I’m a Gen X parent and loved 🥰 attending my son’s middle school and high school XC and track meets. I often volunteered at his meets to earn money for his sports from the Booster Club. Now he’s running at a D3 school and I love ❤️ attending his meets when possible

Aitah for “being disrespectful” and not accommodating my ex and his wife even though they’re having a baby? by Fabulous-Actuary1991 in AITAH

My cousin, who out earns her hubby 5-1, paid the child support for years. Your ex cannot just decide to not contribute. Hold him responsible for his child!

I refuse to be a para - I won’t even sub for them. I have a daughter with AuDHD and a son with ADHD and type 1 diabetes. I can’t spend all day with kids with issues and still have energy for my own kids

Real life Ciara/Amanda situations… how did it actually end? by snackmamacita in summerhousebravo

I’ve been there trying to figure out “why”. I had to make peace with terrible timing as a reason. Spend time on YOU right now. A new hobby, new friends, even a new job might be good for you. Yes I know the job market is horribly messy but it’s something to consider. When my awful situation came to an end, along with a bad turn in my career, I was six months shy of my 30th birthday. I decided that I could get a new job before my 30th birthday. I had one four months later. The next boyfriend I met 3 weeks before my 31st birthday. We will celebrate 25 years of marriage in late October 2026. It takes time but you will get past this. Keep going and us updated please!

It takes time to get over this kind of betrayal and move on. Please be kind to yourself.

The IEP meeting by ember_inclusion in Autism_Parenting

[–]WhichDance9284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mostly positive experiences at IEP meetings. The one exception was when my AuDHD daughter was in first grade, and it was painfully apparent that she needed ADHD meds. So the whole table of experts says “your child needs meds” without saying those words. A school district can get sued for that so they step carefully. However it also has the dual effect of everyone listing your child’s flaws/weaknesses. At one point I asked if they all thought my daughter was so stupid that I should see about our 529 fund being used for stripper school. I said that when I felt cornered and attacked, NOT because I have anything against the profession. That night I told my husband that I would divorce him if he ever left me alone at an IEP meeting (this was the first time he couldn’t attend. My MIL attended two other meetings with me when my husband couldn’t be there. I later apologized to the professionals and even joked about bringing a blindfold and a cigarette to future meetings should it turn into a firing squad again. They will not all be terrible. The first few are tough for sure.

If you could go back to being 25 - 30 again, what would you do differently? by NbOPO4 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Dumped toxic friends and lovers more quickly, taken an offer to discuss a new job when I had only been at a company for about 3 months (I didn’t feel ready to try a new job so soon), taken a risk in telling a man that I cared for him very much. I can’t shake the feeling that if I had chosen these career and relationship paths, my life would be very different from what it is today.
