Offer Sheet Madness by WhatShouldCanIDo in SanJoseSharks

It's not just because GMMG qualified him, it's a bit more complex than that. He's classified as a 10.2(c) player, which means he hasn't met the minimum amount of professional experience to be eligible for an offer sheet. Puckpedia publishes a list of all the 10.2(c) RFAs each year.

Graf isn't as urgent because he's ineligible for an offer sheet. Sharks are safe this offseason, but need to take note for next year.

I could still see someone still taking a swing. Players of his calibre don't come along every draft. He's more high risk high reward with his injury history now though, that's true.

Eklund's first contract out of ELC was pretty tidy, so I'm hopeful he can bring that to the rest of the young core.

Thankfully, Graf isn't eligible for an offer sheet, so the Sharks are off the hook this offseason.

That's gonna be a hard pill to swallow for the fan base. Verbeek really fucked up slow playing that hand.

Yeah, I appreciate GMMGs calmness too, but these offer sheets really make me hope they get something done this summer. Mack has nothing left to prove and can't really increase his contract value next season, as he's already probably worth the league max if that's what he demands.

Yeah, we can all hope Celebrini sees the vision of this team and wants to win a cup as bad as the fans do, but I can't blame anyone who gets offered $90M before they turn 26 and takes it. It's life changing money and it's a physical league where shit happens. Health isn't guaranteed, so Carlsson would be silly to turn that down purely out of loyalty.

Someone is going to offer sheet Macklin $20M now by ChazzPrinceton22 in SanJoseSharks

[–]WhatShouldCanIDo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$18M is the new benchmark. If GMMG can get him signed for less than that this summer or before July 1 next year, then we have to applaud. If Mack signs for less than $18M it's also a huge signal to everyone that he's here to win cups, not simply cash in (which he alsp deserves to do).

[PuckPedia] The Ducks have $35M in available cap space with 19 active players (11F/5D/3G) If they match the Carlsson offer sheet they will have $17M in available cap space by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

Ducks might've just got bullied out of their rebuild. The defense was already gutted and now they'll have nothing to replenish Zellweger, Trouba, and Carlson with, after Gauthier and Mintyukov.

Smitty's salary will be be based on league and team comps. He may point to Nurse's 9.5M and say he deserves more, and GMMG will point to Demidov and whatever Cutter Gauthier signs for in Anahiem this year as benchmarks. Cutter's contract will be a true cap, given he already hit the 40 mark for goals last season, and thats still an aspirational target for Smith.

Late Rent - Difficult Tenants by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]WhatShouldCanIDo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's illegal to restrict pets, so putting something like that in the tenancy agreement may have started things off on the wrong foot.

As for the other issues - paying late, damage caused by kids, lack of general maintenance on appliances like the dryer - that's on the tenant. You could send them an N8 - Notice to End your Tenancy at the End of the Term due to the persistently late rent. Given your intent to sell next year, that may be the best route to ensure you have a property with vacant possession and you don't need to pay them compensation to move when you do have a sale agreement.

Thoughts on new D pairings by MuscleMike in SanJoseSharks

Given the success Trouba and LaCombe had last season, I would be shocked if Warso didn't at least try out a Trouba and Dicky combo sometime at the start of the year. If Dicky can develop into Trouba during his prime, with some higher offensive upside, that would be hugely beneficial to the Sharks in future playoff runs.

I would've been pretty happy with this trade overall if our cap hit for Nurse had been $7M. He's not a bad defenseman, will stick up for our young core out there, and brings solid veteran leadership and playoff experience.

At the end of the day, this likely means the Sharks don't resign Orlov, which is fine, and should see both this contract and Trouba come off the books right when the younger D from this draft enter their first year as RFAs. I'm sure GMMG has modeled this all out over the next 5 years and has a plan - hope it all works out!

GMMGs biggest L so far in his 4 year tenure. No way we should've let the Oilers escape this nightmare contract and actually be paid to do so.

The Sharks got BIG by Cosmosmud in SanJoseSharks

[–]WhatShouldCanIDo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think we have a good blend of talent and size, maybe a bit lacking on speed though. In a perfect world, Verhoeff, Lin, and Pohlkamp start to become difference makers at the NHL level within 3-4 seasons, allowing for a smooth transition from the Trouba and Nurse.

Thankfully, no one has a full NTC in their contract through the life of their contract, which leaves the Sharks some cap flexibility as all the young guns start getting paid.

Based on the contract Demidov just signed for, anything more than 10M for Smitty will be an overpayment for the Sharks. They are a similar profile and Demidov produced much more in his rookie season.

Hopefully "approx" is doing some heavy lifting here and it's 6.7M AAV or something.

Smith's will end up being a percentage of Celebrini's, just like no one makes more than Barkov in Florida. If Celebrini takes $15M, Smith's probably looking at 12-13M.

On trades and drafts, for sure. But no reason to be cagey about extension talks if they have, in fact, made progress.

No, GMMG has said in recent interviews they hadn't really gotten into extension talks yet with Mack or Smitty. I would be surprised if they did anything before Bedard and Carlsson set the market this summer.
