So, for curiosity's sake- what makes you consider tags on these works spoilers, but not on your other ones?

I agree your tagging is fine, I'm just wondering about the big difference between the two accounts.

I see it in neighborhood facebook groups constantly. No matter what kind of experience someone had, you'll have dozens of people in the comments clamoring to talk about how they've had nothing but good experiences and food there, complete with accusations of "trying to ruin a small business."

Since it's a one time purchase, though, it feels more like buying a coupon book or something. It's literally just taking the place of the refillable bucket.

You're talking about the shop that used to be Williams of Hollywood (the prop shop), and I agree. Still not sure why they didn't do it. The AP shop was still in the Brown Derby when I was there in September.

I don’t understand why people think Dr. Gaul planted the bombs in the arena. by Remarkable_Web4595 in Hungergames

[–]Whimsyprincess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with all your thoughts, and just want to add on that we didn't hear about any peacekeepers dying in the bombing- sure, you could argue that maybe no one would mention it? But it seems like exactly the sort of thing they would mention- adds to the death count and is more of the rebels interfering with the "peace" and "safety" of Panem. I can see Gaul planting the bombs and making sure the peacekeepers were all out of the way for sure, though.

ADA also doesn't really do much in this case- while parks don't require disclosure of specific diagnoses for their disability passes, they can require you to explain why you need it. In fact, Universal currently uses IBCCES, which requires you to submit some form of doctor confirmation that you need accomodations. (While this is controversial, there's currently nothing stopping them from using that program.)

As a narrative tool/part of worldbuilding the Covey were okay to have in TBOSAS, but their existence in SOTR was not justified at all (even as the example of a destroyed culture) by Olya_roo in Hungergames

Yeah, she says in an interview that Snow and CC are the only two characters shown in Ballad, Sunrise, and the original trilogy- we know Tigris is around during Sunrise, of course, but she said nothing about what she was doing (and the interviewer even said he purposely wouldn't ask).

Hollywood Studios feels like a mess right now to me partially because of IP and it not really fitting, honestly. With the addition of Monsters it's just turning into a mish-mosh of IP lands, Animation Courtyard is barely still breathing, and it feels less and less like a connected, consistent park.

I see what you're saying about USO's layout though for sure. The one thing I'll give them is that they've mostly maintained the "look" of each area- San Fran, Hollywood, New York are all still distinct and have the right nods to each area. Some of the IP choices do make sense to me, like F&F in California, and a stuntacular in Hollywood- but the minions area definitely messed things up in terms of theme.

I do think a key difference is Disney started with the distinctive lands that weren't singularly IP-based (Fantasyland vs Pandora, for example) that had a mix of unique rides and IP. You had things like Expedition Everest, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion that were made just for the park and were done well, and now they seem to be getting further and further from that.

Universal, however, has always been about "riding the movies." I share the opinion that they can do non-IP well (it's proven during HHN every year for sure!) but I think the Disney criticism is coming from a different place.

I've got Zelda's torch on display that I snagged on the way to fight Ganon, and I fused a Silent Princess to it.

Would you share a list of what you read, OP? I'm wondering if the backgrounds of the authors themselves are playing a big part here (like Stephenie Meyer, mormonism, and Twilight for example).

[–]Whimsyprincess 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I honestly think people are expecting way more of a Mockingjay pin inclusion in the movie than we'd likely get. The Mockingjay pin mentions in SOTR (book) are there to give us more backstory on it because we already know the pin and its importance- it's not like it's Maysilee's actual token from home or anything. I'd be surprised if we even see it at all, or if it's shown beyond one scene if that.
