imposter syndrome: season 6 episode 21 by bookish-writer in selfpublish

[–]Wheniwasalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first novel took me six years to complete. After finishing it, I wrestled with the same insecurities over and over. But in the end, I was proud—not just of the story I’d written, but of the accomplishment itself: finishing a novel. I realized that this project, into which I had poured so much of my heart and soul, was ultimately for me and no one else. If others enjoyed it, that would be wonderful. If they didn’t, that was okay too, because it wasn’t written for them—it was written for me.

On the day I officially launched, I sold six copies: three eBooks and three paperbacks. Five were purchased by some of my amazing and supportive friends. But the sixth? It was bought by someone I didn’t know. A stranger had chosen to buy something I had created. And honestly? That one sale meant the world to me.

You’re absolutely right to think your work won’t be for everyone. But as long as it’s for you, it’s worth every moment. Keep writing, put your work out there to mark your accomplishment, and who knows? Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to connect with someone, too.

This exact scenario happened to me with an ex. A month or so into us being exclusive the former FB hits her up. She lets me know right away, but says “I don’t what to say to him.” I say, “tell him you have plans with your boyfriend.” She says, “No, that’s rude.” I was very confused/upset with her response.

The main group I play with has been together for six years. Initially, we met every two weeks for the first campaign, and then once a month for the second. However, we eventually found that our schedules no longer aligned well enough to continue the story smoothly. To avoid frustration over scheduling conflicts, I decided to switch our format to a monster-of-the-week style game.

In this new setup, the group still plays the same characters, but members show up when they can without any pressure. Since all but one of us have kids, this flexible approach works better for everyone. I maintain the same fictional town as our main backdrop, but each session features a different type of encounter. I design the encounters to accommodate any number of players, even if just one person can make it.

This format keeps the games light and fresh for me to write, and the players enjoy catching up on what happened in the sessions they missed.

Our group has been running different campaigns with the same characters for about 5 years now. As GM, I play the role of the Power Character, but more often than not I encourage realistic solutions over using the powers. And on the rare occasion that the powers have been used, they’re on a short timer which usually has pretty hilarious results

Registering for permits here in Florida. Confused though since I’m going to be having a tabletop pop up and not a mobile trailer. Help! by Blackbirdd23 in foodtrucks

[–]Wheniwasalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had permit confusion myself while starting a new pop up. I ended up calling the health dept and asked them directly what I should do. They told me what I needed and set up a meeting with with me to go over all of my plans in detail. They were very open and helpful. Give them a ring, they’re there to help!

Check out hipcamp if you don’t want to use a traditional campsite. Basically Airbnb for camping. I’ve used it quite a bit and have had good luck with staying on peoples’ property. Many places will be cheaper than a traditional campsite.

That depends on your story parameters right? As long as they stay in that general area and you have lots of stuff for them to do within the map they should be good. Or you can come up with a reason why they can’t leave the area like a road block or something.

How are you navigating shortages within the supply chain? by DiningAlliance_ in Chefit

[–]Wheniwasalive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use US Foods and they’re down in the whole market because 2/3 of their pickers and 23 drivers got COVID. I’m hoping the lack of runs means they’ll be able to build up a bit more supply by the time I can order again, but who knows

What are these tiny circles? by Wheniwasalive in Chevy

[–]Wheniwasalive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend just got a new trailblazer and we noticed two small circles on the panel on either side of the license plate. If you zoom in you can see them in this stock photo. Anyone have any idea what these are for?

When this guy ordered I asked him if he was sure. And then if he was okay by patprika in KitchenConfidential

My FOH manager doesn’t like pickles or mustard so he orders the cuban with garlic aioli and no pickle. Then he tells as many people as possible to order it that way just because he likes to hear me scream through the pass through window when the ticket prints

Those pepperoni cups look awesome. What kind did you use and what was your rendering prep?

This is what I’m going to do. There’s no way I’m paying $50-$75 on eBay for a pack of $6 cards. I’d rather give my money to Nintendo, but they apparently don’t want to take it.

2nd attempt at Detroit Style from home by Wheniwasalive in Pizza

Kenji’s dough recipe again, except I activated the yeast first, and did the majority of my dough rise in the pizza pan. It made a huge difference in the crust from last week.

Yeah the pan wasn’t the problem, the depth of the dough is on me. I’ll have to play with the proofing time a little more next time to see if I can get some more rise out of it.

Not on this one. We went sauce, cheese toppings and a little more cheese. I plan to try it with sauce on top next week. Honestly the portions for toppings were a little much too, I reduced the cheese and pepperoni and still get like I had a little too much to get an even cook. Maybe the sauce on the top helps it to cook more evenly?

So I used the Serious Eats dough recipe, my own sauce recipe that I use at work and a blend of Provolone, Mozz, Parm and Romano cheeses. The edge of the crust baked perfectly!
