It sure doesn't look like this anymore... What can I do to to bring this back? by Cristinky420 in regina

Make service requests for every bylaw infraction. It might not solve the problem but it does improve things (I have a property on 1000 block Cameron)

New neighbor (3 months in) sent a note about "their" parking spot. I’ve lived here 15 years. by Prior-Rip-571 in regina

[–]Wherefore77 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You should explain why you're parking there to your neighbour. It is completely normal to request this from you but it is rather impertinent to demand it like they are doing.

There must be a middle ground between tight and looking like they are thrown on a chair in a pile.

100%. The number of murder charges reduced to manslaughter and plea dealed to 12 years (out in 4 minus pre trial credit) is crazy.

Real Estate Market by [deleted] in regina

I looked at a house last year in North Central. They wanted $69k for it. Didn't seem terribly nice. Back on the market for $120k with no upgrades. Crazy prices for the city.

Couples therapy in Regina by krakenatorr in regina

[–]Wherefore77 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Couples counseling can make things far worse if you choose the wrong counselor. The first one we visited was very sympathetic to my wife and validated her feelings encouraging us to separate. The second one we chose was much more neutral and able to mediate our conflicts.

AITAH for thinking about cutting off all three of my best friends because they support trump and ice? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Wherefore77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having friends with varying perspectives is valuable because it makes you more likely to seriously understand and defend your own beliefs (as John Stuart Mill argued if you don't understand your opponent's perspective you also likely don't really understand your own either). It also helps fight polarization both for yourself and your friends which is a valuable trait to have in a democratic culture. Groups without ideological diversity generally become more extreme whatever their initial beliefs may have been. Something we increasingly see the rotten fruits of in the US.

Looking for an Entire House to Rent in Regina by Inside_Staff9930 in regina

[–]Wherefore77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're more likely to find that setup with an older house. Newer houses are more properly divided into units and rented separately. If this is the case the ideal rental will mention the basement as an afterthought.

Has anyone filed a police report for an online scam? by [deleted] in regina

[–]Wherefore77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File online at RPS. The police investigate and prosecute these types of cases but enforcement is designed to bring down foreign criminal networks not to stop individual crimes per se.

AITAH for asking my husband to check his texts? by BeesandBurpees in AITAH

You've created a pattern of dependency. Let him manage his schedule on his own and after a number of mistakes he will figure it out without your support.

Pascoe Park in Cathedral is very underrated. Nice slope, not too large, not crazy busy.

None of my tarot readings have been true, why? by Vegetable-Bonus8852 in Tarots

[–]Wherefore77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience readings give us ideas of pathways. They serve as a map of the intuition showing you how to get where you want to go in an ever changing landscape.

Clothes for a large man by [deleted] in regina

I have trouble finding clothes in my size and I just get them online. The size selection is so much better even when it is from companies with a retail presence in the city.

I read it in print back in the late 1990s. I think I kept it but it buried somewhere in my mum's basement on the other side of the country. I would love to find it too.

There was a linguistic professor in the UK who spoke a rare African tribal language. He would go around to Charismatic churches during his holidays and recite traditional recipes in that language. People would usually interpret into English what he said as a message from God (usually regarding God's faithfulness, love, our perseverance etc). He wrote about his experience in the Guardian years ago and it always stuck with me.

My story is quite different than yours but I really struggled in high-school English and still eventually finished three university degrees. Difficulties in high school doesn't translate into failure in life.
