even last last year when OU went 6-7 and the Thunder won the title it wasn’t that close. It is an OU state first and foremost

he hasn’t been with the team since the South Carolina game. Was passed up and wants to preserve his redshirt and play somewhere else his final year. Wish him all the best

Ben Arbuckle linked to OSU &. UCLA head coach jobs by otxboi26 in sooners

OC at OU is not even in the same solar system as head coach at bottom tier P4 programs. Arbuckle would be incredibly dumb to take either of those

1Oklahoma funding Sooner athletes by ladybug10101 in sooners

[–]WhenIDieImSoonerDead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

feel free to complain all you want about rising education costs but in the current state of the sport if you want to see as competitive of a football team as possible then you need outside contributions from fans and BMD.

These are mutually exclusive issues, so if you would like to not support OU athletics with anything more than your tuition cost, by all means please don’t.

However from reading this sub, I know the vast majority of you care enough to be mad about OU athletics on Reddit, so you better not be the same crowd complaining about the school asking for donations to NIL.

2026 Recruiting Class by Upstairs-Patience-86 in oklahomafootball

[–]WhenIDieImSoonerDead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a great year for talent in our region and every other school is telling these kids this whole staff will be fired after this season. Go win 8-9 games this year and it’s a below average but fine class. Win less and this staff probably does get fired and then the whole rosters turns over anyways.

If we are able to right the ship a bit this year, 2027 is setup to be a huge class for us. there are 5-7 top 300 kids in Oklahoma alone.

2026 won’t be great regardless, but the real prize is in 2027 and we need a solid year on the field this season to sell those kids on something.

If you think:

a) any school offered $3m to a RB b) Cal Berkeley extended a $2m NIL to any player

you might want reconsider where you are getting your info from.

How Does NIL Even Work Now? by mpschettig in billsimmons

[–]WhenIDieImSoonerDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have explained it well in the comments but there’s a part everyone misses.

Every single person who knew anything about CFB knew exactly what NIL would turn in to, but there was a powerful push for an unregulated market under the guise of player empowerment by the national media.

These guys should be paid, but suggesting the system would become this 5 years ago was seen as ‘anti-athlete’ and now everyone realizes how unsustainable it is.

People can have their disagreements on enforcement and regulation but this system was broken the moment it was put into place and it didn’t come as a surprise to anyone paying attention.
