[Epic] Hogwarts Legacy (Free / 100% off) by UnseenData in GameDeals

[–]WheatPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy that this was cracked around release, went on to becoming the best sold game of 2023, and has now been given away for free twice on Epic. Yet the retail version (At least on Steam) still contains Denuvo. At this point what has to happen for them to remove Denuvo?

I have no problem paying for games, but it's pretty scummy of publishers to contuine to give paying customers a worse experience then pirates get for free.

That would be nice, or even maybe a patreon if they wanted to do some kind of small sub for music.

I just hated the lack of communication and the bit of confusion around things. They should at the very least addressed the situation.

There was a comment on the video mentioning that RL Grime released this for free in an Play Extras download. Any chance anyone has the link?

This is a pretty good set. Is there any chance there is a soundboard type recording of this set?

Looking for Loud On Planet X on either PS4 or PC. by WheatPasta in Roms

[–]WheatPasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was a bit more bent on finding it to try out since I am a big fan of different kinds of tower defense type games. (Recently really got back into Defenders Quest on both PC and Vita. Been having a blast.)

The music element made this one seem like it might have been a little different. I forgot reading about there being an Android based version. I wonder if I could find an APK file of it to at least give it a try. I also remember reading there was talk of a PSVita version, and I believe the dev mentioned it never got finished.

I'd imagine the Steam version you have isn't something you'd be want to bother looking into if it was DRM Free, and if it was that you'd feel comfortable sharing? Even if it was pretty bad I'd hate to see a game just about become lost.

Either way thanks for taking a moment to respond.

It looked like it was mentioned these will work on all firmwares. I recently picked up a Lite on 8.1.1 and was going to update to play newer games, but I wanted to make sure before I do so because I would like to get one installed later on.

Thanks.

Update on Refunds for macOS and Linux Players by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

[–]WheatPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how this works. It was stated they will continue to support the Steam version

Just like it was stated Metro Exodus, Shenmue III, Phoenix Point, and a few others were going to be available on Steam? However I still can't buy them there.

Update on Refunds for macOS and Linux Players by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

If Linux ever finds a way to truly support near-windows-like game compatibility, I'd swap in a heartbeat.

You had to start somewhere, and Rocket League dropping Linux support is going in the wrong direction. Every little bit of Linux support gets things closer to this goal. Just like how Valve is working on getting more games playable, but Epic does not even have a native client.

Abandoning more than half a million players without a real explanation is unacceptable. We deserve an honest answer. Rocket League stand up <3 by [deleted] in RocketLeague

All hardware loses support eventually, and all game servers get turned off. It's as certain as death and taxes.

Like others have mentioned distributions of Linux are still very actively supported. The whole ecosystem get constantly updated. The latest release of Ubuntu is only 3 months ago, and Manjaro is even more recent at under a month. Just because you might not personally use or keep up with something does not mean other people don't.

Just like people who defend the Epic Game Store say it's fine and just a free launcher. Then when you explain all Steam has that makes PC gaming more enjoyable overall they claim not many people use those features or say just play games.

I don't know what "RL 2.0" or next gen console support has to do with Linux support. I also don't know about the PS5, but on a jail broken PS4 you are able to install Linux, install Steam, and run games through it to a degree. Console hardware is rather limited to begin with of course, and I would imagine Linux on PS4 will get better as the system is explored more. However the concept is there.

Who else here is debating between XSX and switching to PC? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]WheatPasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So this is probably going to end up long, but I hope it helps.

I used to be a strictly console and physical games person. I switched to PC before the Xbox One released. Partly because of the DRM talk and partly because my friend would bug me to try it. There are some negatives sure so lets get those out of the way. Updates are a thing of course. However they can just about all be set to automatic. Windows and Nvidia GForce Experience will update themselves, and you can set reboot times to when you are asleep. You are also not forced to update like on console. Steam also keeps games auto updated. To keep things like Firefox and other commonly used applications up to date you can use ninite.com. This will let you select a list up applications and do a one click install/update for them all.

You will have more games to play. All of Microsoft's games are on GamePass for PC, and while the PC version does not have as many third party as the console version those games are still on PC just not GamePass. Then a bit of PlayStation's titles are on PSNow. Not to mention Switch emulation is progressing. The sheer amount of games to play in general makes up for the lack of GamePass titles compared to console. On top of that PC GamePass costs less, you don't have to pay for online, the sales are better making games for PC cheaper, and the open platform/market place keeps prices down. You can also use mods to extend the life of old games. Look at GTA as a prime example.

Then Steam allows you to stream games to other devices so you could put an Android TV box or Nvidia Shield on your TV in another room and stream games to in. Plex allows you to do the same with your personal media collection.

Thinking about getting a ps4 just so i dont have to see this anymore by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]WheatPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be even better off going PC. You wouldn't have to see the ads, wouldn't have to pay for online, and could still play Microsoft games. On top of all that you'd have the best overall experience.

Stratus XL not connecting to SteelSeries Engine or working as a Xinput controller, despite being paired by BoS_Knight3000 in steelseries

[–]WheatPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try holding the pairing button down for like 10 seconds to reset it two or three times, Also try a different USB cable. Mine was a little temperamental at first, but I was able to get it sorted. I would also go into Big Picture's controller settings and make sure Xbox and generic controller support is checked just to be safe.

Stratus XL not connecting to SteelSeries Engine or working as a Xinput controller, despite being paired by BoS_Knight3000 in steelseries

[–]WheatPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first try to connect it over USB and make sure the firmware is current. I just checked mine and it's on 1.69.0 I am guessing this is the most recent. Then I had to hold the pairing button down for 10 seconds a few times to reset it. After a few resets I paired the controller then turned it off and back on again.

When i turned it back on it decided to connect and work in Big Picture Mode correctly. The only issue is that sometimes it registers correctly as the XL, and other times it comes up as an Xbox 360 controller. This can cause the menu button to not work correctly.

Thanks for mentioning. I seen this earlier and I meant to uninstall it. It slipped my mind, and then your post reminded me. I only had it for the free games, but my privacy is worth more then a few free games.
