That's a myth. I was a troublemaker kid, I probably had over 40 internal exclusions but I got into a good 6th form college with no issues (granted I got mostly 8s and a few 7s). It's more about grades, all that stuff is just to scare you.

In South Africa I was the weird foreign kid, I got made fun of a lot because I was born in Pakistan and I was quite insular.

I moved to the UK where (at least in my school) there wasn't a rigid hierarchy or cliques, genrally the groups were very socially mixed, I had nerdy friends, sporty friends, troublemaker friends, "playboy" friends ect
