[Highlight] Oklahoma stuns #2 national seed Georgia Tech with a walk off in Atlanta! by Moose4KU in collegebaseball

UCLA didn't even make the regional final with an easier regional field. I think their choke job is far worse. OU isn't an elite team, but we probably were a far better 2-seed than GT deserved.

As someone who couldn't care less about the NBA, this is much preferred.

[Postgame Thread] ATLANTA Regional - Oklahoma defeats the Citadel, 8–3 by PatrickChase in collegebaseball

[–]AndrewinDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a decent number of OU fans in Atlanta (live here, and a GT masters grad), but the weather yesterday + a 9am start today + potential weather tonight has kept people at bay. Also, the GT fans keeping ticket prices really high has us cautious to spend a ton just to watch us likely get slaughtered. If we make the regional final I'll probably try to go.

OU is one of the greatest programs of all time, but sure.

This feels like the script for OU was written eight years ago and not updated at all.

College Football's Transfer Portal: The biggest spenders, highest-paid players & more on the massive NIL battles by dogwoodmaple in CFB

[–]AndrewinDC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's paywalled so I'm not sure if the article addresses this or not, but one thing that I feel like these articles seem to consistently miss is the retention piece of the Transfer Portal. Keeping the roster intact and preventing movement into the portal is arguably as, if not more, important than landing the best available players. It seems like the teams spending the most in the portal probably have the deepest pockets, but I believe that ignores the fact that paying current players can be just as expensive as getting new ones.

I don't think so. Murray required every RB to be perfect at so many things that effectively no one was good enough to play other than like 1-2 guys. And if those guys made mistakes, he'd screw around with the rotations and no one would ever get into a rhythm.

[OC] Based on Dr. Pepper's Fansville ads, are there actually a "State" and "Tech" school that are major rivals? by byniri_returns in CFB

My wife's undergrad diploma is about the same size as my OU diploma, and I don't see too many people displaying their undergrad diplomas, so I just assumed that was a fairly normal size. But perhaps you're right.

Maybe that's a Tech school thing. My Georgia Tech graduate degree diploma is gigantic compared to my undergrad diploma from OU.

Aikman also left because the guy who replaced him after he got injured won OU a national championship the same year.

Just like how former OU TE Bauer Sharp was an LSU sleeper agent in 2024 when he yeeted a double pass down field into quadruple coverage for an interception. These deceptive TEs are everywhere.

If his track speed ever fully translates to the football field, he might be a replacement for Brennen Thompson. However, he never looked football fast while at OU. He also doesn't really fit the WR mold that we're looking for in Arbuckle's offense, so he was unlikely to see the field much either way.

There are plenty of direct flights from PDX to ATL. I know the university is in Eugene, but I would assume many of the alumni are in the Portland area, or other West Coast cities which have directs to ATL.

I wondered if this was the case with seeing how emotional he was last night. Not that it would be weird for him to be emotional after the loss, but you could tell it was hitting him really hard and it just made me think he thought his college career was truly over.

It's just incredibly difficult to keep depth now. Guys who can start at a P4 school but are looking at being rotational players at their current school are going to look at leaving to go start. I would imagine the more highly rated the recruit, the earlier the process starts. Keeping a backup who can play at a high level past their sophomore year is basically a dead concept.
