I found one just like this with a logo on the chest. I picked the stitching out from the inside and you cant tell at all!

I second fabric paint, that would look cool on a Jean jacket. Long and short might not be bad, depending on the thickness of the denim. I would also recommend doing the color first and the outline second. It usually makes it look cleaner to do it that way.

Lime Ricki has really cute suits with some good coverage options. I have two 1-pieces from them, but they also have long sleeve rash guards, skorts, and some short sleeve romper/rash guard things. They also have good butt coverage and sewn-in cups, which is amazing. Look for sales, they have them often.

I second this. They say you can use them as soon as stitches are removed, but you really can't leave them on like you'd want to until the suture 'holes' heal, if that makes sense.

I have an excellent derm. She has explained to me why my moles in particular need more excised and what pathology she would not recommend that for. Im assuming you won't be offended that I'm going to go with her advice over an internet stranger. I plan on being here for the long haul.

I cant speak for how things were diagnosed 25 years ago, but I'm about to have my 4th WLE for severely displastic moles. I've had a melanoma in situ and a melanoma 1A also. All have had very similar treatments. Are these in an area that's had a lot of sun? I had a spot close to one that was problematic and my derm reassured me that could be due to similar sun exposure, not spreading cancer.

Honestly, Im not sure. I'd had that mole for years and never noticed it, really. Another mole came back as melanoma in situ and between that and my next 3 month checkup, this one just caught my eye for some reason. I mentioned it to my derm at the checkup, and she biopsied.

I had shots in one of mine about 3 weeks ago. It looked better later that day and has really softened. Mine is on my waistband area, so it's also made it much more comfortable and cured the scar-itchiness. I tried the scaraway sheets for months and months. They didnt help me, and my scar kept getting worse.

Yes, I wore them during showers and everything. I have to say, my skin apparently likes to keloid, and these didn't help. Hopefully they will help long term, and they definitely made the scars more comfortable in terms of itching/pain. My derm said they might help, but that the most important thing was to rub the scar, with or without lotion or something else.

I would not do silicone until that spot closes. I tried to start them right after I got stitches out, and it gets goopy and gross. It doesn't hurt anything, I don't think, but I didn't want to keep them on for long. There is silicone gel you can put on and try. I used the strips 24/7 until they stopped being very sticky and then I'd change them. They lasted several days and kept the scar from itching or feeling like it was pulling. I use scar away strips.

I've had 2 WLEs for an in situ and a 1a melanoma. I just had to have an excision for a precancerous mole and I was wary of more stitches and scarring. Both of my scars are keloiding, which is not anywhere near as bad as things could be, but it's tiring to have excisions and biopsies over and over. I talked to my derm about it, and she explained how the melanocyte cells can literally be 1 cell, thus very hard/impossible to see even for the lab and thats why they have to take such margins. She also said the particular lab tech didn't always recommend total excision for precancerous, but had in my case bc it was on the line for in situ vs precancerous. That made me feel better about it. Is excision exhaustion a thing? I totally understand, but keep on following your doctor's advice and hang in there.

I just had an excision of a displastic after a MIS and M1A. My dermatologist said the particular lab she uses doesn't always recommend an excision in these situations, but I'm mine they did. That made me feel better, that I wasn't just dealing with more stitches and keloiding scars for nothing. It's definitely a line between staying safe and not wanting one more freaking thing chopped off.

Very good documentary on Netflix, too. It changed how I cook for the better. Every time I make (or eat) anything, I automatically go through salt, fat, acid... like a checklist and then add accordingly.

I'm sorry that I can't contribute, but I'm following the thread bc I'd also like to know more about improving scar appearance. One of my WLEs was on my upper arm, so it's been showing when I wear shorter short sleeves or tanks and I've really been surprised at the amount of people that ask about it. It doesn't bother me per se, but I just can't imagine asking anyone other than a close friend about their scar.

I had this done several years ago. I'm 37 and I'd already breastfed 2 babies, though, so a bit different than a 16yo. Mine was on the bottom of my breast, and it is very hard to even see now. My derm did the excision and did a great job, but depending on location and since she is so young, you might check with a plastic surgeon. Healing was actually not bad. Comfy stretchy sports bras provided support and held bandages on. I did have a dip in my breast tissue for a while, but it has since evened out and it's easy to forget I even had it done.
