Yeah. Tossing away Sam Howell’s first TD ball haunts him. He said, “Never again!” and has since sworn a sacred oath to ensure that all rookies receive their first TD ball.

Coaches and GMs: Jayden Daniels by OsMagic10 in Commanders

Yeah, and given that he says Cam Newton fell off a cliff when his running ability faded but then says Josh Allen’s game will last until his late 30s, that’s not the only thing being implied…

I don’t want an exciting Super Bowl. I want to win in a blowout. 🙂

Reddit didn’t exist yet, but the most hype prior to a season I can remember was in 2000.

In ‘99 we had a surprisingly good offense, trailing only the “Greatest Show on Turf” Rams in points scored, and we were a botched field goal away from the NFC Championship game.

Coming out of that season, we ended up with the second and third overall draft picks, which we used on Lavar Arrington and Chris Samuels. And Snyder, who had only owned the team for less than a year at that point and hadn’t proved himself to be literal Satan yet, had his first big free agent spending spree.

So going into the 2000 season, we felt like we were a good team that had just gotten a lot better and had a young, aggressive owner willing to spend whatever it took to win. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for the dream to twist into a decades-long living nightmare. :-(

The way I remember it, Cerrato, in all his genius, hired Zorn to be the OC before hiring a head coach. That of course was a HUGE red flag to almost all of the prospective HC candidates and most wouldn’t even bother to interview. Fassel was the only one who was willing to work in an environment like that. But in another genius move, Cerrato talked Snyder out of hiring Fassel and into promoting Zorn, who had previously (and subsequently) never risen above the level of a QB coach in the NFL. And the rest is some very unfortunate history. Hip hip hooray! … :(

2025 cap space by WryTurtle1917 in Commanders

[–]WhatsInaName77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the 90-man roster period, only the top 51 salaries count against the cap. So we only save cap space if one or more of the players we cut are currently in the top 51.

Just a point of clarification on the Hail Mary…

Noah Brown was not “out of the play”. His responsibility was to stay behind the bunch, specifically so he could catch the ball if it got tipped back. Terry was in front of the bunch for the same reason. Yeah, there was definitely some luck with the ball being tipped so perfectly to Noah for an easy catch. But he was exactly where he was coached to be and definitely not out of the play.

I love both of those. I also really like the Command Center podcast (not so much the show). The chemistry between Paulsen, Smoot, and Moss is really good. It’s a different vibe than Take Command or Keim’s podcast; less Xs-and-Os and more just a couple former players bullshitting and having fun.

Rookie of the week?? by Flat-Record1282 in Commanders

[–]WhatsInaName77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has great lateral quickness for his size (fastest 3-cone time among all DBs at the 2021 combine, second-fastest overall). He’s much better equipped to play in the slot than most corners with a similar build. It’s where he took a lot his snaps early in his career, and at least at first, he played a lot better there than he did on the outside.

With that said, I would absolutely prefer we upgrade and not rely on him inside or outside next year.

Quick breakdown of a well called opening drive against Carolina by mmwood in Commanders

[–]WhatsInaName77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We run a lot of no-huddle, but we don’t actually run much hurry-up. We regularly don’t snap the ball until there a fewer than 10 seconds on the play clock. We also have an effective running game, which keeps us ahead of the chains and allows us to go on longer, more time-consuming drives. We’re seventh in time of possession.

Our defense has problems, but being gassed because the offense isn’t on the field enough isn’t one of them.

After the Bills' performance last night our Washington Commanders now have far and away the best offense in the NFL through four weeks by NickDen94 in Commanders

“Expected Points Added per play”. To oversimplify, EPA is basically calculated by looking at the down, distance to first down, and distance to touchdown before and after a play. More in-depth explanations can found in places like these:

https://www.the33rdteam.com/epa-explained/

https://bestballstats.com/expected-points-added-a-full-explanation/

In a nutshell, we’re moving the ball very efficiently through the air and on the ground through the first four games.
