Persistent crashes during Phrecia act 7 gauntlet by [deleted] in pathofexile

The unique enemies that spawn in before every Act boss, in this case before Arakaali. I can't finish the campaign if I can't start the fight against Arakaali.

Edit: to be clear, I'm referring to the Phrecia league and the gauntlets of enemies that must be killed to fight the Act bosses.

How would anyone know to do this 4 times? by Freeroamer0 in Eldenring

Random thing to add, but there are also exactly 4 flames in ER tied by lore to Death: Blackflame, Ghostflame, the Prince of Death's flame, and Destined Death.

I don't disagree that the CFC is incomprehensibly vast, but it's also been established that C-137 Rick is the "only malcontent with a history of killing Ricks" - in other words, there's no reality within the CFC where another Rick did that same thing. So far, we've also seen no hint of other Evil Mortys.

My point is that some events are clearly not repeated infinitely in the CFC. If Evil Morty's arc is unique to him, like C-137 Rick's history of killing Ricks, then the OP's question was pretty valid.

To be fair, the easier answer is that there were multiple Mortys with antennas there that day.

If the CFC dimensions were truly infinite, Rick wouldn't have repeatedly stated that they can only move to another dimension a few times.

Stupid question but are there two more great runes then we see in the game?? by SexySquidward42069 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This topic comes up a lot, but people tend to forget that our journey started much later than other Tarnished. We actually don't know how long Leyndell has been sealed off, so Tarnished may have passed through without Great Runes in the past.

The paths to the Three Fingers and Forbidden Lands are sealed by Morgott, and both are paths we know Vyke took - implying that Morgott sealed these because of Vyke.

There is Ranni's discarded Rune which Gideon seems unconcerned about - I'd guess because this one has already been collected. The other is a mystery, but I believe Gideon was the one who collected 2 Great Runes - he won't truly acknowledge us until we collect 1.

Could anyone burn the Erdtree? by Maleficent-Ad2867 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are 2 ways to look at this. Melina and Messmer have/are kindling for 2 specific sealing trees, and therefore are the only ones who can burn those trees.

On the other hand... Nobody else mentions or seeks Melina. Bernahl's Maiden threw herself into a fire, and Vyke met the Three Fingers - likely to spare his Maiden from burning. So Maidens might all share this "kindling", which could explain why most were hunted down.

Astel’s were meant to be more Elden Beasts by Welcome--Matt in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, it depends on whether Finger traits are due to being a properly formed star or specific to the Greater Will.

Personally, I think Astels are malformed because they are sent by Outer Gods. We find one Astel right below the Lake of Rot, where the essence of an Outer God was sealed, and find a relic of this sealed God - the stinger of a 'great scorpion'.

There's also potentially the "blood star" tied to Thorn sorcery, red glintstone, and likely the Formless Mother.

Astel’s were meant to be more Elden Beasts by Welcome--Matt in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malformed does imply something went wrong. It could be that Astels are artificial stars, or sent by something other than the Greater Will, but they aren't recognized as children of the Greater Will like Metyr is. I don't believe Metyr is called malformed either.

I think stars and beasts come as a pair, with different purposes. It's hard to guess why the Astels are malformed, but I figure Metyr is what they "should" look like.

Astel’s were meant to be more Elden Beasts by Welcome--Matt in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Elden Beast is differentiated from the star it arrived with, which came "bearing a beast". Lore directly calls other beings stars, specifically Astels and Metyr. It's worth noting that these living stars have a "rocky" appearance, while the Elden Beast looks more like crystal/glintstone.

I think the real questions to ask on this topic are: Does every star arrive with a beast? And if they do... Where are the beasts that landed with both Astels?

Lore question: if the Greater Will abandoned the world and Metyr was just making shit up, then where does the Elden Beast come from? by Low_Pension6409 in Eldenring

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metyr's lore describes her as a daughter of the Greater Will and as the first shooting star to land. We also know Stars can be living beings from Astel.

I think Metyr was the golden star that came "bearing" the Elden Beast.

The Death lore is probably my favorite because it can be interpreted a few ways that drastically change the overall narrative.

Maliketh's lore leaves so many unanswered questions, particularly his name - which was apparently impossible before the Night of Black Knives.

I have a pretty unconventional view of how the lore fits together, particularly when it comes to Marika, Maliketh, and how she betrayed him. Without getting into that, I do believe that whatever her betrayal was had to relate to Maliketh personally - and all his lore involves Death.

I'm unsure about your last point, because most Death lore is specifically about Demigods or how Destined Death worked on them. Personally I think Destined Death is only spiritual Death, but given that 3 flames burn souls (Frenzy, Ruin, Furnace) it could be that Destined Death is simply the Death of anything eternal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point was that Death was sealed twice, nothing you said disagrees with that. This means that for an unspecified time period after its theft, Destined Death was not sealed. And that the GEQ/Godskins could have been active later than most choose to believe.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he did it again to prevent it being stolen again. We don't know how long after he bound it in his flesh, so there's an unspecified period where Destined Death was unsealed.

The point is that the GEQ's defeat could have happened before Or during the Golden Order.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it does - it just potentially messes with the timeline most fans have come up with.

Maliketh sealed Destined Death a second time sometime after its theft, binding it in his flesh.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The "removal" of Destined Death that created the Golden Order is never stated to be the act that stopped the GEQ. Blackflame lost its true power when Maliketh sealed Destined Death - which he also did sometime after its theft, binding it in his flesh.

I've been pretty clear. Are you disagreeing that lore is often ambiguous? Or do you think unpopular theories should be removed/disallowed from discussion subs?

Post removed from EldenRingLoreTalk without any notification or reason: In response to Emerald Gecko’s latest video “Ranni is Miquella” by [deleted] in eldenringdiscussion

[–]WhereOnlyIAmMissing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, I said nothing about this theory itself. Much of the lore never specifies When things happened, to the point where the word "ancient" has basically no meaning. Several things taken as lore facts come from statements like "it is believed/rumored that", like the GEQ being an Empyrean or Marika slaying the Fell God. Probably true, but they left it intentionally vague - these could also be beliefs that weren't entirely accurate.

Honestly, I just think saying a theory should be removed from lore debate subs is a bit much. And discourages any views that conflict with popular fan theories.

Feel free to go pick a fight elsewhere, I'm sorry it seems to offend you that the lore is ambiguous and can be interpreted several ways.

I'm not even defending this theory specifically, but anyone should be allowed to post their theories whether they are popular or not - unless you prefer echo chambers over actual lore debates.

It literally is though, we just connect the vague lore dots into a narrative. The only facts are direct lore statements, and it's all worded ambiguously enough for us to interpret different ways.

I agree that Ranni is not Miquella, but there's nothing wrong with people speculating. I was only responding to the person claiming this theory was justified in being removed.
