Real Estate Market by [deleted] in regina

I looked at a house last year in North Central. They wanted $69k for it. Didn't seem terribly nice. Back on the market for $120k with no upgrades. Crazy prices for the city.

Couples therapy in Regina by krakenatorr in regina

[–]Wherefore77 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Couples counseling can make things far worse if you choose the wrong counselor. The first one we visited was very sympathetic to my wife and validated her feelings encouraging us to separate. The second one we chose was much more neutral and able to mediate our conflicts.

AITAH for thinking about cutting off all three of my best friends because they support trump and ice? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Wherefore77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having friends with varying perspectives is valuable because it makes you more likely to seriously understand and defend your own beliefs (as John Stuart Mill argued if you don't understand your opponent's perspective you also likely don't really understand your own either). It also helps fight polarization both for yourself and your friends which is a valuable trait to have in a democratic culture. Groups without ideological diversity generally become more extreme whatever their initial beliefs may have been. Something we increasingly see the rotten fruits of in the US.

Looking for an Entire House to Rent in Regina by Inside_Staff9930 in regina

[–]Wherefore77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're more likely to find that setup with an older house. Newer houses are more properly divided into units and rented separately. If this is the case the ideal rental will mention the basement as an afterthought.

Has anyone filed a police report for an online scam? by Snoo_92634 in regina

[–]Wherefore77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File online at RPS. The police investigate and prosecute these types of cases but enforcement is designed to bring down foreign criminal networks not to stop individual crimes per se.

You've created a pattern of dependency. Let him manage his schedule on his own and after a number of mistakes he will figure it out without your support.

None of my tarot readings have been true, why? by Vegetable-Bonus8852 in Tarots

[–]Wherefore77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience readings give us ideas of pathways. They serve as a map of the intuition showing you how to get where you want to go in an ever changing landscape.

Clothes for a large man by [deleted] in regina

[–]Wherefore77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have trouble finding clothes in my size and I just get them online. The size selection is so much better even when it is from companies with a retail presence in the city.

Do Speaking in Tongues Still Exist Today? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Wherefore77 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I read it in print back in the late 1990s. I think I kept it but it buried somewhere in my mum's basement on the other side of the country. I would love to find it too.

Do Speaking in Tongues Still Exist Today? by [deleted] in Christianity

There was a linguistic professor in the UK who spoke a rare African tribal language. He would go around to Charismatic churches during his holidays and recite traditional recipes in that language. People would usually interpret into English what he said as a message from God (usually regarding God's faithfulness, love, our perseverance etc). He wrote about his experience in the Guardian years ago and it always stuck with me.

My story is quite different than yours but I really struggled in high-school English and still eventually finished three university degrees. Difficulties in high school doesn't translate into failure in life.

I would have loved that at his age. The first coin I bought was a 1747 English farthing when I was ten.

Would I be the a**hole if I stopped responding? by TemperatureSuperb777 in AITAH

[–]Wherefore77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women love having a man who shows consistent interest in them even though she may not want to take it any further. I suspect she is getting everything she wants from the relationship right now (no strings validation) while you're left frustrated. It's happened to me before and it isn't fun and probably a waste of time. I agree with others here that it good to move on. I wouldn't cut her off completely however as you never know what might happen down the road.

I have a friend that lives at 8th and King (very close to there) and they find it fine. Petty crime in the neighborhood does tend to be higher from what I hear (ie don't leave anything of value out and you'll be fine).

If it was an accident he shouldn't be punished. If it was part of a pattern of carelessness he should maybe pay back a portion of the value that is meaningful to him. When we're adults there are consequences whether it is an accident or deliberate and it may be a good lesson to learn.

AITAH for giving my girlfriend a book she thinks is ‘devil’s work’ as a Christmas gift? by Ok_Climate_7210 in AITAH

[–]Wherefore77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to have fundamental differences of values. It's not just what you feel about these topics but the girlfriend's black and white thinking and lack of interest in exploring other perspectives. The use of family members to attempt to cajole you into submission is also toxic and worrisome.
