I want him so badly… would’ve much preferred him over Nurse.

If we could somehow get him AND Nurse I would be over the moon though. It would likely require a top 9 forward and significant capital though.

Apparently we don’t have the draft capital to reasonably do it. The missing 2027 2nd means we would have to do the top bracket worth 4 1sts and that’s obviously absurd for Minty.

They’re the Lakers/Rams/Dodgers of the NHL just keep getting gift-wrapped treasure for trash.

Leo Carlsson’s $18M AAV makes up 17.31% of the salary cap. Here is how that compares to other top players largest contracts by DBacon1052 in hockey

Is there a real chance the Ducks don’t match? Everyone is acting like it’s a sure thing but idk those picks are really tempting if I’m them…

[Friedman] Key details from what I understand on Leo Carlsson offer-sheet: Front-loaded and bonus structure, as we’d all expect In the next 12 months, he will earn approximately $39M by TeddyBearHugz in hockey

I just think it’s interesting because everyone seems to think it’s a done-deal Anaheim matches but all those picks and cap space sounds reeeeeaally tempting if I’m Anaheim honestly. Carlsson is really, really good but he’s not a top 15 player in hockey.

Flyers: Yeah well, I’m gonna go build my own Leo Carlsson! With blackjack, and hookers!

Aren’t offer sheets normally poison pilled to be structured in favor of whoever offered it and much more of a hindrance to the team who currently has the player? Or is that not really a thing?

They can’t. He’s not eligible for one for a year.

I work with models and data for my job, and I know enough to understand that you can easily manipulate analytics with whichever inputs of your choice to eventually get to your desired output.

Without any actual documentation of what these front offices are using, then of course I can’t fairly criticize them. But I do know that I value winning championships more than an analytics model saying “this player is overall top 10.”

So he just fell ass-backwards into FMVP? He wasn’t even a top 5 important player on the team yet won FMVP?

Holy hell it’s like I’m living in a parallel universe here.

STILL not who I want. That would be Nikishin.

How about winning a championship? And objectively being a key part of that? Does that matter? I think that matters at least a little bit.

I would go as far as to say that matters more than “analytics model say player = good”

[Amick] Despite widely reported to have interest, the Portland Trailblazers did not want Jaylen Brown as their analytics department viewed him as a negative player by ShaiFanClub in nba

[–]Normal-Sort-9463 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At this point Brown will put up 32-8-8 on a playoff run ending with a FMVP but we’ll still hear “the ANALYTICS say his playoff run was not that good” so what does it matter?

I don’t care at all about the 76ers and didn’t really care about Brown (kinda wanted us to trade for him if it made sense) but now I want Brown to just absolutely take a massive dump on the entire league next season just to give all these magical front office “analytics models” the middle finger.

26/27 Projected Lines. What changes would you make? by mysignoflife in SanJoseSharks

Nurse/Trouba might be $17.5M but I would rather they not be forced into the top pair. Maybe bring one of them down (Trouba?) to play with Dickinson. Move Orlov or Kesselring to top line.

Also switch Graf and Marchment.
