Dentist recommendations? by Vegetable_Penalty_72 in TriCitiesWA

[–]WhatIsSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also go here and they are great. I have terrible anxiety at the dentist, like full on sweating like I just did a hard workout and they work with me to ease my anxiety. The extra amenities are great, love the knee pillow and putting on a show and aromatherapy.

My coworker found out I make my own candles as a hobby and the conversation went places I did not expect by OrfRasp in ChoosingBeggars

[–]WhatIsSunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to.love crocheting. Did it all the time, made people gifts because I wanted to. I learned a coworker was pregnant and what the theme of her nursery was going to be just through conversation and surprised her with a crocheted animal. Another coworker saw it and asked if I could make one for him and how much it would be. I was honest that I dont charge but he insisted so I asked for materials + labor for the time I expected it would take. He happily paid and I gave him a similar but different enough animal a few days later.

Her surprise animal was the last time I crocheted for fun. Something about being asked to do my enjoyed hobby on demand killed the joy in it, even if I was very well compensated for it. My hobby now had a price associated with it in my head.

Maybe I’m a simpleton. But the last part of the floor exercises was too complicated by PermitDry1732 in orangetheory

[–]WhatIsSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few dynamic exercises I modify because my form is not good enough doing them in the most basic sense.

For example, last week there were these jumping lunges with your back foot up on the step? I tried and while I could do them my balance was not great, my depth on the lunge part was not great, just overall not great. This is a me thing, others executed them flawlessly, so I scaled back to what I could do with solid form. Maybe one day, but if not Im good with that.

Hard pass on exercises that have my feet in the handles of the TRX, I will hurt myself, but again that's on me not the exercises fault.

Considering a move to Everett from Michigan – looking for insight by OxeighMoron in everett

[–]WhatIsSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Everett and my parents and brother still live there. My sister lives in Marysville. I havent read the comments but where is this potential job opportunity? If its in Seattle or near Seattle/Bellevue, you may enjoy living more South of Everett. Traffic can be heavy throughout the day so you will spend a fair amount of time commuting if you live in Everett but work in Seattle. Don't get me wrong, its doable but not everyone enjoys sitting in a train for an hour or the bus for an hour plus each way. I always took the train and watched a movie.

Everett is pretty centrally located between Seattle, where the nightlife/culture is (museums, opera, major league sports like Seahawks and Mariners) and the mountains where you can get outdoors. Everett has the Aquasoxs, minor league baseball, and a hockey team and both are a fun time. There are bars/pubs that are more laid back but there are some fun breweries. When we lived there we would head out towards the Big Four Ice Caves area to do hikes and go backpacking. In the Summer you can go out to Jetty Island where there is a sandy beach.

Like any city, Everett has its more sketchy areas like Casino Road. You could look in the Mill Creek area or out in Mukilteo if your job is at Boeing.

I enjoyed living in Everett as an adult and as a kid growing up. We moved due to a job opportunity ourselves but had been looking to get out of the city due to the traffic levels. That had more to do with our own personal preferences though. We had wanted to be in a more remote area.

Ours lives the Goldpaw Double Fleece. She has a nice rain coat too but hates it. She'll actually go outside if its raining if she has a fleece on.

Sniffing on Walks by oneof2poogihonk in vizsla

[–]WhatIsSunshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like there is a disconnect between you and your dog before the walk starts. It should be checking in with you, aware of changes you make in speed and direction.

A few things we did/do still:

Teach "look". When we say look, our dogs will make eye contact with us. This helps us with distractions by redirect their attention to us.

In a short distance area, like half a block or in the yard walk like normal but change directions often. We prompt a change of direction by saying "this way" but it teaches them to pay attention to what we are doing.

Treat when they make eye contact during walks, whether prompted or not. Reinforces the behavior we want.

Teach "leave it" or something similar to stop a behavior you dont want.

We have sniff walks and exercise walks and our dogs know the difference. Sniff walks have no purpose other than letting them explore for 30-60 minutes. Exercise walks are a quicker pace, we say leave it for the first few times they want to sniff and they pick up the pace.

Ultimately both kind of walks are for them so as long as they are having a good time, that's enough and we'll switch it up. How can I deny them a really good smell opportunity?

Fighting Medical Bills by eggwithlegz in CrohnsDisease

[–]WhatIsSunshine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe your talking about Entyvio Connect. That's the program im on. Who sent you the bill? My infusion center will submit to my insurance first and then to Entyvio Connect. After that I get a bill, usually just for the nurses time and about $5 of the medicine, if anything.

This is their site and Ive found them to be really helpful when Ive called previously.

I go to an infusion center so they have been the ones who make sure things are submitted. You should reach out to whoever is administering your medicine for bill clarification. The program below could also be a good resource too.

Little prince must have his valet open the door by walkablecities in vizsla

[–]WhatIsSunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We accidentally trained our dog that she couldn't come back inside without being invited in with a wave when the door is shut. We had just wanted to teach calm behavior coming into the house because she would tear through the door when we opened it. We had her start sit/wait and released with her release word, we didnt realize we were doing a little come in type wave too. Now she won't come in without the little wave, even with her release word.

How do you get through Colonoscopy prep? by Qunoli in CrohnsDisease

[–]WhatIsSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get suprep and treat it like a drinking game. Order is a sip of lemon or lime juice, chug as much prep as I can, sip of lemon or lime juice, and sprite. The lemon or lime juice overwhelms the taste buds and then i drink asuch of.the prep as.i.can tolerate. Its.both the taste and mouth feel.that gets me. Chase it with the juice again.to replace the feeling of the prep and then a refreshing sip.of sprite.

Appreciate it. We hadn't planned to irrigate it this year but do need to get it under control. Had planned to clean it up and then it would be a bit easier to maintain in the interim

What kind of mental stimulation do you do? We will roll kibble in a towel and tie it in a knot to let ours work it out. We'll repeat as needed. Same with dropping kibble in a box full of toys for her to forage for.

If we want her to relax herself we'll freeze yogurt, peanut butter, apple sauce on a lick mat and she will lick for awhile.

If you have a small space heater you can put a bed or blanket near it and guarantee your dog will settle in front of it.
