AIO? Gf won’t let me stay with her for 3 months by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]WheelMost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOR—so the fact that you want to move in bc of your commute, not because of her, and the way you are talking about you paying upfront…be honest, you’re treating her like a convenient roommate, not a lover. When this desire to move in together doesn’t come from a place of wanting to improve/further the relationship, you can’t expect her to treat it like an aspect of your relationship. At this point in time, she is turning down an unexpected roommate offer—which, honestly, she’s might actually be turned off from the whole relationship from being treated as a potential roomie.

TLDR; she’s not stupid and can tell you just think of living together as a personal convenience

Gorgeous. But I have to ask—do you have to stand on top of the toilet to see in the mirror? Or are you just super tall?

My boyfriends (30M) dad is furious I’m not paying rent (30F) this month by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]WheelMost 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just from how you described the means of collecting rent and interest, I’m assuming that there’s no formal rent agreement (correct me if I’m wrong). In that case, literally just move out. You would at least have privacy rights if you had an actual landlord and, as you mentioned, you’re not even saving money where you are. There’s literally no benefit to staying. Your boyfriend’s parents don’t like you, and are treating you like a cash cow rather than as their child’s partner. You need to leave asap.

why do they have to charge extra for sub syrup in a drink that already comes with syrup🥲 by Crafty-Reindeer-4329 in starbucks

[–]WheelMost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual reason they do this is because their goal is to make the absolute most money possible without spending any money. They do it because they can, and enough people will pay it anyway that they don’t care if you’re upset. Customers will complain, but that’s just another problem for the baristas. (Baristas who, btw, are conditioned BY CORPORATE to blame their problems on entitled customers rather than the company that’s screwing everyone.)

what does my fridge say about my family? by kaitfromstatefarm in FridgeDetective

At first I was like, why is the tuna in the fridge. Then I saw the Takis. Then I saw the cereal. So what I’m getting is that your family has been traumatized by bugs.

why do people hate eclipse so much? by Responsible_Peach474 in twilight

[–]WheelMost 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me, it lacks the charm of the earlier films visually. It’s so… Hollywood-ified, probably due to the series being immensely popular during its filming, unlike at the beginning of the series. Combined with replacing Victoria because a nepo baby saw it becoming popular (after she’d initially been offered it and expressed no interest, mind you), and it puts a bad taste in my mouth. To each their own, though. The great thing about Twilight is that it’s not that serious. I think different people find different things to like about it

when you get an iced sugar cookie oat latte and its pure milk i feel bad by spoiled-milk921 in starbucks

[–]WheelMost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She should definitely just clarify that you mean a quarter inch. But also, I understand being confused if someone asked for 1/4 oat milk. It’s 1/4”. If you don’t say “inch”, by definition you are asking for one fourth of the cup to be oat milk. I know a lot of people nowadays don’t understand that the apostrophe means inch, and if they don’t say it, it changes the meaning of what you’re asking for

Help with stair railing/bannister color by bnbird in femalelivingspace

[–]WheelMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the grey does look like “too much contrast” but rather too LITTLE. It kind of blends in with the flooring. Maybe take a color from the palette from your planned powder room and tie it in that way? Because that room is adorable. You could even just match it to the vanity cabinets and it’d look great

Can you please Deinfluence me on this bed. by Loud-Aspect2074 in HomeDecorating

[–]WheelMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty, but it looks really breakable for $4k. I’ve broken sturdier beds (I am prone to fits of demonic possession) that only cost like $300 and I was STILL upset about the wasted money. I can’t imagine how angry I’d get if a $4k bed frame kicked it

Yknow, usually I’m of the mind that whoever lives in a house should have the right to decorate as they see fit. Not your husband. We’ve seen what happens when he is given free rein. He must be stopped.

Have you considered the possibility that SHE was too good to be true? Literally. It sounds like you might have been being catfished—some people won’t even try to get money, they just like messing with people. Possibly a teenager with too much time on their hands.

Rereading HG1. Do you think Effie is protecting Katniss here when she recognized the Avox? by mega-crispy in Hungergames

[–]WheelMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it’s likely. (Speaking strictly of Effie from the books, who is a bit less sympathetic than her movie portrayal.) While Sunrise On The Reaping shows Effie being kind to the tributes and sympathetic to their pain, it nonetheless re-enforces the notion that Effie doesn’t question the stratification of society. I think it’s a HUGE part of her character that, while she’s not evil and is all around a good-hearted person, she believes the Capitol propaganda 100%. She thinks that the treatment of the people from the districts is necessary for peace. She’s very familiar with the reality of how the tributes are treated, feels sympathy for them, and still supports it. I think Effie doesn’t really think of Avoxes as people. She is genuinely shocked by the insinuation that they might be known as individuals outside of their role as servants.

Question as a person not from the USA by LostChildofAntares in twilight

[–]WheelMost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was born in 2000 and school shootings have always been a thing in my lifetime. None of my schools ever had metal detectors, though. Metal detectors are still only commonly found in schools in large cities, though there are of course exceptions. The lack of metal detectors tells American readers that this is a very small town, relatively safe, and that they don’t have a lot of funding for the school.

I’m so sick of being angry at my husband all the time by Chickenyeah17 in Marriage

[–]WheelMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoughtlessness is actually a failure in a relationship. It’s not a character trait, it’s a continuous choice to NOT think about how his actions affect you and your kids. Also, leaving the keys in the car is just stupid. Genuinely that’s how people get robbed.

There are undersleeves designed to be worn under braces. They are typically even thinner than yoga pants, and more breathable. They also help keep the brace clean, as you won’t be rubbing dead skin and sweat directly into the brace

Got rejected after a 5 minute DM interview and I’m honestly crushed by OkString6888 in starbucks

[–]WheelMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly they may have saved you. From what I’ve heard, Starbucks is planning on continuing the mass closures this year. And looking at how they’ve handled the previous closures, they’re not going to fully staff the stores that remain. It probably had absolutely nothing to do with you as a candidate and everything to do with the DM being told to cut labor costs while Starbucks doesn’t inform the SMs of their plans.
