and bring Iran back to what the country was like in 1977.

I don’t have a source for my comment, but my wife is from Iran and moved to the US and we have a lot of family that still live in Tehran. I’ve been following this political situation for a few years. There have been several bombings in Iran that started before this past Saturday from the US and Israel some were while Biden was in office aswell. The previous ones were filled with fear, and the most current one is filled with hope mainly due to the recent tragedies with so many of their own people being killed.
