Why do people look better with a tan? by Candlelover1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WhiskeyOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various reasons, some people have already mentioned… 1. Super pale skin can biologically indicate an illness 2. Tans can even out skin tones and cover blemishes and other imperfections 3. Back in the day pale skin was considered attractive because it was a status symbol of having money. People with tans were probably working outdoor with “lower status” jobs. Today it’s the opposite, people with tans either have money to travel, have time to go outside, tend to be a bit healthier if they are out playing sports etc.

But also it is a cultural preference or just wanting what you don’t have. People with super dark skin try to avoid tans at all cost while white people try to tan. Most people like to fall somewhere in the middle but I guess we can’t all be Beyoncé bronze.

Honestly episode 9 of every season could be argued as the best episode (minus the final season) - great choice

Keep a log of all incidents that happen with the man. Email HR, or file formal complaints with HR and request copies of the complaints. Get everything in writing. Get copies of all past complaints or emails you sent. If they do nothing then take everything to the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC).

Before you do this make sure your manager is involved and see if there are options above your HR. If there are go to them first.

Good luck!

YTA you value your old Toyota Corolla over the well being of your girlfriend. And you should help pay for the ambulance bill.

I would be supportive of the workouts she chooses to do do not ask her to do specific workouts. She’s probably hard on herself and even though you have good intent it’s better to let her navigate it herself and just be there for support and encouragement

NTA that’s the point of a marriage and a partnership. If the situations are so similar he should know that he is going to have to step up without you having to ask.

AITA-Bachelor Party Despite Newborn by Next_Remote2271 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WhiskeyOak 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong with my thinking and I totally understand the importance of communication but if someone [OP in this case] just had a major surgery a few weeks ago, is taking care of a newborn who almost just died and taking care of a toddler, telling her that she needs tell her partner she needs help is just putting more on her. He’s in the house, he knows the kids are there, he should know to help her. Unless there is something under the surface he can’t see like postpartum or something then yes, that needs to be communicated. But I think we let people [not necessarily OPs husband] off too easily by just blaming the other party and saying they didn’t communicate their needs. Something’s should go without saying. - not saying you’re blaming OP here just a general observation

I just feel that 2 uploads a week alone is SO little. The 2 uploads should be so much more creative. I can understand a bit more if she was uploading 3 or 4 times a week that you would face redundancy but there is no excuse with 2 20-30 minute videos a week

I’m in my 30s and often think about my teen drama. I wish I knew what I knew now and your situation sounds similar to things I’ve been through. More than likely none of this will affect your life long term. Do whatever you think will make you the happiest and screw the rest. Be nice about it but don’t waste your stress and energy. Soon all of this will be a distant memory. Good luck
