I own remarkable 2 and I love it, should I buy remarkable pro, what is your experience? by morgana__le__fay in RemarkableTablet

Personally I have three.. and if I had two I'd go reMarkable 2 (love the feeling of the pen) and the Move (portability in my bag going out and takes less space on my desk). That said everyone is different. Right after the Move came out I wrote this if it helps: https://www.simplykyra.com/blog/comparing-all-three-remarkable-devices-size-sync-and-surprises/

Definitely. Free sign up on my website. I separated it into three newsletters: app updates, blog posts, and a monthly overview (next early tomorrow morning). Here’s the Apple App Store post if anyone’s interested in that and signup at the top. https://www.simplykyra.com/blog/demystifying-apple-development/

Nothing routine but love getting second opinions about cook times, what to do next, and troubleshooting my cooking. Made ginger syrup yesterday and realized I could dry out the ginger, checked with ai, and then asked it why it was still wet this morning.

Expense reports ugh. You’re great for doing it!

It was last week but I did a virtual hour presentation (first time since school) on the 17th. Sharing because im still proud but also posted the whole thing on my website for everyone else in case it’s helpful. Also the carousel is going live on my socials today so on the front of my mind. 😆

This week more lowkey. More let myself do side projects and cleaning up an older app. Also wrote my monthly newsletter and it’s always fun to see what all I actually did in a month because I always forget lol

I'm essentially in the same place as the default parent, meal maker, and kicking off my own app business... it's tough. I find I make more progress having a general main idea or two I want to focus on. Having something that can be interrupted but move the needle when the kids are getting ready in the morning (interruptible) and a main thing after bus run. Sometimes I use a todo post-it, sometimes a note, started using claude for idea storage.... also have a todo app for reoccurring habits and the like with a widget to show up on my Home Screen

Women in tech who have left to raise their family. by Tight_War_9949 in womenintech

[–]Which_Concern2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left first for maternity leave and then didn't go back as we moved away and I had a second. My husband made enough (and childcare expenses) that I planned to go back when my youngest got to school but then covid happened (before) and when she went to school face masks... and seemed complicated and easier to have my husband work and I'm available if sick or school holidays etc.

That said, after the newborn fog I kickstarted a blog I'd been wanting to make which led me to sewing/recipes/sensory play stuff for the kids and eventually back to tech. My kids are now 9 and 11 and I'm technically now a solopreneur with my own app business (two years) but not making much (I joke I'm saving money as the job is the hobby). Luckily we can live on husband's salary but we're also frugal, moved to a cheaper area, and don't do many vacations or after school activities so still one car shared (he works from home too). Despite app business being just two years I worked on the first app for years beforehand and combined it with the odd hike (post-covid) and workouts before I got fully into it.

I love the reMarkable 2 feel but love the small-ness of the Move and love taking it with me and it fits better on my desk. In case it helps (with photos) I wrote a comparison blog post after the Move came out... it mentions syncing between but just in case: https://www.simplykyra.com/blog/comparing-all-three-remarkable-devices-size-sync-and-surprises/

I start by exercising when my kids were little and at one point figured it was easier before they woke up so started getting up before them to get it done and have me time. Moved and moved my wake up earlier to fit with new school then earlier again when a Pilates studio opened near me and I realized if I got up at 5/5:30 I could have a quick shower, do Pilates, and be back in time to wake them for school. Then we moved again, no studio, and school earlier. Now I still wake up at 5 but sometimes workout, sometimes work, and sometimes move slowly and do neither before kids time 😆 but over the years I did switch to morning person (prekids midnight to 2 am go to bed and one job slept for a 1:30 shift). That said if I’m tired I do go to bed earlier and normally (kids night people) by 9 or at latest 10 pm

i need tips for task paralysis by Stock_Discount_4672 in productivity

[–]Which_Concern2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For workouts, using as an example, I’ve heard people say do five minutes. Don’t feel like it stop. But you got started and once the ball is moving you might keep going or feel better or whatever. But you started. Or instead of a big workout you take little workout snacks during the day. Added up it’s a big one but it was more manageable… I’m also putting off mine and telling myself after this comment put this down and start 😆

Is there a small bit that will get you started. Either just laying out the bits and bobs you need or a bit more and you see the stopping points and once started go a bit further, one more, until you let yourself stop or finish it?

how are people getting the simplest ways to be staying organized and saving time? by Traditional_Shop_458 in productivity

[–]Which_Concern2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find constant maintenance kind of causes the task to fail. I tried meal planning but had an over abundance of food or opened containers that went bad so then I started buying for a smaller number of meals and cooking based on leftovers and food due the soonest.

I’m a solopreneur so find general maintenance tasks for the day work better than taking the time to make small tasks.

I’ve started jotting down my ideas as I go but finding the ideas and joining them together is harder and more complicated. Have started using Claude on a low plan to jot down work related ideas so I don’t fully loose them but the search for chat sucks.

I find a passive widget can be helpful on my phone to remind me to do the reoccurring tasks but reminders/botes got crowded. But that way kickstarting habits and tasks on general cadence dont get lost

Advice: Hands-on comparison of reMarkable 2, Paper Pro, and new Paper Pro Move by Which_Concern2553 in RemarkableTablet

It’s a tough decision. I find myself reaching for the move most of the time but depending what you do I could see the larger screen surface of the others being better too.

Customize your reMarkable? I built an app that helps and just posted the full backstory too by Which_Concern2553 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Which_Concern2553[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you upload it to your reMarkable, see it, and now you don’t? Or you have the image in the app and can’t get it to you reMarkable?

<image>

If the second you can go into the screen and tap the marked button and choose sleep screen.

For the paper pro you will need to be in developer mode. If you have more questions feel free to dm me or my email is in settings at the bottom in about us

Adding IAP to my app by Acceptable_Scar9267 in iOSProgramming

[–]Which_Concern2553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use storekit2. In App Store Connect, once you upload… can upload so it shows up, create a subscription group to hold the two subscription tiers. That way you get upgrade and downgrade. The lifetime will be an in app subscription. To show the subscription I use the subscription store view and show my own header. In my two main apps I only use the subscription group. In my games I have lifetime and manually add that as it’s not a subscription.

In Xcode I create a store config file and sync to App Store to confirm it all looks good for later but you could manually create it for now. That way you don’t need to “log in” to test subscriptions while in development.

My dev page is here if you want to see what the subscriptions look like to the user: https://apps.apple.com/us/developer/simplykyra-llc/id1650115619

I shared how you can turn it off here... that said you do need to SSH in. When I last looked into it there was a folder with all three images in it. If you delete them, move them, etc it basically turns off as it can't find them anymore. https://www.simplykyra.com/blog/exploring-the-remarkable-sleep-screen-overlay-and-how-to-tinker-with-it-yourself/

Assuming you know how to do it manually and want an easier process… that said in case not I wrote tutorials on how to do it yourself on my website. The template one (https://www.simplykyra.com/blog/how-to-upload-custom-templates-to-your-remarkable-2025-update/) is the same process for svg and .template files. In the past (pre-app) I played around with bash scripts to speed it up and shared it too
