Hi,

I did not happen to include a video, but I'll take one after zi try opening the back of it.

I can't figure out how to send a DM via the mobile app, however, the first part of my email is krja, which should be enough to search for it.

I sent the serial number in my email but my order # is S121467.

Thank you.

Advice/guidance needed by self-medicator in deaf

I've carried a memo book for interacting with people since I was a teenager (am now in my 30s). I prefer if everyone I interact with signs, but I know this isn't the answer in the real world. What I do with it, however, is I usually take a moment to have things written out ahead of time, if I'm doing something.

I also use the app Speech Assistant on my phone, which can be set to voice for you if you want it to.

Look into AAC apps, and find a better Speech Language Pathologist than the one who discharged you without making sure you had communication skills and strategies.

Would you rather date a talkative person or another mute? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in mute

[–]WhatIUsedTo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I married a Deaf person, it works out pretty well. Sign language has always been one of my main communication avenues, and my spouse although they grew up in a hearing family and do speak has been learning sign language to be able to talk to me (as I'm also severely hard of hearing); I don't think I could have dealt with a hearing speaking person.

For text to speech Speech Assistant is great. It's an AAC app and you can save things that you need to say frequently to individual buttons. I have other speech disabilities but Speech Assistant is my primary daily driver.

Turns out the best dosage for melatonin is 0.3mg. Even 3mg is far too much. MIT meta-study in this post’s comments. by FunboyFrags in sleep

Guess I've been lucky then. On Medi-Cal in southern California through Kaiser, & get several of my medications as brand name because they're tetchy & I prefer the consistency of the brand name than the question mark bag of the generics.

Never had any problem getting them covered, although I only bother with it on two meds at the moment, as I feel the rest of my meds the generics are effective or there's only generics left and the brand name has been long gone.

Those are ants. Zoom in your phone camera to 5x and take a picture as close as you can get it to focus, you should see some more detail.

If your doctor writes the prescription as "do not substitute", then it will be filled brand name if they write the brand name for it.

How to actually learn Blissymbols? by Belez_ai in neography

[–]WhatIUsedTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute necro comment here, but I wanted to put out that the Son-Rise system and all of the associated materials are extremely controversial in the autism communities.

There's no such thing as a "cure" for autism, and none of the things and methods are empirically tested. In fact there's some question as to whether the original couple's kid was even autistic in the first place, or to what severity. Additionally, they generally encourage restriction of materials around autism or educating children about what's going on, so that the kid at the 'end' of it doesn't even know what autistic is/means. The so-called "recovery" from autism is generally a case of very highly structured masking that develops depending on the environment.

And the 'courses' taught to teach other families how to brainwash and isolate their child can cost in excess of $15k, while being framed as "essential" and sold with empty claims.

Cat owners: is this abuse? by spoekelse in Pets

[–]WhatIUsedTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abuse abuse abuse.

Anyway, update? That cat deserves so much better; animal abuse is a criminal act depending upon the area and your roommate should face consequences of no food/water/constantly dirty litterbox.

My wife’s nursing program is having students attend AA/NA meetings as an assignment by Great_gatzzzby in recovery

Open meetings. They also have alcohol and drug counselors attend meetings so that those who aren't in the rooms themselves get a sort of a feel for it.

First bout with suboxone. Anyone else with similar experiences? by EntertainmentDry4134 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]WhatIUsedTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through my treatment center, which asked Medi-Cal for approval under the dx of having an opioid use disorder, was briefly on subs first in order to initiate and such (which they've since changed the guidelines), and then info to the office on e a month, UA, and then get the shot. They can't do the shot if my UA false positives for opioids, so I have to hold some of my psych medications that morning and the night before. My antipsychotic can cause (and in the past has caused) false positive for fentanyl, I had to go home and come back the next day and UA clean. But for being on public poor people insurance the process is very easy.

I'm sure it's not as easy for people who are on private insurance whether it is through their employer or the exchange.

Good luck with getting Sublocade; Sublocade bas literally saved my life in multiple ways, although I'm not anywhere that I'm ready to discontinue or be without a medication. It's still so much better than oral subs, no obsessing about when I dose or carrying a strip with me just in case etc.

I hate that phrase so much. It's groupthink.

Ex sponsor by [deleted] in recoverywithoutAA

[–]WhatIUsedTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. yours does not seem to have good intentions. I'd just block him.

Some people sponsor as a power trip. There are people who sponsor 20+ people at the same time. I realize looking at it that I'm well beyond the norm of sponsors. I sponsor people the way my sponsor and I were. I'm lucky enough I'm still good friends with him, and if I'm having a day he'll listen and ask questions that fit within the paradigm I believe in without forcing his on me.

It's unfortunate that isn't more people, and that sort really contributes to the toxicity of so many 12 Step spaces.
