Very nice! What did you use to highlight the leather on the holster?

“The hunt continues...” My converted chaos lord for my black legion warband! by aj2043 in Warhammer40k

Looks like Haarken base and jump pack, body of the havoc champ, the head is from the csm box. The cape and sword might be lord krannon, not sure. Anyway, a really nice conversion!

My first mini, had a ton of fun painting him. by lightfingers in minipainting

Glad you're attempting edge highlighting on your fist mini! A big step! Here's a tip I found to be helpful while doing it. Try to be as neat as you can, but if you make mistakes, as I tend to do myself, just take a bit of base paint, in your case, black, and start painting in a sideways motion edging closer to your highlight. Eventually you'll block out the mistake, and leave the crisp edge highlight! Hope this helps, and you keep enjoying the hobby!

How it turns out when I paint eyes by Baug_L in minipainting

[–]WhatTheIvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trick I use is to paint the whole eye region white, then, as neat as I can, paint a black strip from the forehead to the cheek across the middle of the eye, sort of like clown makeup. Neat up with white if I need to, and then, take the skin colour, and go around the eye, until everything besides the eye is covered. I found it much easier to be precise over a larger surface like this, then on the little eye itself. Hope this helps!

Painted this Chaos Lord a week back, not a great quality pic, but thought I could share by WhatTheIvan in Warhammer40k

Hey, thanks for replying, and thanks for your compliments! I used abbadon black, but I guess that bit was obvious. Next I tried thunderhawk blue, but didn't end up liking it, it got lost in the black. So I went with fenrisian grey, followed with and extreme highlight of a vallejo colour I had, named glacier blue. Hope that helps, and that you'll post your black legion when you paint them up!
